The NEW "What will 2014 Bring?" thread

Anyone else notice the terminator librarian with fore axe and combi melta in that appendix picture. It's a totally new scupt!!!

And while I was looking at crating a phoenix themed marine chapter using blood angel rules, that new tactical kit talked me into just doing a third incarnation on my blood Angels successor, so the Scions of Blood will be making a reappearance soon, when imcan find time to paint and build an army. Darn was not wanting to do black and red marines again... Lol but those new bits are so dang amazing.

So here's a question:  when are they going to put those new bases on sale, or have they already and I don't know where to look?

I hate my Blood Angels' bases and these new ones are a great excuse to redo them well.  (plus I don't have like a billion to do so it's not a big deal for me…I get that it is for others)

Since all the models in the Deathstorm box set have furious charge, I suspect that furious charge is the new army-wide rule replacing blood thirst.

Captain Karlaen's "strategic genius" rule is unfortunately just a pre-determined warlord trait from the BRB and not a special rule. It's a good trait to have, though as you can plan a list around it if you know you're going to have it.

The iTunes preview shows the fluff for warlord traits and it's not one of them - seems to be unique to Karlean.

Agree on furious charge

I'm working on compiling the iBooks and eBook previews into PDFs that we can just download and look at. A couple things I noticed: there are Blood Angel Assault Marines in one of the pictures, but they are definitely the old ones as they are still on the 25mm bases. Looks like Seth comes in at 155 points and is a Lord of War. Lastly, Descent of Angels is just a Warlord Trait now it seems. Here's the Warlord Table. Anyone want to speculate on these:

I am the spectulator! I spectaculate.

1) Rampage USR

2) Fleet USR, perhaps granted to his squad as well?

3) One weapon is Master Crafted.

4) Adamantium Will (Duh)

5) Could be the old Descent of Angels. Could be something even nicer (ie. the entire army scatters less with jump packs - this warlord doesn't scatter at all). In other words, maybe this is Dante's Warlord Trait.

6) Some kind of morale boosting effect. I predict that this is Tycho's "everyone in the army uses his Ld score" power. This is Tycho's Warlord Trait.

anyone else notice the vampire teeth on the tactical squad sgt? Space Vampires NOOOOOOOOO

i did dry.png Not a huge fan.

Can anyone tell me where in our fluff it mentions our teeth going like that?

Well, there's some fairly explicit stuff about various successor's ritual consumption of blood and/or flesh of their enemies , so the space vampire idea is there. Then, there's the Angels Sanguine who don't take their helmets off for anyone not in the chapter. Taken in conjunction the implication is fangs or some other deformity

Basically, though, no. I've not seen any fluff that explicitly states we have fangs. I think GW like there being the suggestion that some might have them and so they do stuff like this to stoke the fire every now and then.

Gotta say, I'm not a fan of it being overt either.

In Blood Quest they show BA with a hell of a lot more than just fangs, though fangs are shown. Granted that is also second edition fluff. I do not know of anything more recent than that. Good story considering where it occurs in the development of the hobby. Its no ADB, but you take what you can get.

1-Str bonus on the charge? Rage maybe?

2-Obvious Initiative bonus.

3-His weapons become mastercrafted.

4-Adamantinum will. Maybe some other bonus when trying to dispell.

5-Rerolling reserve rolls and scattering less.

6-Giving a Ld bubble. Maybe auto fearless.

So, a vanilla terminator captain w/ TH is 135 points. That model has the chapter tactics SR. Captain Karlaen has furious charge as the BA "chapter tactic".

Captain Karlaen is 160 points. You're paying 25 points for his TH to be master crafted and for him to have a pre-determined warlord trait.

Seems very pricey to me.

A vanilla TDA captain is base 120 pts. A master crafted hammer is 30 pts. He is 10 pts more expensive.

Just remembered that "Strategic Genius" is one of the BRB warlord traits. Karlaen just gets it as pre-determined.

Where did you get the price for a master crafted hammer?

A thunderhammer is generally 20 points, Master-Crafted 10. Add both up and voila.

Vanilla terminator captains come with a power weapon so the hammer is only a 15 point upgrade for them. Applying 10 points for MC means the model would be 145 points, 15 less than Carlean.

Ahhhh, I see.  In addition to the pre-determined warlord trait, Karlean has counter attack. I guess that is what you're paying for.

That's the new librarian terminator armor,,though this shot doesn't include the combi melta

Love the stride he has with his hand getting ready to cast and the axe is in motion with his stride instead of the static result they did for the sanguinary priest who stole a dark Angels robes.

oh also he has a Blood drop on his knee and on his hip! Cant make out his shoulders but it might be The BA chapter insignia on one of them. So this is definetly looking like another BA model!

Easily cleaned up for any other chapter though!

Counter attack AND furious charge.

Points wise he's actually very well priced.
