Oh I thought he WANTED the plague caster to look like that... like... come and be blessed by Nurgle. I guess its a matter of preference, you see so many sorcerers casting spells with their palms out in their blast the bad guy with mind bullets pose, I thought the inviting someone into chaos made a nice change of pace. if you the want "blam blam" beams of psychic rot look... then I agree with Krautscientist, the upward palm isnt doing him any favours.

Thanks guys!

I find myself being sorry for not bringing any hobby stuff to the Southern-French cottage in which I'm currently staying. I've been browing the forum fo a couple days now and my hobby juices an creativity are going wild. I've come up with some excellent ideas for a next Nurgle flying Daemon prince, which I'll base on the Mourngul. I'll be equiping it with OOP metal Nightmare wings, DP plastic shoulder pads and some cabling to signify his Astartes heritage. His hand will most likely grab into a terminator instead of the horse the miniature comes with... In addition, I'm dreaming of converting Blightlord Terminators to all wield combiplasmas and axes, and finally starting the MkIIb Land Raider with frater Maarten's track kit. There's also three rhino's, three PBCs, and 30 plaguebearers I'm dying to start. And here I am in France with no hobby gear! Aaargh!

@ hushrong: Haha yeah, I'm glad I managed to cancel that stupid comic look.

@ Pandoras Bitz Box: Hobbying all day every day.... what a dream would that be. Although I'd start to feel burned out I'm sure.

@ Vairocanum: Cheers, buddy! Haha, I'm glad you too see it that way!

@ The Traitor: Isn't it? That stupid branch looked soooo incredibly comical and idiotic. It took the whole 'I'm a former Librarian of the Legiones Astartes now dedicated to the God of Decay' and replaced it with 'Hey guys, look at me! I have a branch bent into three circles and I can fart out of my mouth weeeee". Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

@ guardian31: Cheers, mate!

@ Hungry Nostraman Lion: Haha he's not quite C'thulu!

@ KrautScientist: Hahahaha I hit a nerve called Elzas there, no? About the hand: I really don't feel like there's much of a difference between casting a spell with the palm downwards or the palm upwards. As I did my loyalist Librarians with the pal downward, I thought I'd mix it up a bit and do this guys with the palm upward. But I see what you mean with the dancing invitation... I'll give it a go when I get back.

Hahaha feeling for you Augustus, came back yesterday from a week away at the Canary Islands and already spent 5 hours painting a bought the start of a new army ;)! Plastic is too addictive.

And yeah, the branch was stupid, I really don't like some of the design choices GW has made with nurgle, sometimes it looks too comical

and finally starting the MkIIb Land Raider with frater Maarten's track kit.

About bloody time.

Jokes aside, thoroughly enjoying this project and especially looking forward to that mourngul conversion, the pictures on fw's website really don't do that thing justice.

Yeah the MkIIb-kit and your add-on have been beckoning me, Maarten! I'll also be adding Subtle Discord's Dover Blade (pictured below and available here) to it, so in combination with my Nurgle-ification stuff, and some FW Death Guard Legion and Chaos doors, hopefully it'll be a wonderfully unique design.

@ The Traitor: Luckily we're team chaos, and we've never let stupid designs get into the way of converting them into cool miniatures :thumbsup:

Some minor cutting will be required to make the two kits play nice together, but nothing you can't handle. It is going to be one of the coolest and most expensive raiders in the world.

Crap, you're right. Its components include GBP103 in the actual Raider and DG Legion and Chaos DG doors, CAD11 for the ram, and USD45 for the Sagittarius Land Raider Conversion kit with Liberator tracks. So that's about €160 for the Land Raider. And that's excluding shipping and customs for the ram and the conversion kit, as well as paint and further conversion stuff to Nurglify it....

Hotdamn.

@ Viridia: Thanks, buddy! And go for it!

Pricey but soooo worth it! Even with all the FW goodness I still get excited with the old plastic GW Land Raider because I remember it being released and 'updated' after years of no kit!! I'm debating going to town on my own Command Land Raider - I might try to out do you! Haha

I had a similar Land Raider idea for my space sharks, but as that's a side-side project, so I never pulled the trigger. Super excited to see how it turns out so I'll be watching with high interest.

Might make me go back and save up for it if looks as good as I imagine it will

Your blight haulers and latest squad turned out great.

I'm looking forward to your Land Raider.

Your thread is fantastic, I've been making good use of the index to follow your tutorials. A really useful resourse for the community. Thanks!

I also am partly blaming you for my recent fall to Nurgle once again.

Alright, tonight is the night. After a week of vacation and some intense weeks of works before and afterwards, I go back to focus on the ETL.

OR IS IT?

It is. But I also got distracted. You see, KrautScientist made some annoying sense again and called out my lackluster conversion/improvement of the Noxious Blightbringer. Apparently the hand with the palm facing upwards looks like it's beckoning instead of like it's casting. So I fixed it last night in five minutes! I thought it'd be a big problem as the vambrace is turned around... so I just sawed off the entire vambrace, turned it around, and pinned it back in place with a blob of GreenStuff in between. Done! :)

What do you think? Let me know!

Now, on to painting Typhus and his bodyguard....

Cheers!

@ Eldrick Shadowblade: DM boxset?

@ Lord Commander Eidolon: Yeah dude, when it was rereleased in 1998, I was thrilled and did two - a Nurgle one and a Khornate one. :)

@ TURBULANCE: PULL THE TRIGGER!!!

@ hushrong: Cheers! 'Unique Death Guard charm' sounds lovely!

@ Krakendoomcool: Hey, that's nice of you to say, buddy! Thanks!

I love it! Plus, you can imagine him just reaching out for his next victim.

The only thing killing me though is a mold line running down the center of the helm. Any chance to remove it and touch up the paint to this stage?

And when it comes to sounds form the Death Guard all I can imagine are weird crunchy pops followed by a squish. :)

Glad to see you back at work, buddy! Hope you had a nice vacation, though! :smile.:

Well, what can I say -- it seemed like the perfect opportunity to connect two German national pasttimes -- being annoying and being right

@ hushrong: Ouch. Well spotted -- that said, it could also be another - very straight - cat hair

Haha I think I have another land raider themed project I should do first, one that's also death guard instead of filthy loyalists. But that will be Homebrew VDR

Aaaanyway.. definite improvement on the plague caster. Very much throwing his psychic dakka now

Cheers, peeps!

Typhus is finished!!!

I'm right now doing the final touches on his Deathshroud Terminator bodyguard.

Hope you like!

Cheers!

@ hushrong: Goddamnit, I'll remove it pre-paint. Thanks for pointing it out. About the sounds: you mean zits popping?

@ KrautScientists: Hahaha well you succeeded. Not at getting out of the World Cup, but still. :p AND IT'S NOT A HAIR!!! ;)

@ TURBULENCE: VDR? Wazza?

@ Eldrick Shadowblade: Haha so many people have said that!

Man that pose is pretty good, but after seeing a few conversions of him holding a guardsman/tau/etc and looking up at them, the generic box pose kinda fizzles.

That said, your paintjob is wonderful! You really made him pop... pop... popping pustules!

He looks great and dark(?). I love it thought.

Around his head, especially the armor behind and above his head is just dark and looks creepy. It looks fantastic amongst the dirty cream and green of his armor.

Excited to see the bodyguard now that we've seen Typhus in all his glory.
