Played a 2v2 once with a Necron ally against Guard + Deathwing. His monolith ate Belial and half his termy squad in a single turn. My vindi killed another recently deepstruck terminator squad. All in all I have to say, pretty decent chaps (as far as filthy xenos go).

That is really old and refers to the atrocious fluff Ward put in the previous codex. Has the Necron Blood Angels alliance been retconned?

I am quite interested in the idea of using command squads as a melta delivery system. The price is about 30 points higher than simmilarly tooled assault squads but they have several advantages.

• FNP and Company Champion built-in.

• Veteran stats.

• Do not use up an FA slot (leaves it free for grav bikers).

I know they can take JPs at the same price per-head as melta bombs. Can they also take pods for alpha-striking?

This was an option that jumped out at me, too. I'm glad the deal fell through when I tried to trade all my gravguns and combigravs from my Sternguard kits for more meltaguns and flamers. Now I just need some more bikes.

seeing as one of the shield of baal books coming out in the calendar is about the silent king.. and necrons are in the third campaign book... i doubt it! tongue.png

To be fair, the third Sanctus Reach book had a ton of Khorne Daemon stuff.

You may want to check the Shield of Baal: Exterminatus thread...

If I was making ba my army would start with the following :

 

-Sanguinary Priest with jump pack hq

-Dante and 10 Sanguinary Guard

-2 Assault Squads in drop pods, 2 Meltas, 2 inferno pistols each (this is only 270 pts for BOTH units!)

-Astaroth and DC blob, all jump packs

-3 x 5 man tac squads, all combi flamer and heavy flamer in Las Plas Razorback

-Stormraven and 2 Dakka Baals

Anyone already build a unit with the new base sizes? I was worried the larger imprint while deepstriking without DoA might hurt, a lot. Is there any new way to reduce scatter without Dante on jumpers?

Ive built some DC with them.  really not that much of a difference.  As for the reduced scatter there is a no scatter JP relic.

Anyone already build a unit with the new base sizes? I was worried the larger imprint while deepstriking without DoA might hurt, a lot. Is there any new way to reduce scatter without Dante on jumpers?

I'm pretty sure it was stated that the army can only have 1 relic.

Peronally I don't see why you would make him a Captain.

Speaking of which I can't decide over the best 2nd Wind Combat Delivery system for the force.

 

A Command Squad with FNP and Mephiston in a SR

 

OR

 

5 Assualt Terminators with a Priest in a SR

 

Very Similar Points and both are potent, only leaning towards the terminators due to WS5 and S9 on the charge with better saves.

One less wound though and it means I don't have any Libarians in my force but I need something to counter the very real force of Big griblies, death stars and Wraith knights. :P

AP 2 power sword with Furious Charge and +1 init on the charge (or always with Corbulo) is awesome!

I'm sure it has been postet before but I really can't find it anymore, which rules do the CC weapons of the sanguinary guard have in the new codex?

Pretty sure no change from what they have now.

 

Wargear item Relic "Angels Wings' reduces DS scatter by D6, also means interceptors only get snap shots. It's 5 Meltabombs.

If you had Dante in a list, a unit with this jump pack wouldn't scatter then, right?

 

 

It does not say anywhere that it stacks with Decent of Angels.

 

 

 

 

The weapons are the same as the old Sanguinary Guard but the Axe is a free upgrade but has Unwieldy and Strength +1. Pretty much bussiness as usual.

I'd argue that any AP2 weapon that isn't Unwieldy is already fairly special.
