Awesome Rapier! From where is that banner?

Thanks! The banner is from the Chaos Marauder kit. :)

The heresy on the banner is dangerously awesome

Liking that will cause my damnation.

Oh please like it then! Do it. Do it!

The rapier looks nice, although the OSL on the lascannons looks a little off to me.... Can't tell if it is because you cannot see the glowing rings, or that none of the glow from it is on the shield plate... Which would be a cool illumiination effect for the lightning.

Also love how you collect your corks :)

Alright, I managed to finally snap some pictures of the second half of the ten-man Khornate CSM squad I finished yesterday:

And with thaty, I finished the first of three ten-man Khornate Chaos Space Marines with two meltaguns:

Now, to get them a Rhino.... :biggrin.:

I'm also starting to re-base the two five-man Berzerker squads I painted back in early 2015. They all have MkIII legs and with the BoP box I have, it should be easy to expand them with five men each, of which two per squad carry meltaguns. This way, I'll only have to paint ten more guys and three more Rhinos to complete the 1250 KDK list I've been (test-)gaming with for the past couple of weeks. It's a fluffy, not super competitive list, but I managed to play and win four very exciting games with it so far.

Here is the 1250 KDK list:
HQ: Khorne Lord on Juggernaut with Fistyclaws and Sigil of Corruption

Troops: 3x (10 Khornate CSM with 2 meltaguns in Rhino with Dozer Blade)

Fast Attack: 10 Flesh Hounds

Heavy Support: 2x Maulerfiend

It has plenty of redundancy, 6 scoring units, no anti-air, but plenty of anti-hord and anti-armour to make up for that - plus a perfect (fast moving, hard-hitting and tough) delivery system (the Flesh Hounds) for the hard-as-nails Lord. :smile.: I'll use the two Blood Slaughterers I painted during the last ETL as Maulerfiends.

Anyway, thanks for looking!

@ Nemac Vradon: Thanks, buddy! Yeah the banner does look pretty cool, no? :smile.:

@ dantay_xv: That's a good point on the OSL, thanks! I'll fix that when I'll paint the other two Laser Destroyer Rapier.s

Alright, Call of Chaos is ending on Thursday and I still need to paint two Iron Circle models if I want to remain not a spawn.

So I assembled the last of the three boys I have and undercoated it. You probably can't see it that well, but the Iron Circle model's legs are semi-mono pose, in that the knee is set at a specific angle, and the left leg is always in front - the last of which is verty easily adjusted with a simple saw-and-reattach-with-a-pin maneuver that I just named as such.  ;)

I already finished the hazard striped on this model as I type this, and am currently in the process of highighting the black areas. Then, it's just the brass edging and the green details, and we're done! Hopefully I can finish this today. Otherwise I have tomorrow to do this :)

Cheers!

Nice work with the warriors of Khorne, liking the use of the reavers.

Thanks buddy! Yeah the reavers are cool models. A bit smallish, but acceptable to use in conjunction with the other SM range.

This thread is beyond words.

Thanks! And, well, your books are pretty awesome. :)

I'll find some for you!

Baldy with raised sword is eye- catching in that blasphemous kinda way.

As a baldy myself, I take that as a compliment. :tu:

Both the rapier and the khornate CSM look great, the Night Lord banner being specially awesome.

Cheers, buddy! That banner is the third of its kind in the Night Lords army. I can't help but get back to it time and time again. I'll probably feature it on one of the Khornate Squads too. :)

Boom! I finished painting, basing and weathering the two Iron Circle Domitar-Ferrum Class Battle Automata!

Here's the jolly duo:

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Iron%20Warriors/WP_20161214_007%202_zps19psdvuf.jpg

And here are pictures from each individual miniature from a couple different angles.

I'm particularly pleased with how this one turned out. You see, the Iron Circle miniatures have pretty fixed leg poses in that you have to place the left leg in front. This limits the amount of poses obviously, so I decided to alter that and do some sawing and some re-pinning/glueing. As such, this one is posed with the right leg in front, a conversion that is both simple and subtle, but which gives the unit some much needed variety.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Iron%20Warriors/Iron%20Circle%202_zpsonp4ko8q.jpg

Speaking of a lack of variety - actually the Iron Circle model is incredibly posable. I'm just a nitpicker that is very anal about leg poses. As you also can see, I tried to make the distribution of the hazard stripes, black, and metal on the armour plates and particularly on the shields, as varied as possible, which gives the unit a very unique character, if I may say so myself.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Iron%20Warriors/Iron%20Circle%203_zpsm4rowfys.jpg

Now, I already had finished one for the ETL this year. That one's pictures were crap, so I made new ones of it during this shoot:

And with him, I now have a proper maniple of three!

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Iron%20Warriors/WP_20161214_011%202_zpsxjf4738u.jpg

I´m feeling a sudden urge to paint a certain Primarch, Iron Havocs, and Tyrant Siege terminators! :)

Thanks for looking and commenting!

@ Atia: Haha if there'd be any daemon world I would love to be a Spawn on, it'd be on yours. Unlucky for you, I just finished my Call of Chaos vow, and as such will have to pass on the opportunity. :whistling:

Thanks, you two.

After the two iron Circle models, I had a bit of a walker vibe, so I started work on the Leviathan. I was interrupted by the Rogue One premiere, though, so this is where I am now.

@ Atia: Maybe another time. I'd prefer a Collar of Khorne, though. ;)

@ Race Bannon: We as in, you, I, all of us. The end times are near. No point denying.  :p

Looking great, I especially like the fact you've varied the hazard stripes on the Domitar-Ferrums' shields. It does help a lot breaking up the overall colour scheme without looking out of place. Definitely looking forward to seeing what you do with the Leviathan dread!

  • 2 weeks later...

Right, it's been a while. Christmas happened. I hope it was happy and merry for all. I'm sure I gained 5kg over the last weeks. Hopefully I've recovered enough after my operation to get all of that excess weight off.

Anyway, the Leviathan is finished! Allow me to present:

 ++ Honourable Volt Gerbrandt ++

// Leviathan Siege Dreadnought attached to the Fifth Company Imperial Fists \\

++ Veteran of the Siege of Terra ++

His arms and missile rack are fully magnetized, and his banner pole is detacheable, which allows me multiple weapon configurations. Currently I have a Storm Cannon and a Cyclonic Melta Lance for him as ranged weapons, and a Siege Drill for close combat support. The weapon part of the close combat arm is also detachable, allowing me to add a Siege Claw if I would so choose. I'm planning on making a leviathan for my HH Iron Warriors too, and they'll also have red details, so I can freely swap them around. :smile.:

Thanks! Yeah, the run the risk of becoming quite monotone because of that huge shield. The hazard stripes and alternating black and metal fields, as well as the weapon pose and leg repose all help to create a varied look in what is otherwise a fairly bland model. Wait what? No, that's not right. The Iron Circle models are very unique models. It's just that for some reason, they 'feel' very monotone when you're putting them together.

It is looking great brother, you get a perfect tone of yellow for the Imperial Fists. I'm looking forward for your Iron Warriors version. Also ,using the same colour for the weapons of both is a great idea, might steal it for the future...

Thanks, guys!

I've been very inspired lately to work on my 1250 Khorne Daemonkin list. As I've written before, it includes three ten-man squads of Khornate Marines with two meltaguns. Unfortunately, the Khorne Berzerker kit nor the Chaos Space Marine kit are very interesting to me anymore, especially considering all the new plastics that have come out in recent years. So I've delved into the new world of AoS miniatures, specifically the Khorne Bloodwarriors kit. Except for their boots, they merely need a pistol and a backpack to make them look like power armoured marines, or at least heavily corrupted power armoured marines. So I did just that, and ignored the fact that they have leather boots on. And I must say it was a very inspiring and enthusing experience!

Here's the result, the first half of a ten-man squad:

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/World%20Eaters/temporary_zpsytyfa5si.jpg

I've used the DV bolter chosen and given them some HH meltaguns and replaced their heads wth spare heads from the Bloodwarriors kit, and they look the part - I think I even managed to make them look suitably different, even thought they have the same base miniature:

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/World%20Eaters/temporary_zpsohkdesty.jpg

Of course, these marines need to ride into battle in style, so I have also begun work on a Rhino. I've used the fabulous Choas trim kit by Subtle Discord on it, as well as a FW dozer blade.

Sadly, I forgot to make a proper WiP picture of it (I have two more of them in the pipeline, so no worries), so you'll have to do with this 50% done picture.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/World%20Eaters/temporary_zpsioac4igi.jpg

I hope you like them! Thanks for looking and please, your 'likes' are appreciated, but comments with feedback and critique is truly much more inspiring to me. So if you like the pictures, feel free to press like, but I'd much rather you left a comment. I always respond to each and every one of them! :tu:

@ The Traitor: Thanks buddy! The yellow was a lucky find, truth be told. It's simply GW Averland Sunsent shades with a 1:1 mix of GW Averland Sunset and VMA Hull Red, and edge highlighted with a 1:1 mix of GW Averland Sunset and GW Yriel Yellow.

@ Xanthier: Indeed! I'll only have one, though. I hope that isn't too dissapointing. ;)

@ Scion of Ferrus: Sure you can! Although.... I won't be working on XIV Assault Squad for quite some time, and there are still two spots open to name in XIII Assault Squad. Would you like to name one of its battle brothers instead? And if so, what would be the name? :tu:
