WarriorFish
The bases come together nicely, a good fit for the scheme. Though they do look a little plain, perhaps in need of some Eldars bits and pieces?
Kierdale
Thanks. Yes, the biker ones do look a little sparse. One reason is that, on the Armies On Parade board, they'll be driving up a road across the middle of the board. Then again it is a warzone, not a park (well, it's a Biel Tan maiden world being invaded so I guess it is both a park and a warzone) so I may add more debris once the whole thing is coming together. The units closer to the enemy (one squad of Daemonettes in particular) will have Eldar (body) parts on their bases. I also got the Space Murder Clown Solitaire for two reasons: 1. Nostalgia. Harlequins were some of my first minis. The old box of 20-or-so metal ones waaaaaay back. 2. To have the Solitaire dueling against my Slaaneshi 'Typhus' as a centrepiece on the AoP board. Aaaaand I took Oyumaru moulds of the Eldar ruin on his base. 6 moulds, in fact, which all have GS curing in them now. That should provide some more basing materials, and make the board seem more authentically Eldar, for want of a better term. Kierdale
Some progress on the second NM squad: Aaaaaand....orange!!! And I did some work on a second spawn, but I want to wait until construction has finished before I show that particular nasty. WarriorFish
Looking good Kier, the yellow cheques look very nice and the conversions are popping with some paint on. I especially like the forward grip on the bolter :)
Kierdale
Thanks! I hope to do a (loyalist) marine kill team sometime (as I have the codex but don't use it) and do them with gizmo-clad bolters, foregrips, sights and the like. That NM one was a bit of a test. Progress is slow but steady on those noise marines. I finished making my second spawn and am working on Daemonettes: mixing and matching Daemonettes with DE Witch bitz and the opposite. The fact that Daemonette heads have necks and Witch bodies have necks means one gets it cut off...and in the case of Witch heads on Daemonette bodies neither had a neck so some GS will be needed. Photos of the Daemonettes and the Spawn to come soon. I'll probably keep both for the ETL as they need less colours than my Psychopomps. Aaaand I got to work with my Oyumaru making moulds again.... I now have 25 Daemonette and Witch faces. For what? You'll have to wait and see. Forté 1 Back to top
WarriorFish
Keep working hard Kier, Slaanesh demands nothing less than perfection of course ;) I might have some idea about the face usage, but probably best to wait and see like you say... I'm sure it'll be good (in the same way the spawn was I'm sure)! :P
Kierdale
Out of interest, what's your idea on the face-usage? If your idea is different from my actual intention, perhaps I'll make more so I can use your idea It's been a busy week so I don't have any Daemonette photos worth posting yet. I'll hold off on the spawn too until I've got some `nettes and the spawn undercoated. Some Noise Marine progress: First up the one who'll be holding a trophy shuriken catapult. His decoration started as a tentacle coiling up his leg...and evolved into two snakes, both coiling up his right leg, one then crossing his buttplate and both terminating in their heads painted either side of his crotchblade. Tongues out, naturally. And his backpack has Slaanesh's icon drapped slitheringly across the vent pods. Backpack of the squad's blastmaster-wielder. Whoops: pink on a metallic area. And added some freehand to the left shoulder of the other two: I suppose this means Twin Snakes up there needs some freehand on his left shoulder. Suggestions? Bear in mind it'll have the warband icon over the top in the end... And one member awaits his decoration: As green on purple worked well with the blastmaster-wielder, I'm thinking of using purple on this one. No decisions on the form of the decoration yet, though... And I'm going to throw some money Forge World's way soon: autocannons for some Havocs. Imperial Armour 13. Perhaps a Rapier which I'll customise so I can use it with the laser destroyer, ectoplasm cannon, hades or a conversion beamer I have lying about as the mood takes me. (And some Cadian hostile environ heads for a different project WarriorFish knows about...) Teetengee and Beachymike123 2 Back to top
WarriorFish
Exquisite detail, you will have to show your opponent each model up close before a game so they can properly appreciate the effort that has been put in! The amount of time on the coiling snakes alone is bonkers! What about a diamond cheque for a shoulder pad? Regarding the faces, I was thinking of either some base pile to stand atop or a cloak/spawn of many faces or something along those lines... BetterOffShred
Those guys look fantastic! The one dude with checker-board greaves reminds me of Shaco from League of Legends.. Huehuehue! The spiderweb on the other dudes shoulder is fantastic too! I drink too much (or not enough) to have steady enough hands for that level of detail, My hat goes off to you sir! -Brett
Dragonlover
I am stealing so many ideas from this plog for when I get to the Emperor's Children. That freehanding is stunning. Dragonlover
Kierdale
Thank you for the comments. A lot of faces on a spawn is one idea I am thinking of doing. But that's not what I made all of them for... I'll post a teaser in good time. Meanwhile, Noise Marine progress: Twin Snakes ended up with this shoulderpad. I didn't go with diamonds as the orange one's checks were already canted a bit, and checks seemed a bit angular compared to the snakes. Someone has already described it as "a creepy orifice". Nice. And all five, still WIP... Still working on fleshtones and leather. Metallics still to do, as well as the Banshee flag on the blast master's knee. He'll probably have his left foot atop a big Eldar waystone soulstone thingy. Progress is coming along nicely on the Daemonettes. I should have them ready to do in the ETL (though not for the start of it. In fact I'm going to be off the net for three weeks soon). Aaand I still haven't put in my FW order. I'm now thinking: IA 13 Legion autocannons Marine rapier ...and perhaps these: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Images/Product/DefaultFW/large/nl-mkIV-heads.jpg The bottom middle one for Angra: my Dark Apostle as it screams `chaplain` (though it'll be stowed on the back of his backpack anyway...or perhaps at his foot so it can be seen better. Yes), and some of the others for my raptors. Skull masks as the icon of my chapter warband is a skull. The rest of the helmet and armour will be the usual pastel pink with other colours so there shouldn't be any risk of mistaking them for those 8th legion thugs What do you think? WarriorFish
Those are some very cool helmets! Surely they'd be ever better in offensive colours? :P Your Marines are coming along fantasticly, it's a good job they're worth quite a bit more than Guardsmen or your army will never be done

Get the Night Lord Terror squad helmet. There really cool. Pretty much useing these though out my own Iron Warriors force. Also I think Armour 13 would be good for you. Just art work, I belive there a few Slannesh warband art work on a Fire Raptor? Also the background. I'm waiting on armour 13 to arrive this week along with the IW's rhino part & the new MkII helmet. Kierdale
Thanks for the advice, WarriorFish and Insane Psychopath. I ordered IA13, the Terror squad helmets, marine rapier and some other toys which are likely to come in useful at some point for some army (legion combi-weapons, graviton guns and volkite calivers). Edit: D'oh! I forgot the autocannons while I was distracted by other candy! Forté 1 Back to top
Teetengee
There are some nice slaaneshi vehicles in IA13. You will like it.
Kierdale
Thanks :) I look forward to getting it. FW tells me it has been dispatched. I also ordered the autocannons today. Some Havocs with them should make for an interesting looking unit. I'll have to hold up some of those alternative dragonesque muzzles from the Chaos tank sprue next to the autocannons to see if they would be a good conversion... Preparing for the ETL: I have one squad of ten daemonettes ready. The second squad of ten is almost done. Four more need arms and all need GS necks to connect their Dark Elf Sister Of Slaughter masked heads to their daemonette bodies...and a little GS filling here and there. I hope to get that done and them all (and the spawn) undercoated this weekend. From around this time next week, for three weeks, I'll be off the internet... ...then back to get into the ETL and post photos of my FW orders and anything else bought in the meantime (I'll explain when I'm back). Depending on how quickly I get the daemonettes done (they'll have a more limited palette than my Psychopomps) I might try to get my biker lord done for the ETL. One biker I could manage, I think. Kierdale
I look forward to getting it! Not long now. Here are the models I'll be entering for my initial one or two ETL vows. Pardon the black wool backdrop. I took some photos against my usual blue-white backsheet and the models, being black, came out as silhouettes. My black shirt was in the wardrobe and with my son asleep in that room it was unavailable...hence my hat stood in. First up ten Daemonettes: dark elf witch bodies with Daemonette heads. For each, one crab hand and a human hand on the other side. All armed with whips but for the Alluress, who has a knife (aetherblade when necessary) and a larger claw. I removed their left breasts and trimmed the torso on that side.I love the poses in the DE witch kit and it left me with a wealth of great bitz. Some of these Daemonettes had more work than others to get further original poses. I photographed them with their body-doubles for comparison purposes. Those with hair will get it done in pastel shades like the first squad of noise marines' topknots. These ten will be based as if skipping their way through ruins (and hopping across a river, actually). And the 'opposite ten': Daemonette bodies and Sister of Slaughter masks (I'm keen on painting them as if they're jade). Claws and knives for these. Again a fancy knife, larger claw, shoulder armour and a cool mask for the Alluress. Her comrade here keeps her knife hidden coyly behind her back. I rather like these poses. Using some of the Witch arms with shoulder armour attached I could get away from the set Daemonette arm posing. Just needed a little GS filling. These ten will be based on grassy turf with scattered Eldar body parts, as if they've just done a bit of butchering. A fair few nasty looking knives, some whips and Sister of Slaughter masks left :tu: I plan to get another box of both kits so I can bulk up each squad to eighteen members. Why not 20? Because I want to use some parts of both to make a pair of Slaanesh heralds. And lastly...Congratulations....it's an abomination!two victims, both with their arms amputated and pins driven into the marrow of the stumps, chaining them together. The lower of the two no longer had a head, and a gore-coated, not-yet-fully-formed Daemonette is bursting from their belly. I'll be away from the internet for the next few weeks. Hopefully I can hit the ground running painting when I'm back. See you all then. Beachymike123
Those look awesome Kierdale. I've always thought that Daemonettes look like mockeries of Eldar, and you using Dark Elf parts reinforces this. Great work there buddy, can't wait to see them with a lick of paint on. Kierdale
I'm back from my three weeks back in the UK. I'd forgotten how changeable British weather is, though we had an excellent time. :) Unpacking is pretty much complete but the jetlag is taking quite some getting over, particularly in the case of my (2 year old) son. Poor mite. And if he doesn't sleep, no one sleeps. I did get some paint onto the first ten Daemonettes during my lunch hour though. It felt good to have a brush in my hand again for the first time in three weeks! And I did a lot of miniature-buying while back home. Too much to list, but a lot of it for the Psychopomps and the Armies on Parade board. Slaanbull 1 Back to top
