Holy cow. I never played space hulk so I never realized just how small the board is. I'm surprised you can fit some of those side by side. What kind of ship are you running Armond? tongue.png

LOL, ya, we decided three wide was the widest, but it made for a heck of a tense time! We are talking about creating a loading bay area and whatnot to expand the possibility of larger battles! Also hull battles!

Iron Warriors Turn 3:

Movement of Dread and Tacticals, destroyed a door to allow access to an objective. Also, his Dread shot(no damage done) and then assaulted into my Contemptor.

The close combat battle saw my Contemptor do two additional hull points worth of damage, blowing that bad boy up:

Night Lords Turn 3:

I moved the Contemptor and the Tacticals towards separate directions to engage enemy units. I shot, felling 1 Vet and then the tactical was able to charge in and the Iron Warriors passed the test to conduct reactionary fire, killing 1 guy in return.

Close combat saw a challenge where heathen's Centurion saw my Sergeant die(he only got 1 wound thru though) and the IWs killing 3 more members of my Tactical(thank goodness for Apothecaries). The NLs killed 4 Vets! Of course we had additional CCWs and we charged. I totally forgot that since I outnumbered him I should have received a +1 to wound... It would have helped I think. Aftermath so far:

Iron Warriors Turn 4:

Shoot I forgot to get a pic of his movement, but he got into that center room, destroyed another objective! No chain reaction though. He also moved his tacticals around the lower hallway to allow for two paths for engaging my Dread.a

Back into Close Combat between Vet Squad and the NL Tactical. Both sides struck down three marines, I have a feeling this is going to get pretty nasty really quick, especially since I am running out of bodies. That +1 to wound was the only thing keeping the NLs from being soundly beaten so quickly.

Night Lords Turn 4:

This pic shows after my movement, but it also shows the state of combat at the end of the IWs turn 4

The close combat earlier saw no deaths. Interesting.

Iron Warrior Turn 5:

The dread moved towards the door to assault it(and he did to destroy it to allow for a charge in the next turn), and the tactical squad from the lower hallway advanced towards the Contemptor, seeking to engage in CC and hopefully destroy it with a well placed meltabomb.

Close Combat saw the Contemptor smash down two of his attackers while the Tactical and Vet CC from earlier saw each of us down to the few remaining models!

About this time, heathens deemed his dice as trying to kill his guys for him, and so retired these:

Iron Warriors Turn 5:

Dread charges in to try and lend a hand in killing the Contemptor. No dead Contemptor, but a hull point lost. I also dealt a single hull point of damage to the IW dread, penetrated and got a shaken result(darn).

Night Lords Turn 5:

Chaaaaarge!!! Terror Squad decides to try to engage the Vet squad to help out the floundering tactical squad, I make my distances, and pile in for the battle!

10689754_10154607439345249_4384953350656

Close Combat see that I lose my Vexilla(final member) of the Tactical and the two Dreads swat at eachother. The Contemptor destroys the IW Dread, but then while focused on his fellow entombed warrior, a sneaky Sergeant is able to climb and plant a meltabomb, delivering the final blow and demolishing the Contemptor!

At that point, the end of the game had come, the roll to continue had failed. Previously it had passed. So this is the result:

8:5

Iron Warriors to Night Lords

His dead pile and his captured objectives. Don't forget he got First Blood and Slay the Warlord!

My dead pile and saved objectives

More thoughts to come later and maybe some type of fluffy story to make the next engagement a possibility!

Hope you enjoyed! And a hearty thanks to heathens and his family for allowing me to spend some time with them! The BLTs were delicious, you family is awesome! Cannot wait for the next time. Oh and a great bitz exchange was had afterwards, I tell you what! This heathens guy is in all reality, no heathen! msn-wink.gif

Armond you should totally paint your centurion's gauntlets red for going off and being a maverick lol

hahaha, I may just do that, his right hand. His left is painted as a skeletal hand, and I am quite fond of how I did it! msn-wink.gif Enjoy the rest of the report! Maybe next time we could do an in progress to make it more detailed, like on a laptop. Then just upload pics once we get ready to post it to the B&C! maybe...

Hmm. Idea on special rules for hull battles, special roll for whether or not the power armor becomes void breached? Like whenever a successful To Wound roll occurs, roll a second dice to see if the armor seals or if the Marine inside becomes exposed to the void?

We tried, and probably will for the first few battles, keep it relatively simple in regards to rules.  Assumption was that the armor is sealed anyway.  The only time I could see the armor not being sealed is if they are helmetless, wouldn't the suits be sealed anyway otherwise?  I have no idea about this.  But an interesting add-on for later on!

That's why I was thinking it should be done after the To Wound Roll. Or I guess after the armor save, to show that the armor has been breached(hence the wound being caused) and either it will re-seal, or it won't. Just a random brain thought on my part.

Loyal to the Imperium, not the Tyrant-Emperor.

And Blood in the Void games are a lot of fun, I can't wait for another game against Armond.

Maybe next time, your Champion might not get shot in the back, Armond.....  :P

One Traitor vessel lost with all hands, a different traitor contingent taking severe losses? All without a single expenditure of Imperial resources or loss of loyalist life?

Seems like a glorious victory for the tyrant-emperor to me.

Their name. The Eighth Legion are traitors. Why waste time trying to locate and discern potential loyalties among them? Kill them all. If they are truly loyal to the Emperor, they will give their lives in that pursuit.

. . . Which might be exactly what they did. :)

Aye, we did give lives, but discerning traitor from loyalist would probably serve a purpose for the Imperium... Garro...

Who said Armond's Night Lords were traitors? msn-wink.gif

Still in the works, who knows though ;)

Not every day I get to say I killed a Night Lord Frigate.... tongue.png

Hey hey now! You didn't knock out all the objectives! I say you crippled it, and then withdrew, your goal to destroy the ship incomplete. However, you did cause sever damage to several main systems and prevented any further action within the system. I must dock, repair, and pursue your forces through the dark of the void and deliver vengeance upon your forces. Revenge will be mine!!!

I hate that, that soured me so much! But things like that happen, he was just making his way to defend the frigate, and bam, some mean old Iron Warriors crash their boarding pods into the hull of the ship, knocking me senseless. He stands up, totally disoriented, and then bam BAM BAM! Shot in the back! I hadn't even turned to face them yet! That whole action seems backwards! I should be the one shooting people in the back!

So my mentality on the next battle, if decently soon in occurring, it would be similar points level.  Maybe 250-500 points more?  Just a thought, only because I want to be kind of incremental in increase, that way we can slowly incorporate more detailed rules as we become more comfortable with the rules.  That is my biggest concern, learning the rules.  Maybe we can work a surface battle before our next ship board action?

OHHH!! /raises hand : Have the crippled frigate crash land on an Iron Warriors Garrison World?
