As I read the previous post on this tread, I came across things about the sonic dreadnoughts and they sound amazing! I was wondering about their basic point cost as I wasn't able to find it anywhere and would like to convert one off my hellbrutes.

It's just the Helbrute cost. The FW FAQ/Errata gave the regular Helbrute the option to take two Blastmaster instead of the Multimelta and the option to take a Doom Siren. ;)

Found something I thought was worth bringing up here.

Sonic dreadnought with two blastmasters and a missile launcher (137 points) use it with the stratagem that makes it fire twice and you get 4d3 s8 -2 D3dmg and 2 s8 -2 D6dmg

This is much cheaper in both command points and points compared to using ML havocs or BM noise marines and endless cacophony, haven't tried it yet but I think it gets pretty much the same results if not better for cheaper

Except that you can't use the good Stratagem on a Helbrute. The one for the Helbrute restricts it to having to shoot at the nearest visible enemy unit and requires it to not having moved that turn unfortunately.

I didn't realise it had to be the closest enemy unit. Still sonic dreads look great, can't wait to give them a try

It is, but (1) FW, and for those who don't care about that, it can't be coupled with VotLW... which on 8 fellers with 3 shots each is nothing to shake a stick at. (Noise marines)

Plus blastmasters with VotLW wound most vehicles on 2s.

Really VotLW is just about the best thing ever. ;)

Obviously we are all fans of Noise Marines with Sonic Blasters/ Blast Masters, but what is everyone's thoughts Noise marines armed with bp/ CCW?

I don't see the point of those to be honest.

A Boltpistol/CCW Noise Marine has to get into melee to get 4 S4 AP0 attacks (pistol included). One of those doesn't even ignore cover.

A Sonic Blaster Noise Marine has 3 S4 AP0 shots at 24" and still 2 S4 AP0 attacks in melee. Range + more S4 hits = better. If you want melee infantry just take Possessed or Terminators for Emperor's Children.

Plus the double shoot stratagem on Noise Marines = sick amount of anti horde shooting. ;)

Definitely agree with sfPanzer on that. Noise marines need to have sonic weaponry in their hands. Even in the previous editions I believed this. First off those guns are great and probably why we are all here in the first place. Aside from the rock'n'roll life style of an Emperor's Children Legionary. Secondly, NM aren't noteworthy close combat fighters. They can hold their own but they aren't going to tear through their enemies like a chainaxe in a berzerker's hand. They're more sophisticated than that.

On a side note I got in a good game yesterday with my buddy. Got a chance to see the NM in action and although I miss the old days of their pie-plates of death I am quite happy with the new iteration. Especially that Music of the Apocalypse (Got killed? Yeah, pop off some noise as you go...). Noise marines could always pump out a ton of shots but now you can do it on the the move? Yeah, I will take that over the old barrage 2/3 rule or whatever they had. However, now I am tortured with the thought of what could we get whenever Emperor's Children get a release. Looking at the Death Guard's craziness has my imagination running wild.

I like them because they're decent in close combat and relatively cheap, 15 points per model for 3 attacks s4 and they can each throw a grenade when they die, even in close combat (you can't throw grenades at the units you're in close combat with but it's still nice for killing nearby units) 150 points for 10 of these means 30 attacks and 10 grenades (frag or krak depending on what you're dealing with) also if you're playing emperor's children they hit first most of the time. Give the champion a plasma pistol, he can fire it overcharged when he dies with no risk because he's already dead.

It's a good cheap CC unit imo

How do they get three? A NM has A2 and a NM Champ has A3?

Curious as I am still getting used to 8th.

Chainsword is one extra attack, actually you could say they get 4 because of the bolt pistol shot in close combat in the shooting phase

And the champion having 3, gives him 4 attacks with chain sword, but you could also put a power axe on him to have 3 s5 ap-2 attacks which is always nice.

Ahhh, got it. I honestly would rather stick with the shooting goodness.

I have been enjoying my Terminators coming in, softening up their target with comb-plasma, and then charging in for some power fisting PUNCHING for my melee. If my NM get stuck in they have just been really good to me by putting up a good fight an not dying like crazy.

I'm playing against death guard this weekend and was wondering how you guys deal with mass of bloat drones and plague marines?

I've been doing ok against the bloat drones, but keep getting wrecked by plague marines.

Do you guys know if I can include Fabius bile in an EC detachment and still get the legion trait?

I mean he was an EC apothecary before the heresy and all, but he has no legion key word on his data sheet.

Fabius Bile and Cypher benefit from the Shadowy Allies rule. They can be included in any detachment without preventing other units in that detachment from gaining a legion trait. p 157 of the CSM Codex.

Fellow EC player : if you want some daemonic boobs in your army check Creature caster. They just release another Slaanesh daemon (and atm is the only company i know -GW inclued- to show some love to Slaanesh..)

You mean the Lady of Depravity (NSFW warning: model breasts)? One for Kier I think along with a few others, a large Medusa should make quite the impact on the table. I like the choice of wings, though I'd rather none at all for this particular model.

Yes, this one. I'm wondering what model it could remplace in an EC/Slaanesh Daemon army. There is already a great Keaper of secret (not really sexy but very fluff and WYSIWYG).

I couldnt resist getting one. Maybee with some conversion it could turn in a great Slaanesh Heldrake ?

Yeah I'd probably leave the wings aside and fill the spots with greenstuff. ^^

You dont have too, it can be build without the wing (with two other blade instead).

Either Keeper of Secrets or Daemon Prince obviously.

Yeah but I don't like the blades either. ;)

Do any of you guys know of a place where they sell alternative models for deamonetes? I'm thinking about including a few in my lists but don't really like the GW plastic ones and can't find any metal ones that aren't over priced.
