Templar-izing my Outriders I already have a pretty large bike force for my Black Templars so I've been waiting excitedly for the Outriders. I added some of my existing bike conversion parts to the mix along with the heavy guardbrace on the shoulder pads. For the exhausts, I removed the thinner segment of the exhaust pipe filed it smooth then attached my resin upgrades rather than just drilling out the tube. Because they are so small they can be a bit fiddly but IMO it's worth the effort. It helps to add them before attaching the side pieces to the bikes, while you can still do it at any point it's just easier while it's still separate. I use a jewelry saw to remove the tube tips on the exhaust since it makes a nice clean & controlled cut, then filed everything smooth before attaching the resin tips. I use the tip of my hobby knife or a sewing needle carefully touched between the vents and help pick it up so I can eyeball that everything is straight before pressing it in place. The guardbrace was heated in very hot water for about 15 seconds then bent around the shoulder pad. (Hot enough to make tea) If you mess up they can be reheated and they'll flatten back out. Just make sure they aren't too cold when you go to bend them or they could crack. If's it's heated correctly it'll be very pliable. I used one of the Templar vehicle crosses on the hood and the shrine on the rear is a press molded copy of the top of the buttress piece from the Imperial Sector city fight terrain. Hi all. My current work in progress! This is the start of my first attempt at painting a dreanought in many years of engaging this hobby. In fact, this is actually my first space marine model too! I have spent a long long time avoiding Space Marines but I've finally taken the plunge! I generally hate painting vehicles, as I don't use an airbrush and don't have the space for one at the moment. But for once, I decided to try and get some gradients done by hand. This is my first attempt at painting a dreadnought. The should pads need a little tidy up on the transition, but generally I'm happy with the other gradients. Does anyone have a good colour scheme to paint the base a red sand colour? Here's to the start of The Crusade!

A simple rule addendum for BT that would I think atleast partly help us flavorfully. Be a simple and basic rule change. That is incredibly easy to implement. For Non-Elite or HQ Units without the Scout, or Crusader Squad Keyword BT Infantry units may add up to 5 Neophytes to the Squad, for 3 Power. BT Biker Unit may include up to 5 Neophytes Bikers for 4 Power Whenever a BT Bikers Unit has an option to take a Special Weapon, replace it with following: they may instead take a Special Weapon, Power Sword, Maul, Ax or Fist Whenever a BT Infantry Unit that could take a Heavy Weapon, replace it with the following: they may take Heavy Weapon, a Power Sword, Maul, Ax or Fist --------- Neophyte Bikers - 23 Points Move 14" WS-3+ BS-3+ S-4 T-5 Wo-2 A-1 Ld-6 Sv-4+ Each Neophyte Biker is armed with Bolt Pistol, Frag and Krak Grenade. It may replace its Bolt Pistol with a Combat Knife or Astartes Shotgun. The SM Bike has a Twin Boltgun Abilities: And They Shall Know No Fear. Turbo Boost. Trainee: Any unit accomplied by Neophyte Bikers gains the Crusader Biker Squad Keyword. Additionally Neophyte Bikers gains the Keywords of any unit it joins that itself lacks. This is a post to start a thread on the after-action review of the Knightfall Indomitus 2021/2022 I'm making this post to capture the "what worked, what didn't work" aspect. Moderator - feel free to nuke, edit, or advise on better placement. TL;DR; Fun. Thanks to TheOneTrueZon and rest of the crew. I really enjoyed seeing the other models being completed. Was a big factor in doing better! I like the way the Dreadnought turned out. I need to practice dry brushing more frequently on scrap plastic, and I need to spend even more time in the dry-fit, gap-fill, surface prep. Planning ahead is a good thing. Time to fetch bits, time to let paint dry overnight, etc.. Patience prevails. I will do this again. Main things: 1. It got me off the couch. I have probably started 2500 points worth of models over the last few years but never really finished them to the point of TT++ readiness. Greetings brothers, I was lurking around FW website and after a while, I'm somewhat alarmed that I can't find nowhere the entry for our venerable dreadnoughts. I've searched in other websites but I can't find anything about this. Someone knows what happened? Are they gone?

What do they say, 'When in doubt, write fluff' ? Maybe, maybe not... Vox chatter picked up serendipitously after the Second Vendetta Crusade command made landfall for a Command and Control Intelligence Reevaluation. Compliance was uniform and Zon and the column of leadership on board Vendetta Crusader Catena Gladius gave orders to secure domain. <fluff> </fluff> +++=== The Project ===+++ The project I started in 2016(?) to build a hand-made (no patterns, no kit) from scratch Keep based on images and ideas drawn from older BT Codex (or current Codex for that matter). I cut out, assembled, and tried to get the start on this. I then put it aside for a while. ( Materials/Methods: 1/4" pressboard, 3/16" birch plywood, bandsaw, drillpress, pnuematic-pinner (think air powered nail-gun but very small headless nails aka -- "pins", and misc parts sculped by hand from pine (soft easy sand) etc.. ) Fast forward years... BT are back in business, literally and figuratively. So, after finishing the latest Indomitus model painting vow, I got some models that are worth billeting into the aforementioned Keep. Prior to the actual Crusade, some planet-fall action takes place. And the Keep, and required structures are next in line. Going to try to think of a courtyard section to envision an honorarium (open air, stone) dais to place rememberances of fallen Brothers of the last Crusade (something about the Armageddon Books is pulling me in that direction.. don't know why). Anyway... the start (re-start) of the Keep. +++=== Next Steps ===+++ Much more to follow as I get around to finishing the woodwork, prime, putty (plaster more like) and so on... The 6' x 4' table isn't pictured but that is the footprint of the whole model terrain idea.. Keep, Honorarium, Field. I have never been a great fan of Biker Squads, and I am probably still not enthusiastic for a gaming role. However, having browsed the new Index with Characters, Ancients and Company Veterans, I thought that this brings an opportunity for a few models with lots of BT bling! I am not making this a WiP blog. I will just get on with the build with the bits now in hand and paint until final photos, but here is my plan: - Character: Chaplain on Bike, with rosarius and several tomes of reading matter - Character: Company Ancient on Bike, with power sword and Astartes Banner (which will need to be mounted to a sheath on the bike) - Character: Company Champion on Bike, with m/c power sword and combat shield - Veteran Sword Brethren on Bike, with lightning claw - Veteran Biker, chainsword on his back and holstered pistol - Additional Veteran Biker, with meltagun - Additional Veteran Biker, with BT power axe (maybe a magnetised option for a power fist?) I have run out of bikes at this stage, so foregoing the third additional biker and apothecary. Warmed up to the idea that characters are with rather than joining units, but it's not going to be easy to hide 3 characters behind 4 veteran bikers! This is much more of a cabinet cluster than a battle unit. However, comments and guidance appreciated.

This is my first proper thread since joining this forum. I am finally committed to playing 40k tabletop. So I spent the coin to buy models in preparation for 10th ED. I'll run down my two prospective armies: | Black Templars | Ever since I first heard about 40k, the Black Templars have been one of my favorite chapters. I may have liked others more at one time or another. For example, before I settled on BT I intended on building a Raven Guard, Crimson Fists, or Iron Hands army. But I always felt myself drawn back to the Templars, so I decided on them (also my brother is building a Blood Angels army, who I was also considering building and I wanted something different). Their aesthetic, their lore, the way they fight, everything about them screams a 40k that I adore. It represents something that other chapters don't provide me. Something distinctly older, something gothic, something unique. It helps my favorite Primarch is Rogal Dorn as well, the IF and their successors just appeal to me. I've bought most of these boxes fairly recently, and it's the army I intend to be my first to play a game of 10th ED when it releases. I also have a Predator kit on the way. I debated on getting that or a Rhino, but opted for the tank because I love it so much. Next | Word Bearers | This prospective army is much, much smaller right now. Just 5 CSM from a box of 10 I split with my brother and a box of Raptors. And this is probably where it will stay for now. I originally intended to build a Iron Warriors army, but settled on the WB after much thought. I am a loyalist first and foremost. But the Word Bearers have always been an interesting warband to me, and Lorgar an interesting character. Additionally, I really like their color scheme. This army will be painted, but priority is the BT. /// I will update this thread as I make progress, but it will probably be very infrequent. All tips and criticism welcome, I am extremely novice tabletop player, builder, and painter. I want to get better.

So I listened to Helsreach and one thing led to another... and here I am starting a new crusade! I really enjoyed painting this guy, which coincidentally was my first marine in all the time I've painted Warhammer! I think he came out okay, what do you reckon? I'm going to periodically update this thread with the progress of my Black Templars collection, that I aim to get in a good place by this time next year. I'm going to push myself to learn one new painting technique with each set. With this one, it was painting purity seals. I think they came out okay! I also can't resist a bit of headcannon, so enjoy! Sword Bretheren! *** It was strange for Lieutenant Valerious Trebane to be among those for whom The Emperor's first crusade had never finished when he himself had been psycho-indoctrinated with a history of the Imperium that screamed at his mind that this Indomitus Crusade was something new. To some this may have felt like a minor detail, but to he whom had begun his time of service in the Yellow Armour of the Imperial Fists it meant everything. He was grateful that his superiors had agreed with him that his religious devotion was better suited to his brothers in The Black Templars, but whilst they were happy to part ways with him the reception was not the same amongst his new kin. Perhaps they hadn't yet realised that he too understood the unspoken driver of their continued quest across the stars? In a way, he felt that he articulated it better than they could precisely because he had come from another mighty chapter first. That outside perspective made him understand that these hallowed knights never lost sight of the glory and awe of the first great crusade. That they still lived it today, was beautiful. He sensed their quiet discomfort, that he had arrived seemingly untested but with the rank of command. The only thing that held them back from open challenge was theur shared forefather - Rogal Dorn. Had he hailed from any other chapter, it might have been different. Never the less, he was here, and soon he would make known his worth in the field of battle. Soon...
