3000 point Imperial Fist

So I'm HIGHLY debating of getting some Imperial Fists to build up while I'm awaiting my blood angels to come around. It's either them or Death Guard, but I feel better with Imperial Fists so when Terra campaigns come around I have an apocalypse force. But here goes the run down:

HQ:

Sigismund

Legion Centurion

-Master of Signal

-Artificer Armor

-Refractor Field

Troops:

2 x20 Legion Breacher Siege Squad

-Artificer Armor

-Power Weapon

-Legion Vexilla

-Nuncio Vox

x9 Templar Brethren

-5 Combat Shields

-Melta Bombs

-Archaeotech Pistol

-Solarite Power Gauntlet

Heavy Support:

x6 Legion Heavy Support Squad

-Lascannons

-Artificer Armor

-Augury Scanner

x2 Legion Medusa

Legion Caestus Assault Ram

Lord of War:

Legion Fell Glaive

-Ceramite Armor

So this is where I'm in debate about. I can drop the Glaive, Templar Brethren and Ram and add in Phalanx Warder Squad with a Spartan, Go with a blade instead but I'm not too sure. Anyone on here have a good direction to take this?

Lets give this a go:

Templars : I assume they're with sigismund in the Assault Ram? You think about dropping 1 templar and getting a Primus Medicae and Attaching him to the squad to give them FNP as well as another Solarite Power Gauntlet?

Breachers : Sadly a disappointing unit, though T5 BS 5 with the RoW makes them kinda better... They're still horribly overcosted for what they do : being slightly tougher Tac Squads. You might be better off with 2x20 Tac blobs with Apothecaries.

Depending on points saved by switching out breachers (if you do it) consider getting Contemptor- Mortis dreads with 2TLLC's or Rapier Batteries with either LasDestroyers or Graviton Cannons.

Heavy Support Squads : While they do get tank hunter, at this points level, they're rather fragile unit to base a good chunk of your anti armor on. Consider Getting a Sicarian or Sicarian venator, maybe both or 2 venators.

Phalanx Warders are in a weird place. They're Breachers with more special weapons choices but still overcosted for what they bring. All in all, brachers truly shine in Zone Mortalis since they wont be getting annihilated by heavy Armor.

Templars vs Phalanx warders : templars are just better. While they don't shoot, if you get them into assault they're more likely to reliably kill units. So consider dropping the Ram and getting them a Spartan to ride around in or if you want to save points, a Land Raider Phobos. As long as they're in a tough assault vehicle, they're likely to do their job.

Sigismund with Templars : Since Sigismund will want to gun it for the enemy Warlord, who might be in Terminator armor and surrounded by Terminators, think about getting a Terminator squad with Vigil Pattern Storm shields and Teleporter (and giving the templars a Nuncio-vox) so that if thats the case, they can no-scatter TP in and take care of Terminators, something which Templars will likely struggle against.

Well, really, thats All I've got. If your interested, I've also come up with an IF 3k list, maybe take a look at it, might give you a better sense of direction of where you want to (or not) bring your list. Also, if your dead set on Breachers, think about using Polux instead of Sigismund and dropping the Templar squads. You'll be saving a lot of points that way.

Agree with Slipstream in regards to the Phalanx, they just dont seem to work right now, the bonuses you are paying for dont workin conjunction with each other. I still enjoy fielding the Breachers though, min 15 man squad though (gives you three special), they are pretty resilient and versatile with the special weapons and are great for holding a section behind a barricade or fortification (get stubborn).

I am still debating the need/value of Combat Shields on Templar Brethren, while only 5 pts, it adds up and bare with me; With the Brethren having 2+ armour already, the only threats to their armour save in CC is AP2 weaponary, of that weaponary being used by Power Armour units, your looking at Axes and Fists, both of which will be swinging after your Power Swords and so you should clean them up. IF you are against 2+ armour, you are in trouble, as the Brethren will struggle, even with Combat Shields it will just draw it out a little longer. Now if they had been regular 3+ then I think the Combat Shields would be must have, but as it is, I dont think they will be worth it (apart from the rule of cool!).

Well I do dislike the high cost value of the Breachers, I need them for the RoW. As for the Ram, I wanted to use it to get Sigismund into the fray as fast as possible without having to worry about chasing Land Raiders around with a Land Raider, hahah. I see what you mean by the Heavy support squad for sure. I'm going to swap some stuff around to see what I can re-work.

Thing is, you don't HAVE to take the RoW. And if you take Sigismund (who is First Captain of the First Company) I think a list with him would be better suited to Pride of the Legion, no?

Stone Gauntlet, I think, works better with either Dorn or Alexis Polux since they put and emphasis on breachers and resiliency. But that might just be me.

Ahhhh, you're taking Stone Gauntlet, fair enough then.

Well keep in mind the restrictions of no deep strike no matter what, so that Ram will never be able to Deep Strike.

Another thing to consider, is instead of Sigismund, have a think about taking Alexis Polux, he is strangely well suited for the Rites of War, even though you lose one of his buffs (which allows a Deep Strike). He comes standard with a Shield, so he can jump in either a squad of the Breachers or join Terminators with Storm Shields and still benefit from the Toughness buff.

His ability to swing the power fist at Initiative is a HUGE boon for either squad you put him in; giving the Breachers some serious CC ability or the Terminators some AP2 @ Initiative capability so they can hit other Terminators units and carve them apart.

I have had this same thought about the Templar, the deciding factor for me was giving them a Primus Medicae instead with another solarite gauntlet as Slipstream suggests.

Okay. So I reworked the list. Still light on infantry but still can pack a mean punch.

Hq:

Sigismund

Primus medicae, artificer armor, solarite gauntlet, refractor field

Elites:

X2 apothecaries. Aug scanner. Artificer armor.

X2 graviton rapier

Troops:

X15 tactical sgt with artificer armor. Power weapon. Vox and vex.

X15 breachers. Vox and vex. Sgt artificer armor and power weapon. 1 lascutter

X8 temple all with combat shields. Sgt with solarite gauntlet. Arch pistol.

Dedicated transport Phobos pattern land raider. Ceramite. Extra armor. Dozer blade.

Heavy support

Legion medusa

Legion medusa

Sicarian venator

Lord of war

Glaive legion tank

With this I should be able to pop most heavy armor while it advances. Medusas to take care of infantry and terminator blobs. Thoughts?

Try and shave some points and take advantage of the Breachers ability to take special weapons, you are paying a premium to take them, utlise them to their fullest extent. Not a fan of Lascutters but some people like them, I would personally throw Melta's on them and possibly even drop the Power Weapon from the Serg, he cant get a bonus because of his shield and the squad is not geared toward Close Combat, focus on shooting and defense.

you can probably pick up some points by dropping some Combat Shields from the Templar Brethren, definitely keep one on the Serg, and maybe another three and use them to tank the AP2 wounds coming in. Most of the those attacks will be coming from Terminators with Power fists or suchlike, because any significant Character will be in a Challenge with Sigi, and most Power Armour models with axes will be dead from the I4 onslaught of the Brethren.
