That sword is amazing! I will have to do some testing on keeping a silver look as I don't want my regular power weapons to look like the black sword ;)  Thanks for posting it!

My pleasure, I hope it helps out, you could always try and use silver as the base with a darker layer of badab wash instead of black and then work the same method as in the tut, I might try it out myself.

 

@Andhil - thank you, and my wife has absolutely given me $&%^ for not sleeping. It was the zeal urging me to complete that second vow. Mind you she didn't go for that excuse either.

Ask Brother Reinhard, there is no such thing as too many termies. The fact that they kick people's teeth in and leave candy wrappers all over the place after they've left just endears them to me even more.

 

I've been playing termie centric forces since...oh, around 2006 or 2007 and everyone hates them. I don't know why, they're so effective. :P  In fact, one of my friends was commenting on my TH/SS termies to my opponent and said, "You aren't going to like those <pointing towards termies>, they won't die".

 

Made me smile.

I will just say that I'm am truly envious of Brother Reinhard's terminator collection and defenatly have the same obsession, however I think that my next purchase of terminators will be the cataparatcii, such wonderful termi's.

Update time.
Finally got the first crusade squad done, I don't know why it took me so long, but they are finished. Mind you I still need to come up with something for the sword brothers robes to make them pop more but for the time being must carry on with the vow.

I do find it entertaining that I, and I am pretty sure there are others out there, that strive to get a great looking white coat; and then when we do, just dirty it up with washes just for the wear and tear effect, I find myself laughing at that quite a bit actually, sigh...

Since I have been feeling sluggish thus far with this vow, I can finally say that I have made some progress. Here are the completions of Vow 3 at this time.

This is one of my favorite SB so far, was really going for the "ok challenge complete...your next" kind of look.

5 assault terminators and a captain left, and then that should be all the power armour I have left at my desk. So looking forward to that moment.

Thank you for the comments brothers. I really enjoy the dirty beat up look, especially for the Templar who never seem to truly stop. Hopefully I will have a decent chunk done on the terminators tonight and will post some WIP pics of them, however that might have to wait as I get to try my hand at 7th ed tonight against either some renigades or noise marines, not to sure yet. Should be fun, this only being my second time playing a actual game.

Just wanted to say I really like your plasma glow on your weapons and the energy field tutorial for power weapons was really good.

I am going to try that on my SB and hidden PW for my Crusader squad. Possibly ETL vow 2.

@Scott - I am glad that the tutorial was helpful I would really love to see your PW when they are done, it's always pretty cool to see everyone's own variation.

@Snorri - I picked up the chains at a Michaels store, the links are 1mm and it was just one of the make it yourself bracelet or necklace chains that I cut to size.

@Honda - As requested, my buddy was playing the pink guys army, and I must say I truly hate witches even more now with the phychic phase, he used bloody malediction on everything he could, thank the emperor for the machine spirit.

After running around the table for 4 turns in his Rhino my Vindicater (the true star of this game for me I might add) Cought up and proceeded to create a glorious explosion forcing him to walk. At which time Marshal Adonis succeeded in his charge roll and threw down the challenge. After taking one hit point the good Marshal Pulled off 2 rending strikes and a wound which ended that fight quickly.

It was a fun game even with a over all lose with points, but for my 3rd game ever ill take it.

You need to watch that Lucius fellow, isn't he the one that manifests himself within the body of his killer, slowly warping the Honoured Hero into Lucious, while only the screaming face of his slayer can be seen on his armour?

That part I don't know, I do know that its annoying to have to make saves on the damage that you have inflicted on him for yourself once your done.

What I do like in the HH series is how despite him being such an awesome swordsman and all that, he still gets his butt kicked.

 

Then again, I think the EC are just into that.

Quick Update:
Only managed to achieve a small portion of what I wanted to finish due to the summer fair going on, and little minions of chaos my kids wanting to attend it. So all in all, got some of the robe work done on the Captain and Terminators and the gold work finished but not washed onto the Captain.

Still have a bunch of detail work to do to the front and rear portions of the robes for this guy, but so far I am happy with the way he is turning out.
