The NEW "What will 2014 Bring?" thread

I'd planned for my company once painted (its built) to be 3rd Co, but whilst I love Tycho, his new rules make me want to hurt people, so it'll now be a 2nd/3rd Company mix I think, allowing me to make both captains (I have a Tycho that I love) and use either or depending on mood.

Third company with two captains is what i'll do. Tycho and his successor post armageddon.

i think someone said something about challenges, maybe even something related to losing a challenge? that was probably somneone wishlisting though

that would make more sense! :P Machiavi. (is his name)

So, is my math wrong?

Dante

10 DC

3 x 5-man RAS in a pod with 2 meltas and 2 infernus pistols

4 x 10-man Scout squads with one power sword

1845 points

So - why the scouts, you ask?

Well, as someone mentioned up-thread, scouts in the standard BA detachment would be S5 (Furious Charge) and I5. So, wouldn't 10 of them be 30 S5 I5 attacks on the charge, so even at WS3 that's an average of 15 S5 hits, right? Not so amazing against high-WS infantry but against WS3 troops they're scary. They have Scout and Infiltrate too.

Drop the pods - pop tanks, 40 scouts + Dante's DC assault available targets?

Wargear item Relic "Angels Wings' reduces DS scatter by D6, also means interceptors only get snap shots. It's 5 Meltabombs.

If you had Dante in a list, a unit with this jump pack wouldn't scatter then, right?

It does not say anywhere that it stacks with Decent of Angels.

I don't think it has to. If both special rules reduce the scatter by 1d6, 0d6 remain.

The weapons are the same as the old Sanguinary Guard but the Axe is a free upgrade but has Unwieldy and Strength +1. Pretty much bussiness as usual.

Axes previously were free as well, and standard mastercrafted two handed power axes. So it is exactly as before.

I'd argue that any AP2 weapon that isn't Unwieldy is already fairly special.

That may have been the intention but most 6th and 7th Ed. codices get one of those.

Anybody know what the BA tactical cards are? I can see challenges being more rewarding for us.

I do mate and there are good ones for challenegs, I however don't want to type out a pile of cards so get anything you want to know as a certain thing or?

Back to the AP 2 sword though, its still base strength, yes AP 2 is nice but when the others beef you up strength as well, I know we are stronger when charging but that does mean we need to always be on the attack charging forwards.

Kinda reminds me of Crank watch an hour and a half of Jason Statham running around screaming and rubbing up against Chester Bennington. :P

The AP2 sword is obviously not as good as Dante's axe, but if you already have Dante and want your Librarian or Priest to be really good...

The Dante/Relic jump pack will depend on how its worded.  If both reduce scatter to 1d6, then they wouldn't stack.  If the jump pack reduces scatter by 1d6, then they should stack.

Furious charge offsets base str. Ap2 is tons better than ap3

Just checked it as its new to me still, Dantes Decent of angels say, sactters 1D 6 less than normal.

The Angels Wing just allows to reroll scatter and misshap results.

Your still going to go D6.

Question for the fellas with a codex in their hands:

Does the wording on the command squad still allow dual special weapons, such as flamer and melta gun on the same model?

Just checked, afraid not, can't have it all can we?

It is allot better but still it means we have to be charging and lets face it, its going to be compared with the burning Blade.

AP 2 strength 7 is much better but is 55 points more...

Yes it is.  Dante's axe is AP2 already, and Strength +2 and not unwieldly, so clearly better than the AP2 sword.  In my mind hte AP2 sword is probably the best weapon option for a non-named HQ and would be awesome for some named HQs but they can't take it.

Thinking about it, the captain is probably the best choice for the sword, due to higher initiative he already has.  After that, Chaplain (I like the idea of the sword and Crozius combo depending on who you are fighting).

I think I'm going to make a pseudo Tycho with the new rules since he took a nerf dart to the knee :D

Here's what I plan to do:

Captain

+artificer armor, iron halo, ap2 sword (modeled as Dead Man's hand), and either a combi-melta with hellfire rounds (can we get those now?) or the new plasma pistol modeled as blood song

It might be expensive, but I miss good ole Tycho the Psycho.

As for inspirational BLOOD music I recommend:

It may sound familiar as your local Sanguinary priest sings about this song and blood through his veins when talking about the Primarch ;)
