@our_baz; Thanks man, always an honour for high praise off a fellow salamander!

@dantay_xv; Thank you! I'm glad you approve :) The red dots are brushed on, and thanks to a slightly blurry photo look nicely blended ;) I've learnt from previous mistakes, that with glowy effects, less is more, so this has turned out pretty well for once! :)

@deathguard101; Blood Angels would make a nice change from wave after wave of green...who knows? Maybe this campaign supplement will spur me on? That said, I've always like the Lamenters, ever since I read the 'Fall of Malvolion' fluff that used to be on the GW website back in the days of yore... ;)

Glad everyone likes the claws and Ashmantle! :) Hope you find the final article to your liking too!

Blurry picture of bass-relief, sorry guys, you can sort of make out the terminator smashing up genestealers :)

And finally, on top of a giant radiator, a climactic showdown...and no, I didn't mathhammer the results! ;)

Thanks for looking! :D

Hey guys, thanks for the kind comments! :D

I haven't tried it out but I think the Tyrannofex would only last one assault phase against Bray'arth, unless he was very lucky and all the dread's attacks missed in the following round! The T-fex might use his smash attack, hitting on a 4+, then penetrating on a 4+ (rerollable)...then would need a six to blow it up, which Bray'arth can re-roll if he's Venerable (which he ought to be for the points, can't remember)...so something like a less than 1 in 20 chance of success there for the T-fex and that's without Bray'arth's venerable rule! Fortunately for him it's unlikely they'll fight, seeing as they're both mine cool.pngmsn-wink.gif

Ahem...anyway. Currently working on the stormtalon, putting on some icons before the weathering begins...then i've ran out of marine models to paint! sad.png

Cheers guys! No need Acez, got myself a tactical squad today ;)

Another update, this time the completed Stormtalon! Some additions to the previous post featuring this fella. Notably the other stormhammer missile pod! Plus decals, flames, and weathering. Quite pleased with how this turned out as I'm not too hot on weathering, and I wasn't sure where to put flames on the model. Anyway, some 5 months after the purchase date....here it is!

Sorry for the wall of photos but wanted to get some decent coverage of it.

I've always wondered why techmarine parts are included in flyer kits but I suppose as a one-man flyer the stormtalon would benefit from a pilot who can also fix the thing if and when it goes down!

Thanks for looking!

Stoneheart :)

Looks good. On the first picture it looked bland but when they started getting up close you can really see the weathering and details that you've put into it. Probably just the photos.

It's funny though because when I saw you painted his shoulders and helmet red, I literally asked myself why did you do that. This should be an assault marine piloting this craft no? I always get confused on this, as in a typical chapter it would be the reserve Assault Company( 7th or 8th, can't remember) piloting all these crafts, like speeders and things. But since the Sallies don't have an assault company on its own, I guess it makes sense that techmarines would pilot them?

Hi Acez, I'd like to think it's the photo ;) but to be honest I've never been as good at painting vehicles as I am at infantry - I think it's the large, flat areas that snooker me! :)

I did think that, but I've always assumed that a chapters aircraft pilots were a separate 'corps' - so for me personally it would either be a techmarine or a 'pilot' marine. I went with the techmarine in the end because the Salamanders do have quite a high proportion of techmarines, and being able to fix the craft you pilot would be quite important in a one-man vehicle. And unfortunately I glued the hatch down so there's no changing it now ;)

I'm pretty sure the Armoury has its own allocation of pilots and stuff.

Could be wrong here, but im pretty sure if you read the description for the Ultramarine special tank character in the Codex, it mentions the way pilots and stuff are seperate. :)

Great work, btw! Haha. The flames in particular are looking awesome on the Talon.

Evening all! Thanks for all the kind comments :)

This latest post heralds the end of what has been quite a painting-heavy few weeks for me, so I'm taking a break for a week or so before the enthusiasm wears off - also I really need to paint some more nids! Latest purchase was a tactical squad, and I've just finished the Sergeant, who is shown below. Just need to base him. Also included are some WIPs of the Assault squad sergeant, I was going to give him a power maul and plasma pistol (master crafted) but decided in the end to go for twin lightning claws (master crafted) - same points and better in assault I reckon. Thoughts?

@Magic Man, I read the fluff for Chronus and that does indeed describe a separate 'armoury' marine section, which I guess covers specialised vehicles like the preds, whirlwinds etc. As nearly all vehicle crew models for space marines include a mechanicum cog shoulder pad I guess that is the symbol of the chapter forge/armoury? So, I'm going to go with the story that my stormtalon pilot is a member of the chapter armoury so sports red sections of armour, symbolic of his technical qualifications etc. Real techmarines are all red in this version ;)

Glad you like it/them, thanks :D I was wondering whether to put more flames on but couldn't think of anywhere else I could face painting them on! ;)

@00branchow, thanks brother :D the soot streaks are streaks of nuln oil on the wings, painted by dragging the brush quickly towards the front of the model - multiple layers make them darker of course :)

@Schultzhoffen, thanks man, really pleased that the gold has made such a good impression here! :D the gold is runelord brass, adrax earthshade, then runefang steel to highlight :)

Thanks DeathbyWes!

Thanks for looking - more pics up in a week  or so!

I take a little break form teh P&M subforums, and this is what I miss. How annoying tongue.png

Absolutely lovely work across the board. And I'm happy to join others in praise of your golds. How people manage that is beyond me.

Hey thanks all, really appreciate the appreciation :) Makes me want to get the paints out again...but I have to resist until next week at least!

@Quixus, unfortunately he's not good enough to be a captain yet ;) I see where you're coming from though!

Very pretty work so far.

As other folks have said, your metallics are lovely.

My favorite bit is the variation you put into the drake scale of the combi-melta guy. Looks much more interesting that way instead of just a flat green or brown.
