Azekai
Shaking off the rust and rot of my long and slothful absence, I have decided to finally get off my malformed butt and revisit my Nurgle army. This has happily coincided with the 7th Call of Chaos (I am a sucker for auspicious numerology), and I have been wanting to emphasis my warband's ties to the Daemon Forges of the Dark Mechanicus. I am planning on using this thread for updates regarding both the Call of Chaos and the Dark Pact contest. The latter of the two events will hopefully provide the impetus I need to finally finish writing the stories that have been simmering on the back burner.I have been a fan of mutation and pestilence ever since I got my first action figure (it was a Shredder toy with real felt fur! Yay! and ew!), but it was Ryan Powell's Death Guard tactica bit in WD 290 way back in 2004 that really turned me on to Nurgle's love. Powell's painting style was gloriously bright, glossy and gross, and how he enthusiastically described assualts of plague demons and bloated marines made me salivate. Now, over a decade later, I am sitting pretty on a pile of inch tall men and slightly taller monsters and vehicles. I love the wild tumbling-crawling horde feel of chaos, and I have intentionally been making a heterogenous mix of traitorous marines and guardsmen, daemonic overlords, zombies, spawn, and possessed machines. I have scratch built a lot of my stuff (to varying degrees of success) both because I am an unapologetic cheapskate, and because, deep down inside, I yearn to hack things apart with a saw. Consequently, most of my collection is converted in some way, or is vintage stuff (due to my inexplicable love for for fat marines). So without further ado, I present the 'before' pictures of my CoC/DP projects:The HekatonkheireI see this thing as an 'manufactured' Daemon Prince, a prototype created by a mad (and long dead) Dark Magos. The TranscendentThese guys are supposed to be a squad of Plague Terminators infected by a particularly virulent and unstable strain of the Obliterator virus. While the big guy is more or less finished (I have some light sculpting and detail work, and I might change his left mask, not totally sold on it), the Transcendent need a bit more attention. The would-be Obliterators need to be bulked up and, in some cases, litterally re-armed if they are going to actually serve as Obliterators. I was also rushing to take pictures with my brother's superior phone camera, so the bottom far left Oblit is not glued to his upside down base Any and all criticism is welcome, and boy howdy, is it good to be back! Brother Ambroz
Like the big guy from what I can see, any chance of closer pictures? The obliterators are a good start, one thing I'd definitely do though is try to do something with their legs. If they're Nurgle, could try some boils or something but its up to you. Just to spice up those loyalist terminator legs a bit. Azekai
Ok, update time. The Hekatonkheire got a new face and I am learning how to take photos that don't look like utter potatoes (the two lamps tip really helped, thanks Verbal Underbelly)! The guy's sword elbow still needs work (elbows are the bane of my existence) and he still needs some gap filling done around his sides and back.Haven't managed to buckle down and get to work on the Obliterators, and their silly unaltered legs (thanks for pointing out their blatant lack of pustules, Tanith Ghost). Instead I got distracted by my bits box and threw together this pretty face:I think it is a Daemon Princes of Slaanesh who has been subsumed by Nurgle's will. It is kind of hard to tell, but she is clutching a damaged missile which I envision is some sort of bioweapon. In the future I will be more ardent in pursuing my vow. Thank's for looking, and as always, tell me what y'all think.
