Wolf Lord Rand Wintersbite - The Shield Wolf

Upon ascension to Great Wolf, Logan Grimnar became master not only of his own Great Company, but what effectively amounts to a second Great Company that contains the Priesthood and all Dreadnoughts in the Chapter. Over time, the Loagan understood that to truly be the "Wolf that Stalks Between Stars" his duty required his martial prowess as much as his capable leadership. In his stead, Logan selected the most skilled and capable of the Wolf Guard Battle Leaders within the Champions of Fenris as his retainer. The Shield Wolf, Rand Wintersbite, is acting Wolf Lord for Logan Grimnar while he is not immediately able to fulfill his duty to the Company. Youthful for such a ferocious champion, Rand is already considered the heir apparent for the Great Company should any misfortune befall their fearless leader. As acting Wolf Lord for the Champions of Fenris, he gains access to some of the most vaunted relics in the Fang's arsenal. Choosing for himself the keen Krakenbone sword, he rides into battle on Freyr. The monstrous thunderwolf seems to communicate with Rand through an unspoken bond of trust and respect. Equally dangerous mounted and on foot, Grimnar's faith in the young Lord is absolute and well-founded.

The armor comes from Krom Dragongaze, via Stormclaw set. It is very similar to Ragnar's armor, with the two chains across the chest, the rune on the top chain, Belt of Russ, wolf pelt draped over the right shoulder, and twin wolf heads on the backpack. So considering that, it felt very natural to have my Wolf Lord wearing this armor. The sword is from the new Space Wolves upgrade sprue, and painted the serrations like bones to give it the Krakenbone Sword feel. Everything else comes from the Thunderwolf Cavalry set.

Here is my old Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf, rocking a Wolf Claw +Stormshield, although now he is more likely to see the battlefield as a WGBL:

The blacksmith's apron will be replaced soon with a GSed pelt. Still thinking if i should carve out the head and replace it with a helmeted one so that he keeps in theme with his Wolf Guard retinue.

That's an awesome looking lord brother thirdfox, and from one of my favourite books too, great job ! and for my two cents I would leave the head as it is, that way you can give him really pale skin and make him look even more like a White wolf msn-wink.gif

Try the wolf head in the new upgrade sprue. Gives him a helmet, like his crew, but a more 'special' one.

Oort, the Raging Wolf:

http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a514/rgrmaddog/image.jpg1_zps2sbspznr.jpg

Attempt at fluff:

It is Time

Harsh winter winds assailed the frozen and rocky land scape as a gray sky concealed the precise location of the Wolf's Eye. There was no movement, even the snow wished not to drift in the frigidness, forming a layer of ice across its its now united surface. Oort, the Raging Wolf, who had come to watch over Ragnar Blackmane's Great Company, peered across the vast still oceans of white and rock. His eyes, a frozen blue, consumed all he surveyed and returned only a vacant smoldering to those brave enough to stare into them. He yearned for the return of "the Young King"; to no longer be burdened with the yoke of leadership over the "Gifted One's" Great Company while Ragnar, himself, continued his great hunt. It was nearing a decade since Ragnar departed in search of further honor and glory, and years since his last contact.

Oort maintained his gaze over the Asaheim mountains as footsteps broke the snow behind him. Soon the familiar sent of metal, flesh, and fire washed over him as his half-brother Ockham approached.

"It is time." beaconed Ockham. The words fell from his metal lips, clanking upon each other in the air.

"Even in the dead of a Fenrisian winter, you smell of summer. Not long away from the Isles of Iron and your lava forge?" The contempt woven within these words was not judgmental, but a reflection of their rivalry. A slight against Ockham Ironfangs, who had been separated from his lower jaw, right arm and legs before the Iron Priests recast him.

"Not long; and they are not my forges, but a task I was bequeathed when the need arose and I was best suited to fill it. Not unlike your current roll," countered Ockham with the same tones of brotherly disrespect. It was only a few centuries ago Ockham and Oort had left the long hall of their tribe together in the company of a Sky Warrior. They had fought and drank without peer that night. Oort, because it was his nature, and Ockham, because he had always been in competition with his brother- only one season his senior.

"You are truly... a great bastard," stated Oort through a rare smile as he broke his gaze and turned to embrace his brother. A stoic expression returned to his face before acknowledging "It is time."

And you should know these two:

Might as well pop in a couple pics of my Kromnar* (Ragnar Blackmane based off of the popular Krom Dragongaze model). I chose to magnetize his wrist so that I could swap out between Frostfang and the Black Death, or any other Relic Axe, if I decide to play him as a generic Wolf Lord or Battle Leader. He was painted by Drew Olds, from Garden Ninja Painting, who is my usual guy for my Space Wolves commissions.

* I put up a couple pictures yesterday, but they were too dark, so I've replaced with better photos.

My Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf - JakRen Skauldbane

After a game against the Dark Angels we had two basic marines do the lion and the wolf, which the wolves won, and as a prize The DA player gave me a ThunderHammer and Storm shield to put on a Wolf Guard or something, needless to say that's not where it ended up...........
