Rune Priest Jbickb
I love Ragnars rules (point cost aside) and his fluff and the bulk of my collection is Ragnars gc (a little Logan grimnar in there too he us the boss after all). But man do I wish for a better model for him. I may convert one one day but I hope he is released when we get a new dex. skeletoro
I think Ragnar plus Arjac together in a pack (wg or gh) would make for a rather scary death star unit. Arjac could take challenges for Rags where necessary, though sometimes Ragnar might prefer to issue them (where all enemy characters are in it 4 or less and lack 2+ saves). Warrior born is a tad better in 7th, though no consolidation into close combat makes it hard to get momentum up. Ragnar's buffs are actually pretty amazing though. Arguably, however, he's overcosted. I agree that he should have 2+/4++, and also think he should have initiative 6. Frostfang should at the very least be rending, perhaps even ap2. With all those improvements, his price tag would be well worth it. Dantay VI
Yeah, if they don't do a resculpt on Ragnar, I plan to make my own, using Korsarro Khan as the basis of the model. Isn't it in the rules that Arjac must issue and receive challenges to enemy characters? That would mean te only way to get Ragnar into a challenge would be in the second round of combat with a heroic intervention? skeletoro
Oh, forgot that. Not a big problem, though. I think normally you'd want Arjac to be challenging Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291735-the-wolf-lords-thread/page/2/#findComment-3716360 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
I just like the thought of overwatching with his boomerang hammer :) before a challenge is made. But Arjac is the one to take challenges, then you see Ragnar go nuts at the foot troops and if you get a second round of cambat watch him finish them off almost single-handed with saga of the warrior born :) If the hammer hits on a 6 in overwatch, is it a precision shot and you get to choose who takes the strength 10 hit?? skeletoro
Sadly, characters don't automatically get precision shots anymore! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291735-the-wolf-lords-thread/page/2/#findComment-3716377 Share on other sites
Rune Priest Jbickb
And precision shot does not apply to snap shots (ie overwatch) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291735-the-wolf-lords-thread/page/2/#findComment-3716392 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
Darn! I must start getting more familiar with the rules. This is what happens when you only get about 3 games a year. pedrogzc
My Wolf Lord. Always run him with Saga of the Bear, Runic Armour and Wolftooth necklace and escorted by his 3 thunderwolves friend with two shields and a power fist. Expensive unit. I use them in a droppod army with real success. I launch 2 pods in the thick of the battle, where in my 2º turn the "dogs" will hit. Mid and backfield filled with more grey hunters in rhino/razorback and long fangs. mactire
Wolf Lord Erik Morkai of Tra, Great Company of the Rout. Always loved the Tyberos figure so decided to wolf it up a bit. To get the "twin" feeling between this and the Runepriest I used the heads from the SM Librarian and this one from the new Sternguard set, as they are quiet similar with the stare, tidy beard and overall shape and they also look quite severe which suits with Morkai's fluff. Anyway hope ye enjoy. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291735-the-wolf-lords-thread/page/2/#findComment-3754148 Share on other sites
CatSmasher
Here are my Lords. I mixed a few kits together including one of the special order web sergeants, and a space marine captain sprue. I opted to have the claws match at the traditional marine length to make it unique From behind Only the double claw has seen the table since I almost always put my lord on a thunderwolf. Wulfebane
Been gone a while, but Valerian reached out to pull me out of the depths of the Fang, so I felt obliged to post something. Wolf Lord Thane Brazenclaw the Redeye. One of the more boastful of the Wolf Lords in recent milennia, Thane was a clan leader and accomplished raider among the islands of Fenris before becoming one of the Chosen Sky warriors. His braggart nature is embellished by the many trophies and ostentatious ornamentation that he always carries with him into battle.. so as to remember the life and grandeur he once had below the cliffs of Asaheim. And my counts-as Ragnar conversion... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291735-the-wolf-lords-thread/page/2/#findComment-3754407 Share on other sites
pedrogzc
aaaah!! Sweet models!!! @wulfebane, where is the right shoulder pad of the terminator lord from? The conversion of Ragnar is great! Is he based in Gabriel Seth, isn't it? Have you modeled the fur pelt? chaplainmikey
Here's mine, ever so slightly converted from the Krom model. KiltedMarine
Wow. Just... Wow. I feel utterly inadequate, now, thanks. Max_Dammit, R_P_R, and Dantay (especially Dantay, no offense to the rest of y'all), I'm a little afraid of looking like a complete piker posting this, but here goes: Lleu Swifthand, of Ceathu Cuideachta (Fourth Company) of the Cwn Annwn, wielding the Beltaine Blade that gives the Company its nickname. I used the 13th company Rune Priest model, swapped his force axe out for the old Terminator Captain sword, and added just a bit of hair to the top of his head to make him look a bit less aged. In game, I run him with Rune Armour, WtN, Frost Blade, Plasma Pistol, and SotB. What unit I attach him to varies, but a lot of the time he runs with the Wolf-Brodyr (the name the Hounds of Arawn give to Blood Claws). EDIT: Wow. Sorry for the huge photo (especially since it so amazingly captures all the flaws in my paint job). Any tips on how to make that a bit less... ginormous? Konnavaer
My wolf lord Harald Redmane leading his brothers into battle, look for him adding to his saga where the fighting is bloodiest and the fiercest enemies of the Rout can be found... http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a513/cfinch88/IMG_1904_zps4f7291d9.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291735-the-wolf-lords-thread/page/2/#findComment-3755242 Share on other sites
KiltedMarine
Wulfebane, that is absolutely stunning work. ::tips hat:: It's a little thing, but I REALLY get a kick out of the way your SShield/FB lord is holding his sword.
