Scored best painted and best traitor general at the 1500pts tourney :). Very happy with how the 3rd performed. First time I faced such a variety of legions and I've really seen the power of the 3rd at work, sweeping entire units left-right- and center :). The tourney had a warlord progression system, giving xp to the warlord for capturing objectives, killing characters etc. My Champion ended the tourney with +1A, +1T, +1L, +1S, master of ambush and +1I (like he needed that). 

 

It made me embrace the 3rd again and I've added a Levithan, Deredeo, 10 marines and another 5 terminators to the legion to be painted. I'm fully embracing the close combat now. Apart from the Deredeo (for the anti air), I'll be focussing the entire army on combat :).

After a nice 4v4 3000pts each HH apoc last week, I've become very motivated to finish some stuff. So I've started with my 4 droppods (2 normal and 2 deathstorm). At the same time I'm painting up 10 RG lascannon heavy support and as soon as my FW order drops I'll paint up a RG damocles command Rhino with RG doors. On the side I'm painting all the required weapons for the RG infantry to make them WYSIWYG. I'm hoping it will all be done before the end of the month, and when it is done, I'll treat myself and my RG army on a Thunderhawk Gunship to have 4.5K of painted RG.

 

So, here are some picks of one of the drop pods. 2 others are  at 75% completion of this result and I'm waiting for the 4th to arrived from FW.

It took some effort to make sure the pods combined nicely with the scheme I had for the RG infantry, but I'm happy with the same gritty look I finally landed on.

I'm at 95% completing of my Raven Guard. I've got a tournament coming up, playing 3k without named characters. So I'll be completing that 3k list, and with Corax and Maun I'll actually have 3500pts + fully painted (first fully completed army in the 20 years I've been playing tabletop wargames  ).

 

I've added the paragon blade option to my original RG Thunderhammer praetor (magnets), added a moritat, 10 lascannons and my fire raptor is coming along quite nicely (very happy with the effect I managed to get on the leading edges of the wings, I was aiming for an effect of rocks and debris having hit it, scratched and dented it and still leaving for small dusty/rock pieces in there). Also at 90% completion is another javelin speeder and I've finished all the weapons (plasma guns, bolters, melta guns, sniper rifles) for my infantry. I'll be uploading a pic of the complete army later this month . So happy to finally have an army finished by then!

It's DONE . After 18 years I finally have a fully painted normal-game-sized army . Very motivated to do the same to my Emperors Children over the next few weeks. Only big project there is a dreadclaw pod that I don't want to paint. I have started with random required infantry models.

(yes, the raptor is currently on the EC's storm eagle snow base, I forgot my Raptor base at the last place I played a game so didn't have it at hand for the pics)

Painted up some extra stuff this week and converted + painted my champion as well today (he deserved a decent model after all his kills, and the BA praetor was the perfect base)

- 3 Phoenix Guard

- Tactical sergeant with spear (with Jump pack option to be a Palatine blade)

- Chainfist + Normal fist for Contemptor

- Spear for Terminator sergeant

I absolutly love the wear and tear on your Raven Guard's armour. At first glance, it seems heavy handed and over the top. But the more I take it in, the more I can't imagine it without it or even toned down.

Thanks :). I can imagine some people like the models more clean, or with just some dedicated weathering (like a few scratches or bullet holes). But since the theme of the army is the Istvann atrocity and aftermath, I felt like heavy weathering suited better. Not just scratches and holes, but overall damage and weathering cause by being exposed to harsh conditions and fighting for months at an end. Plus it has the added benefit of making black armour look more dynamic and interesting :).

 

The name plate was ordered at: https://www.versatileterrain.co.uk . I ordered one for all my RG characters. I can highly recommend this company if you are looking for the same.

A new edition of the game gets new additions to the armies. Picking up painting again :).
 

This one still needs some weathering, get a design on his white shoulder, have his base done and be given a volkite charger, but other than that he is done.
