Kierdale
I particularly like the alternative multi-laser mount. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292185-4th-tarosian-regiment-devildog/page/11/#findComment-3834211 Share on other sites
elmo
You can never have enough armour ;) Nice alternate ML mount but not fully convinced with the lasguns. Might grow on me though... CoffeeGrunt
I'm quite chuffed with the Multilaser mount, may use it in the future if I do get more Chimeras, (feels scarily inevitable!) The Lasguns I'll admit aren't ideal, but I'm not a big fan of the normal mounting for them, and a standard Lasgun didn't fit in the gap when I tried. :/ http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s36/coffeegrunt/WP_20141016_22_47_33_Pro.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s36/coffeegrunt/WP_20141016_22_47_45_Pro.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292185-4th-tarosian-regiment-devildog/page/11/#findComment-3836041 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
More Chimeras is always inevitable ;) Good progress, keep it up :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292185-4th-tarosian-regiment-devildog/page/11/#findComment-3836046 Share on other sites
CoffeeGrunt
Here she is, pretty much finished. Pulled out the stops yesterday on my day off to get it finished: http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s36/coffeegrunt/WP_20141017_19_19_33_Pro.jpghttp://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s36/coffeegrunt/WP_20141017_19_19_44_Pro.jpg Additionally, I managed to more-or-less complete certain heretical technologies. The barrels need straightening, but other than that they seem fine. WarriorFish
Good job, the lenses turned out very nicely and I like the tracks :) You've just got to keep on adding more Chimeras now... CoffeeGrunt
Thanks. There were a couple of bits I realised I missed such as the turret lens next to the Multi-Laser and the inside of the track, so I spent a moment fixing those up. I also finished those nasty Drone Mortars which are looking quite nice IMO and add some unique flavour to the regiment's look. Just a pity that Mortar teams are often so...sub-par. Anyway, I managed to get three Sentinels salvaged and ready for action. You may remember my earlier post about these guys being converted as counts-as Broadsides. Well, they received a bath in Acetone-Free Nail Varnish Remover to get rid of those old colours, and were moved to be refitted as standard Sentinels once more. These things are very fun to build and paint, I feel that more may be on their way! They just feel more...fun than Heavy Weapons Teams, and IMO the mobility they offer is an incredibly valuable asset. The process of refitting them involved exposing some areas where my terrible build work a year back melted sections of the armour. The paintjob hides this to a degree, but I decided to splash some acidic ichor or similar from fights with Tyranids. Given that my Regimental background involves them engaging a splinter fleet, I can imagine them using Sentinels as a rapid-reaction force to hunt down any scattered remnants that had hidden themselves away in waiting. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s36/coffeegrunt/temporary-115.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s36/coffeegrunt/temporary-114.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292185-4th-tarosian-regiment-devildog/page/11/#findComment-3840439 Share on other sites
Kierdale
Great work (even the heresy ;) ). The Sentinels look really good (but are you going to drill that plasma cannon barrel?). elmo
Drill....that....barrel Guardsman! :) Looking good - gives me an added incentive to get mine done now... WarriorFish
Another convert to Sentinels! :D I like the extras you put on like the helmet and that, the lenses too. You will find them a nice mobile addition to your force :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292185-4th-tarosian-regiment-devildog/page/11/#findComment-3840706 Share on other sites
CoffeeGrunt
I'll drill all the barrels some day, as soon as I get a decently priced drill for it. :P Thanks for the kind words, these were very fun to work on! I imagined them having the weapons and supplies loaded onto their Sentinels in order to survive and fight a little more if their Sentinels are incapacitated but they're still breathing. The Plasma Cannon Sentinel has that sweet folding-stock Lasgun from the old Leman Russ kit, for example. Also conjures some cool images of a bunch of parked Sentinels next to a campfire in the wilderness with veterans sharing some cooked beans. If only I had the drive to do a diorama or two! I have a Manticore I'm itching to paint after these, but I want to save it for the Big Guns Challenge. It's such a very fun and very cool model, please hurry with the challenge! Reyner
Nice Sentinels! Also: http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lferjvdY8q1qduyqso1_500.jpg I had to... CoffeeGrunt
Managed to get a good 2000pts game in last night against a friend's Eldar, which ended up being a damn close game! Here's a group shot of most of the forces in play, had two five-man Scions squad in Deep Strike, a Manticore out of frame on the left, and a whole load of Guardsmen in those Chimeras: http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s36/coffeegrunt/temporary-116.jpg Really hoping to get this army to a fully-painted status! Other than a bunch of the infantry, I just have the Manticore for Big Guns, two Hellhound chassis, and final touches on the Sentinels. Then that woodland camo Chimera will receive some paint stripping rites and that will complete my vehicles for this list! WarriorFish
I spy with my little eye... some Wraithguard! Send in the Banewolf then put your feet up and drink those Eldars tears  Good to see you getting lots of games in (I'm jealous!), you will only do better as your army slowly reaches fully painted status :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292185-4th-tarosian-regiment-devildog/page/11/#findComment-3842708 Share on other sites
scatmandoo
Good to see a close game and an eldar army not reliant on wave serpents. CoffeeGrunt
Yeah, he only had four of them. :P The Wraithguard achieved very little in that game, the Wraithknight ended up being the Banewolves' target as being able to Wound it on a 2+ with no Armour Save was incredibly valuable, (effectively an S10 AP3 hit.) I didn't have enough anti-light armour or anti-tank fire to take one the Serpents and Wraiths, though. A trio of Autocannon teams with Fire On My Target would be ideal for countering those 3+ Jinking Xenos! CoffeeGrunt
So I cracked and prematurely started painting the Manticore - don't worry, there's still a Ryza Executioner sitting, waiting on a paintjob! :P http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s36/coffeegrunt/temporary-117.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s36/coffeegrunt/temporary-118.jpg Hoping to have it completed in time for a 2K game against 'Nids on Saturday, but I may struggle to get it done! CoffeeGrunt
Great stuff, loving all the tanks! Why thank you, so am I! I will imagine them scurrying for cover as my Plasma Veterans melt their Synapse Creatures into piles of burning goo as their creatures scatter. Their great beasts falling to the mighty firepower of the Guard as a torrential rain of shrapnel scythes through their ranks, the bright red beams of the lasguns lighting their swarms up in numbers uncountable. CoffeeGrunt
The regiment once again rolled to war this weekend, against both Nids and the new Dark Eldar. Sadly I only got shots of the Nids game, as we were a little pressed for time in the Dark Eldar one. Here's a shot of my Conscript blob bravely engaging an emergent Mawloc: http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s36/coffeegrunt/temporary-119.jpg Those damn Flyrants really caused a mess of my forces, may consider bringing Vulture Gunships next time to deal with them. Here's the assembled army before the game, complete with Army List for those interested. Not the best list, but it was damn fun to field so many Conscripts and still possess a formidable armoured core! http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s36/coffeegrunt/temporary-120.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292185-4th-tarosian-regiment-devildog/page/11/#findComment-3851050 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
You've just got to paint them now... Your army is coming along very well at a great pace, the sort of dedication we approve of I've done my first desert scheme painting today and I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure I'd want to paint this many in it!
