Here I will be recording my progress as I create the models and fluff of the imperial defenders of the Hive Tyrian which will hopefully climax in a game/campaign in which the fate of the city is decided. I have already painted over 2000 points of Space Marines over the past few months and have just acquired a large Astra Militarum force which leaves me with a lot to paint. In this log I will be showcasing what I've already painted, laying down the background of my marines, my guard and the conflict that they are about to engage in, as well as providing updates as I paint my new models. Yet they are also ruthlessly hunted by inquisitors of the Ordo Heriticus, having been labeled heretics for their unorthodox beliefs. The Illumators' current forces are made up of the second company - the sole surviving intact company - as well as elements from the 1st and reserve companies. In addition to their Astartes warriors, the Illumators are supported by the 4122nd Cadian Regiment of the Astra Militarum who have joined the cause of the Illumators as well as the Freeblade knight Garith. These forces have heard the call of the Hive Tryrian and are on their way to defend the city. They are an infantry regiment, supplying much needed bodies to the forces of the Illumators. They are also equipped with several leman russ tanks and basilisk artillery platforms. In battle, they provide a base of fire support to the mobile forces of the Astartes. The 4122nd Regiment is led by Commissar Corbo a grizzled veteran of many campaigns, most notably against the Tyranid Hive Fleet Medusa which threatened the Hator system, former home world of the Illumators. The 4122nd was sent in to aid the Illumators in the system's defense prior to the chapter's labeling as renegade. Following the successful defense of the Hator system, The 4122nd was stationed on Hator Tertius as a safeguard against the inevitable next wave of the Hive Fleet Medusa. So they're certainly not my best painting, but I'll get back to them and give them a touch up eventually. I still have about double that left to do as well as 3 more heavy weapons teams. So there is still a lot left in front of me. Although, it may be a little while before I get to them as the Son's of Sanguinius are calling. They were however a nice break from power armor and certainly were refreshing in that respect. So perhaps once power armor weighs me down again i'll come back to the guard.
