@ Cheexsta: Excellent work, mate! Love the tusks you added to the Zhufor helmet -- that's just such a big improvement! Your daemons are absolutely ace, but still: You can't just rile us up with an excellent Termie lord like that and then slip back into the shadows. More please!

Sure I can :tongue.:

Thanks for the comments! I haven't painted much else for my WE recently, so there's sadly very little for me to show at the moment :sad.:

Dude - that is one fricking sweet termie. Also - I really like your red. Could you give us the recipe? I suck at painting reds and I really should start painting my eight legged lord of skulls...

Cheers b'Raass! I'm really happy with how he turned out - even better is that his arms are magnetised, so I can swap out his weapons if need be. All that needs doing now is his damned base...

As for the red, it's simply Khorne Red mixed with black. It's about a 2:1 or 3:1 mix of red/black, to get a really dark, scab-red tone. This is then highlighted with Khorne Red, Wazdakka Red, Evil Sunz Scarlet, and finally Screaming Skull on the corners. Everything is then toned back with an equal mix of Bloodletter and Agrax Earthshade.

Man, those Tyberos The Red Wake's arms sure are popular :tongue.:

I fell in love with them as soon as I saw the model! And I feel like it's a perfect way to represent a Lightning Claw and Chain Fist weapon combo :smile.:

A little thing that I hadn't noticed before, Cheexsta, maybe remove the little shark fins on the top of the Lightning Claws themselves? Its a very tiny quandary and may not mean jack to you but I thought I'd point it out in the event it did :P

And yes, those weapons are everything I hoped for in a Chainfist and Lightning Claws.

...We need more Variants.

The Void Reavers - Commanded by Lord Barraka the white daemon (Usiel) - Post Heresy

“I am Barraka, my rage is absolute. By Khorne's blessing I have seen past it and become one with it. I move above the fury within, when battle comes I fall into it, become drenched in it. When I step from the black pool and behold the world around me; all is ruin, my body quivers with the memory of violence and my face is painted with blood. Khorne's touch is upon my flesh, I am transformed into the daemonic, and with his gifts I shall rend the galaxy asunder.

I command the strike cruiser 'Void Reaver' and the men under me are my Void Reavers, but they are World Eaters all. The sons of Angron follow me on my indomitable path, as I have promised them oceans of blood and our dwellings lined with skulls. I have not lied to my brothers.

The worlds that I crush and bleed for all they have are my trophies, they dangle dead and lifeless in the stars eternal tribute to the god of slaughter. The shattered whelps that crawl from my wrath whisper my name to those who were too late to save them; 'Barraka the white daemon'.

The blood and the fury must flow.”

[ I'm Usiel, I used to post loyalist filth here years ago, I have since found the eightfold path and all the joys of bring it to life in this hobby. If I had it my way I would change my B&C name to Barraka (maybe I can still do that? I'll have to ask a mod). I actually collect a bit of everything, but Space Marines have been at the bottom of the list for a long time now, they're just a bit dull. Except Space Sharks, but we all know they're really Night Lor- *BLAM* +++Transmission Ends+++  ]

Greetings Usiel!

Your Void Reavers stand proud on the hot sands. Welcome to the pack, brother.

(PS - Immediate bonus points for being the only one besides me who subscribes to the Carcharadons as loyalist Night Lords theory :happy.:

**EDIT** Feel free to provide a link to your WiP/Showcase if you would like it added to the roster.

Also, if you're still looking to change your screen name, the best folks to contact are those of the Administratum. Brother Tyler or Kurgan the Lurker would be happy to assist, I'm sure.

Enjoy your stay, and let us know if you have any other questions! We're normally a pretty helpful (if homicidal) bunch ^_^

Yes, I've already contacted the Kurgan and crew, they are getting back to me on changing my screen name to Barraka. And that being said if the World Eater badges are still being made I'd much prefer mine to read Barraka rather than Usiel.

And I know right!?! How could they not be loyalist Night Lords geneseed stock, everything about them scre- *BLAM*

Thanks to you too, Kraut. I think this community is exactly what my motivation needed to keep me hungry to complete this army, as much as any army is ever done

And yes, here is my log to add to the roster: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298849-path-of-blood-blight-world-eaters-nurglith-cult/

Yep yep, happy to help.

Even if you are still stuck in the sad, desolate future of the post heresy :happy.:

Flint, PUH-LEASE! Don't you people have enough Heresy era threads by now? Post-heresy period World Eaters seriously need some love, and I, for one, am happy with every Brother- (or Sister-) Slaughterer who chooses this glorious age!

But my Berserker-Brother, the post-heresy WE has had the last 20 years to build up their strength. pre-heresy WE, by comparison, are still in our infancy. :P

Khorne loves all of his sons and daughters as long as we continue to spill blood and collect skulls in his name.

Oh, don't get me wrong: I meant no disrespect to the (Pre-) Heresy projects on this board -- there are so many amazing army threads, and I wouldn't want to miss any of that.  That said, it can get a little overwhelming at times, with what feels like three or four heresy threads for every 40k one. Again, if that's what people want, that's great.

But I can only repeat myself: I'm happy with every 40k World Eaters army I see (let's face it: Really amazing post heresy WE armies certainly aren't a dime a dozen).

Hey! I did my contribution to the post-heresy World Eaters.

Remember your roots, young-in :p

30k has all the fun toys. Predator squadrons, legit devastator squads, drop pods for everyone... And ya know, our father in more than just name and legend. ^_~

But it also has more and more cooky cutter army projects, because many people just keep throwing FW models at the army until it becomes awesome.

It goes without saying that this doesn't refer to any of the people on this thread (or in the WIP section, for that matter). But those kind of armies exist -- and where World Eaters are concerned, they are far less numerous in the 40k era today: Due to the almost 20 years old 'zerker kit, the people actually doing 40k World Eaters need to be rather crafty and creative to find solutions that look good ;)

But seriously, I don't want to be railroaded into lobbying for one era over the other: As long as the armies are awesome, we all win. And I could count off several wonderful Heresy armies off the top of my head. Let Barraka focus on his 40k 'Eaters, is all I'm saying -- we need every cool 40k World Eaters army we can get.

Sorry for causing such a stir... o_O

We also give EVERYONE chainaxes (if they can take a chainsword...).

As Flint said, we have Angron but can take Khârn too and have a paradox since both have Gorechild :p

...Red Butchers. Non "ehh" Contemptors, no limits on Heresy era relics - Oh! You want 2 Sicarians and 3 Predator Executionners (all for 3 HS slots, mind you)?! Sure!

and on and on and on...blah blah blah........

...Whatever just play what you want/enjoy. At least we can see the blood of our enemies on our armor!

No worries, buddy. I just like giving you a good natured hard time. See: K-Sci & K-Tarts

I'm always loud about the awesome that is 30k. You should see me in the Night Lords thread.

Oh... And Im totally on the HH mod squad now... ^_^

If I were to do a 30k legion; I'm afraid the rather striking Sons of Horus, sea green/black, scheme takes my fancy. Not to mention my fondness for the Lunar Wolves. But I have many 40k projects ahead of me that I'm committed to and for half the price of that endeavour. :)

I am considering using some of the World Eater specific 30k kits to blend into my 40k Eaters, like the Red Butchers.

The Sons of Horus Legion-specific models are gorgeous, not to mention that of the Main Man himself. I can see why you are tempted. Hell, I'm myself debating between the XVI and XIII Legions for my next project when the 77th Battle Company is fully built and painted. Conquest is supposed to contain a small supplement for the Sons of Horus and Death Guard - let's see what it brings!

I have one complaint about Forge World - their kits are rather monotonous in poses/customization. I have 30 tactical marines in Mark IV armor and there is only so much I can do with tweaking the poses before it all gets kind of stale.

But I guess we can't have everything. :(

When all is said and done, the really cool thing is that you always get to mix and match the bitz and parts you like best, regardless of era or legion. This might not hold true for vehicles, seeing how most of the interesting HH vehicles don't have rules in 40k, but it's very much the case for infantry:

- Rampagers and Red Butchers look just as good in red and bronze (or, arguably, even better, at least the latter)

- Skullcrushers are welcome conversion fodder, both for 30k and 40k World Eaters

- there are countless legion specific bitz that work great on World Eaters models: The Sons of Hours Reaver bitz come to mind, but the Atramentar also make for excellent WE Terminators. The list goes on and on.

In the end, it's really all about creating your own army that represents your own take on the legion you love -- I think we can all agree on that. If I have one true gripe with HH, it's more the fact that it sometimes feels like the focus on FW hurts both hobbyists' creativity as well as the FW design team itself: All of their stuff used to be pretty much perfect all the time, but now that they need to crank out huge amounts of stuff at a higher rate, the amount of lacklustre kits has definitely grown. And on the hobbyist side, for every 1000heathens, poom or, yes, Flint, there seems to be at least one guy (or girl) who's content enough to just throw together a cookie cutter army made from expensive Forgeworld crack.

When it comes to me personally, I'll always be a fan of plastic as a medium, first and foremost, although I will use the odd resin part. But while I am really interested in exploring the 30k exploits of the 4th assault company and its captain from a narrative side, I have next to zero interest in modeling and painting a 30k army -- but it takes all sorts to make a world, I suppose

I think I fall into the Category of Cookie Cutter FW Crackhead. I just cant bring myself to hack up the models :x

...Army list wise I try and go for equal measures of Fluffy silliness (see 3 spartans with 22 marines each + CCW) and Viable Power Gaming (my Pride of the Legion IF for a HH Campaign)

I try to compensate for the fear of conversion with Kitbashing and imaginative posing (if the model supports/facilitates/helps it).

Yeah... I too fell into the cookie cutter archetype. My 77th Battle Company represents my first foray into tabletop wargaming. Before my first tactical marine, I had NEVER painted any kind of miniature outside of 1:350 model warships.

I see now that when I planned my purchasing schedule from FW (I have to do this because I'm in the US), I didn't have the foresight to buy things in such a way that I could mix and match to generate some diversity. This is a shame, but it's done now. I met my basic goal of putting together a WE force (standing at 3100 points now, soon to be 3500 points) that looks great (if a little cookie cutter) and will be competitive on the tabletop.

As for the future, I might end up building my WEs, I might end up doing the SoH instead, or I might end up a loyalist and paint UMs. The lessons I learned along the way while I created the 77th will definitely help then. Besides, I now have a pretty good stash of FW bitz leftover from the 77th. Those definitely will come in handy when giving some diversity to my next army. :)

Brothers, and sisters, I am making my glorious return to the XIIth. The 21st Company is being reformed. From now on, they will be known as the Mors Indecepta.
