The IoE is rather disappointing, upsets the Apothecary counts as plan too (which is a really cool idea :sad.: ). It's hard to get excited about a rule that just makes another unexciting rule a bit better, so I'm hoping for some improvements when we get a codex proper.

Thanks to the point changes my 500pt list is further away than before but that's only a short term negative  I'll be loading up on Terminators once that's done, and working on my Daemonette additions so I'll be very interested to see how the early 8th games go for the scions of excess

I wish the IoE gave the chance of additional attacks vs anyone (or even vs Eldar would have been more flavourful).

As someone pointed out : IoE and IoV should be the other way around.

Icon of vengeance for getting more hits on Imperium units.

Icon of Excess because Slaanesh units dont run away pain and death, they run to it !

Trully hope this and Doom siren are revise with the Chaos codex (but we can keep the new Sonic blaster, blastmaster and Music of the Apocalyspe rules !).

Let's hope so, the loss of the Legion rules has taken some of the shine off of 8th for me.

Hopefully we'll be getting them back sooner rather than later.

I agree and it's rumored Traitor Legions will work its way back around. I could definitely build my former army and use it in 8th edition but it feels like it has lost some pizzazz.

I am really going to miss dropping a small pie plate from the blastmaster on a unit or small vehicle and making them vanish...

I hear you brother.

While I appreciate how removing templates helps to speed up game play, I feel the randomness is a little too variable. I think the Blastmaster would be better served as D3+1. I still don't understand why the Doomsiren is only D3 when a flamer is D6 (which again feels too variable to me).

But this is just me speculating, once I have a few games under my belt, I may feel differently........maybe

Guys we got some clarifcations for our Noise Marines (and other Slaaneshi stuff) in the updated FAQ on the Community website:

 - Noise Marines can't use their Music of the Apocalypse when they flee the battlefied, only when they are slain.

 - Noise Marines can shoot at 'any viable target' when using Music of the Apocalypse (I wish they were more specific there lol)

 - If several Noise Marines are slain in the same attack each one can throw a grenade using Music of the Apocalypse (guess we have real suicide bomber now lol)

 - If they want to shoot a unit that's within 1" with Music of the Apocalypse, they'd have to use a Pistol.

 - Death of the False Emperor definitely works with Music of the Apocalypse

Kinda strange. My bet is between the point 2 and 4 we cannot use blastmaster or sonic blaster when killed in melee.

Same, i would love to put a blastmaster in some loyalist ass and pull the trigger.

What? Of course we can. We just can't use the Blastmaster or Sonic Blaster to shoot at the unit we are in melee with because that's only allowed with pistols.

And that's the point : An unit within 1" of an ennemy unit can only attack this unit at the shooting phase. And only with pistol.

So, one may argue when a Noise Marine die within 1" of an ennemy unit that the only "viable" target is the ennemy at 1" and therefore he can only shoot it with pistol.

This is not how it reads. Please don't make up your own wording and read the actual FAQ instead. It doesn't prevent you from shoot at a different unit that's in range, in line of sight and not engaged in combat (aka a viable target). It just limits you to use pistols when using MotA against a unit you're within 1" of.

By the FAQ's wording you can shoot units you are not within 1" of; while  within 1" of another unit. So yes you can shoot out of melee and hit an entirely different unit.

Note that DTTFE only generates a single additional "hit roll" for each 6 to hit rolled for MOTA.  Not an additional shooting with a Sonic Blaster which would've resulted in 3 additional shots.

Thoughts?

Mine are, while Flawless Perfection sounds nice, its just the Daemonic Quicksilver rule from out of the Index and it never comes up in my games. Either I'm the one doing the charging, or when I get charged its only by 1 unit, so Quicksilver/FP never triggers (player whose turn it is picks first unit to swing). It has yet to even register in my games so its hardly the big deal the article is making it out to be.

I am excited to have 5+ Feel no Pain back, even if it is only via a psychic power which will limit how often it kicks in even before I try for those 5+s. Will be interesting to see what the other powers are it is up against, though.

Endless Cacophony sounds incredible. Will usually be possible to do it 3 times in a game if you don't spend your CPs on rerolls. Deepstrike in 10 Terminators with combi-plasmas and shoot 40 plasma shots, anyone????

Yea but it mean the already superior NOISE HELLBRUTE is even more superior.

Let's wait about the codex to see those Hellforged engine. Let's hope for CT3+ or machine spirit equivalent. I'm really want the Defiler to be worth it as i got a Debaser conversion project.

There's a fair bit of combat for my CSM, against the likes of BT and GK for example so getting to slap them around before they can do anything will be good. That's the nature of a combat bonus unfortunately as its usefulness is directly related to how much combat there will be! I like the 5+ FNP power (I timed my Sorcerers just right it seems), not sure if that should give me hope or not for the IoE.

A second shooting round for a unit could make a real difference in the right place, especially if you build a unit with lots of guns to take full advantage ;)

Just keep in mind everyone that even with the always striking first trait, the first unit the opponent charged with will still strike first because the player whose turn it is chooses first when alternating units. And always striking first doesn't turn our units into combat monsters, it just gives us an edge against equal units. So if we get charged by a dedicated melee unit like Berzerkers or such our charged unit will still get destroyed.

Yea but FAQ said if a Khorn Berzeker unit charge, they get their two activation before ennemy can react (expect with the use of the counter offensive stratagem).

EC vs Berzerker is huge. Yea if they charge they get to first strike. But you can attack between first and second activation.

Very specific, but i expect more of this "second activation" with stratagem or other on assault army (space wolfe, tyranids etc..)

I can't find anything about Berzerker in the latest FAQ.

But yes we can ofcourse strike after their first strike because since we both strike first it just goes the normal way of alternative activations.

Unless they get something that helps them charge tho I just gonna push a Daemon Prince with talons into the unit of Berzerker and rip them apart with the EC Stratagem you translated lol

Not the last one, but basically they said a unit charged by berzeker cant attack between the two activations (unless use of a counter attack stratagem or other abilities).

Remember i coudnt translate all the words. They may be a "infantery" i coudnt read for exemple. Not 100% sure we can activate this stratagem on Daemon prince (but i clearly hope so).

How improbable would it be to have an non dribbly EC warband?

Kinda like Sigvald the Magnificent?

So basically 30k EC? Well...you could either explain it with the typical time travel warp shenanigans....or just say that your warband has an excessive amount of focus on being fabulous which gets further improved by Slaanesh. :D
