Wow, nice job Auggs! I think you guys are crazy for adding details you'll probably never see, but I've got to hand it to you, you do it well.

Are you carrying over the theme from the Knight?

Fantastic work on those Armiger interiors! I had to smile at seeing the flat surfaces on the sides, as one of my pilots looks the exact same way on one side -- not much space in there, right? ;)

The Titan Principes work really well -- although I'd say the second one could do with a more interesting/distressed/chaotic head. The reactor block, in particular, is an ingenious bit of kitbashing! Excellent work!

I realise you are under a tight deadline, but please don't rush these too much and take your time (as much as you can, at any rate) to work on their exteriors as well. I am really looking forward to seeing what you have planned for them! By the way, was it a conscious choice to mix and match the Warglaive and Helverin armour plates on the same model, or were you just tacking them on there for a quick mockup?

Big Nurgle Daemon update: I finished all units that only on Monday were all unpainted (and excepting the Poxbringer, also unbuild). So here's what I have:

Plaguebearers (30 of 'm)

Nurgling Bases (3 of 'm). These werec oncstructed using the Nurglings from three sets of plaguebearers and the Foul Blightspawn, Tallyman, and Mortarion Death Guard characters.

So, that's them. Now onward to the Helverins!

Comments, thoughts, feedback and banter most welcome.

Cheers!

@ ElDuderino: That is indeed a terminator back used for the engine exhausts! The other part os from the Knight melta weapon.

@ Biohazard: Thanks! Plasticard is a great material to work with, actually. You just need a thin, metal ruler and a sharp knife to make it work.

@ Doghouse: Thank you!

@ DuskRaider: Hey, we are crazy. We just work each other up to greater hobby heights. It's called peer pressure  The Armigers will have the same theme as the Knnight, yes :smile.:

@ KrautScientist: Glad you like them! And yes, space is cramped in there. I actually thought the second one had a particularly nice 'mad scientist' look about him! And don;t worry, I will not rush these. I'll hopefully start them, but seeing as the tournament is a training for an actual ITC tournament in Manchester, units don;t have to be finished. About the mixing of parts: that was intentional and also: well spotted!:smile.:

Oh man those cockpits are brilliant!

Just a little more cramped than a knight because as a pilot you also just matter less than the Lord.

Some great detail in there, clever use of the terminator torso too.

I wish I was even 10% as effective at painting armies as you are..... I'll try to at least have a unit painted next game.

It's great to see that you're still around and kicking, Augustus! Absolutely lovely work with the Nurgle daemons and I'll have to take the time when I can to filter through all of your stuff since my hiatus!

Great work on these Augs. The cockpit looks great and I love the engine block, fantastic idea. I totally bottled it on my open cockpit and just hid the interior differently rather than accurately expose it.

That's Poxbringer is such a simple but effective idea, it looks so much more badass then the usual plague bearers but with total continues. The paint job ties it up so nicely it just seems like a legit model. Fantastic work, makes me wish I had nurgle so I could try out some of your ideas.

Great stuff as usual man! :) I have finally caught up with your blog. Again..

I am loving those Nurglings having a bath in Nurgle knows what! Also, the cockpits that you are making are crazy, can't wait to see those finished.

Also, also.. That Lord is an amazing use of parts. I am not too keen on that head but you have made it work.

Sorry for the long hiatus, guys. I've been very busy with - well with life? I don't know. I'm constantly craving some hobby time and today my patience (or lack thereof) was rewarded with three blissful hours. So I started working on the Knight!

Here's what I have so far.

bhqfSfE.jpg

I went with the colour scheme of Renegade Knight House Atrax, with less red details and more black. The house's sigil, three sable swords on a field of gules, will be easy enought to freehand on future Knights. This one simply doesn't have the space for insignia - although perhaps I'll redo the shield.

Let me know what you think!

@ Maarten: Thanks, bro! Glad you like the interior designs so much. Also: next game - when??

@ Sgt. Blank: Thank you! It was very easy to make this conversion - it really only took a blob of greenstuff to sculpt the neck.

@ Noctis Cornix: haha cheers, buddy! Glad to see you're back too. I'll have a looksee through your stuff as well :)

@ brettfp: I appreciate it, mate!

@ Pandoras Bitz Box: I'd love to see some of your future nurgle stuff :) Thanks for the kind words :tu:

@ Aslomov: The head is made to fit a miniature that belows and screams to the gods. I don't like the head either, but in this pose it's just perfect :D

The Knight is looking fantastic so far. What color will the trim be again? Now you're seeing the issue I have with the FW Knight as well, it's almost impossible to add heraldry to anything but the tilt shield. Just too much going on and for me the decals were almost impossible to place.

That Knight is already looking absolutely sick, buddy! I think I spy a certain Morbäck/Plaguebones-influence, although the model is still very much its own thing. Excellent work so far! Extra kudos for the lovely red chevrons! :)

Love the nurgling bases! Been thinking of doing that with some of the extras myself. I'll likely be doing some reposing on the other bases to. Not sure if I love the "nurgling pyramid" of the standard bases.  That Pox bringer is dead sexy!! Great use of that model. I might have to loot that idea myself. The knight looks great so far as well.

Really like the conversion you have done in the head, I did a similar thing with the skull mask but using one of the other masks for an Optimus Prime style mask. The colours are also great together :tu:. Excited to see where this goes.

Apologies it has been so long since I updated this thread, everyone. Life decided it would be a good time to put both I and my girlfriend on sick leave, so we've been holed up in the house for four weeks. Imagine being with your SO in the same house 24/7 for four weeks, when you're both not feeling all that well. I love her to death, but I really wanted to make that happen sometimes, lol. Luckily, this situation is now over, so...

But, when life gives you lemons, you build and paint a Renegade Knight, apparently. :biggrin.:

HERE HE IS!!

Plus, of course, the interior!

And, since he's magnetized, an alternative loadout!

Hurray!

Now, it took about six weeks to finish this thing from zero, so it's perfectly possible to finish the two Renegade Armiger Helverins I need to do before the GT the weekend after next, right? Right.

Comments and feedback most welcome!

He'll get a name, as will his driver, but since I need to make dinner now, that'll have to wait.

Cheers!

@ Maarten: 2020, it's a date! And thanks!

@ ElDuderino: Red and Bronze is the way to go, as long as there is something to break it up. Look at Kraut's Gilgamesh Knight - it has blues, blacks and steel parts. Also, with magnets, you don't have to decide on the loadout!

@ Biohazard: He's finished, let me know what you think!

@ DuskRaider: There's actually not a single decal on there!

@ KrautScientist: Morbäck/Plaguebones influence? Where?

@ rednekkboss: Lots of nice things said about lots of models! Thanks, buddy!

@ Nemac Vradon: As it turned out, the horn-beard made the head not fit properly, so I had to cheat a little. Shhhh

Dang, buddy, that Knight is a towering achievement indeed! Brilliant work!

I especially love how you have successfully countered the goofiness of those FW Renegade Knight armour plates by painting the remains of a fairly strict heraldry on top -- it's an effect I don't think I have seen used like that before, and it really works! Also, that cockpit is such a neat conversion, and even better when painted! The cast on the pilot does seem a bit dodgy, though, and I wonder if you could actually camouflage that with a few more painting tweaks.

If I have one issue with the model, it's that I think the head doesn't really read as a point of focus when looking at the entire piece -- weirdly enough, this problem kinda resembles a similar issue on your Nurglite Daemon Prince, and I think the solution would be the same as before: Maybe his head/facemask/helmet needs some red? Either as a red stripe running down the forehead, or some red on those side panels?

I also think the blue jewel/Eye of Horus ornament on his shin guard would work better if you were to take its centre to an even brighter colour: The very center should be almost white. Right now, it looks a bit too much like this big blue piece of candy.

Such minor issues notwithstanding, however, fantastic work all around! :)

@ KrautScientist: Morbäck/Plaguebones influence? Where?

The bone white and red look really resembles Morbäck's paintjob for his Plaguebone army, is what I meant. Plus I remember linking you to one of his Knights for inspiration, so maybe you did take some of that look onboard for your own model? A certain resemblance is certainly there.

*snip*

@ Nemac Vradon: As it turned out, the horn-beard made the head not fit properly, so I had to cheat a little. Shhhh

Can't tell, look's incredible :tu:, and with the paint it is fantastic. Great work Augustus :D

Nemac

What a beauty!

I agree with kraut about the heraldry, it is such a cool idea and strangely original. I can't seem to recall another chaos knight using it, most are fairly simple scheme wise. This of course makes sense if the knight is aligned with a certain warband, and makes for cohesive army, but now I really want to try something similar.

The conversion work is of course cool as hell too, but this is one of the few cases where a paintjob steals the show for me.
