@struman ...If I said..no..? unsure.png wacko.png

Then you're a man after my own heart... While my pile of resin is nothing like as big as yours, I've got a hell of a lot of yellow to paint with nothing more than my old Citadel brushes and my wits, so I completely empathize with you. Good luck mate! I look forward to the Spartan...

Just out of interest, how did you go with the tracks? Mine are a nightmare!

They look fine, once you get some of the details in you will be happier - break up the green with some black trims or shoulder pads. Some gold or silver for the armour studs and stuff like that.

@fire golem - EXACTLY what he said. Remember that the armour itself isn't the detail... You've got a whole load of metallics to go on yet, and that'll help to smooth out some of your so-called 'mess'. tongue.png

If you're still not happy after that, you could use a fine detail brush to paint on some really thin layers of Sybarite or Kabalite Green over the green sections of armour to smooth it out. Just a thought.

Also, something that's really worked for me is drybrushing up through layers rather than painting them. That's how I did the Imperial Fist on the base of my WE Praetor. Black undercoat, drybrush boltgun metal , then drybrush Ironbreaker, then dryrbrush Runefang Steel, then drybrush white, then glaze/wash/what have you, then battle damage/wear and tear. You could probably do something similar with the grey which may speed you up? Just food for thought.

Hope that helps!

They look very nice Golem! Keep it up! As they other said, the details makes the models awesome, not the armour per se. But, maybe you should try to use many thin layers of wash instead of one thick, but strumanchu may know more about that painting method msn-wink.gif

for the eyes, gw had done a good guide for them, haven't tried it yet, but you may try it out smile.png

(just skip until he does the eyes)

I'll definitely do thinner washes with the next ones. I just put it it on like that because I put it on and it looked really grey still so I kinda put more on and when it dried realised it might've been a bit thick.

I'll definitely check out that video, thanks!

Also my mums gonna get me like a magnifying glass thing to help with the smaller details haha.

I'm actually pretty happy with him so far now for my first one :)

Oh ignore my legs in the background. I know they're distracting :P

Dunno what I'm gonna do with the base, hadn't thought of that... Need to do the severed head, gun and eyes too. Haha I'm off work this week ;) hoping to get at least a start on my SoH (as in more than 1 model)

Anyway now I roughly know what I'm doing I'll stop with the tiny update photos, thanks guys.

You've painted more than me!!

And its looking good too!!

@stuman tracks werent that hard for me, actually. It was mostly the trackbed that was giving me a headache, especially were the gates were. I had to trim a lot of stuff there to get them to fit. Otherwise I dryfit them as usually then glued them onto the "wheels". Also tried filing stuff underwater to help with dust. Worked pretty well.

I was actually surprised at how easy the tracks were for me. The only part that made me practically rage quit was the front door/hatch. My bottom one doesnt sit properly intothe top one when closed and its not due to warpage...

Also that whole crew compartment assembly gave me some headaches in dry fitting :/

@fire golem : looking good bud! Nice to see such fast progress on the boys.

@fire golem: They're looking great mate! Loving the bronze. Green is spot on as well! Keep up the good work! thumbsup.gif

I have done a grand total of...nothing since my last post! Work has been ridiculously hectic recently. Off this weekend, so hoping to get a squad painted and the Heavy support squad built. Going to do some basing on the Myrmidons whilst I watch the Poland-Scotland game tonight.

Great work Fire Golem! The green looks very good, and the whole scheme is great. I think they will look very good en mass. Well Worth the wait :)

I'll try and write the week 2 update tomorrow guys, but forgive me if I'm a day late as things are looking a bit hectic!

I'm going for abject failure gents - all my cash in the coming 2-3 months is going into airsoft so I won't be able to pick up the pieces (names a new waist/legs) for the contemptor to finish him... I'll still be browsing and supporting just not building aha

@Fire Golem, really like the grey (EDIT: I mean green of course). Amazing how the look can change with just a little detail done. Very nice for the quick start.

I've got the other 5 Volkites (incl. Sergeant), Basecoated, washed and ready for highlights. After that I have the ammo link thing for all ten to do. I've put it off till now as it's made up of a load of fine resin wires that look to snap as I try and clean them off (a lot required).
