Looking forward to seeing those stormhawks with paint.

I will finish the knight before I start on the Hawks. And I haven't yet decided if they will be iron hands, sons of Medusa or something else. I'm going to paint a test model for the SoM using a different green (more desaturated like sons of horus) and see if it's something I like

Work is going slowly but steadily on the Knight. Here is a pip shot next to his brother in arms

He has a different hue of yellow unfortunately because I couldn't remember how I painted the crusader!! Even though I have a journal where I note different colors I use I must have forgotten to write how I did the yellow

First vow is complete and I started on my second vow yesterday. Here's a first attempt at painting UM infantry

Metals still need to be finished. I need to find a nice gold for highlighting the trims (they're done in balthazar gold and it's a little to bronzeish for my taste). I will also try some freehand on the cloak, maybe something in gold

Here's the first vow

So the Captain is almost done now and I started work on Tigurius:

I'm not sure how I'm going to do the bases for these guys. Part of me wants to buy the new plastic scenic bases from GW

So I finally got some time for my airbrush and laid down the blue on the squads in my second vow. Here's some step by step pics:

After a black primer I pretty much covered their armor in Vallejo Deep Sea Blue

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn18/mperssonbmmseifer/20160603_123943_resized_zpsevfxg0px.jpg

Then I did a Zenithial highligh with Vallejo Magic Blue

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn18/mperssonbmmseifer/20160603_130258_resized_zpsnggpyywk.jpg

After that I did specific highlights with Vallejo Light Sea Blue

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn18/mperssonbmmseifer/20160603_132648_resized_zpsjovguju9.jpg

And finally I highlighted the previous step with pure white, this adds more contrast and removes the turquoise hue of the Light Sea Blue. Here is how far my vow has progressed so far

Disaster struck. Applied a gloss coat to the infantry and it ruined everything. Don't know if it was the heat or if the varnish was spoiled.

Now I don't know what to do really, I really don't want to try to strip them. And redoing the paint job on top of the varnish will result in 10 layers of paint in total which might ruin the details.

I'm actually thinking of doing them Iron hands which will only require 2 additional layers. I don't know, I will have to sleep on it and make a decision tomorrow

Ok, so I decided to repaint the marines and to try to save the details I painted them for my IH force instead. I also used the new GW bases. Still have quite some work left on these: weathering and freehanding but they are slowly getting there.

Start of ETL vow nr.3

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn18/mperssonbmmseifer/20160623_113921_resized_zps8dbzlzq6.jpg

And sorry FW, but I really don't like your kits. The Sicaran was decent with good quality cast but the Laser destroyers were awful. Lots of flashing and the barrels for one of the vindicators was missing alot of resin from a miscast. I will probably fix it myself with green stuff though.

Anyway, midsummer's eve (aka Swedens 'drink as much as you can' holiday) is upon us and the hobby will have to take a break during the weekend.

Weekend is over, finally sober and with my hands being less shaky it's time to continue with my vow. Still got a quad mortar and a vindicator to assemble before I start priming them. Will try to get it done tonight along with fixing the miscast barrels

So everything is finally assembled and ready to be primed (disregard the painted minis in the background). Forgot to include one Rhino in the picture below but that is also part of the vow

I think this will amount to the biggest vow (points wise) I have made so hopefully it won't be to overwhelming :)

I'll have the whole weekend dedicated to hobbies so I will hopefully get alot of painting done on saturday. Sunday will be a game day with a 2v2 battle, 3000pts on each side but when that's done I will probably have a few hours to dedicate to painting.

I'm going to try to magnetize the Sicaran sponsons as well. Don't know if I made a mistake assembling them. I've seen a friends Sicaran where he magnetized only the weapons and had the sponsons permanently on the chassis but I want to have the whole sponson detachable

Right, so I did manage to paint a bit this weekend. Got to do the base colors for one of the chapter masters, the sicaran and the vindicator. They now need some weathering before they're done. In the background you can still see the Laser Destroyers not primed. I did intend to paint them but when I got to the workshop where I keep my airbrush I discovered I hadn't assembled the tracks on them (which also can be seen) so priming them will have to wait until next airbrush session

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn18/mperssonbmmseifer/20160704_112634_resized_zpsfxkdlp32.jpg

And just for funsies, as I was unpacking a bunch of models I set them up on the table to get an overview of what I have at the moment. So this is my IH force as it stands in different stages of painting. Only thing missing in this picture is 1 drop pod, 1 Razorback and 2 Rhinos. And everything still left on sprues ofc smile.png

Summer vacation is upon us and I have three weeks off from work. Time to get moving on my ETL vow. Yesterday was a good day for the hobby as I had time to go to my airbrush 'studio' and finish the priming and highlighting on all models. Now it is time to warm up the brushes and finish all the detail work (I forgot to include the quad mortars in the picture)

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn18/mperssonbmmseifer/20160718_133521_resized_zpsqbqd48sc.jpg

And while I was at the studio I also laid down the airbrush base for a side project. I had to saturate my hunger for painting something other than black so I started up a third army, Chaos Daemons:

Update on my vow. I have pretty much finished the Quad Mortars

I'll be going away for a week today so that leaves me with just over a week to finish the rest of my vow. I have half a Land Raider and some minor details to do so it shouldn't be a problem

Now with the ETL over I will concentrate on filling in the gaps of my IH force. I have a bunch of kits lying on the shelf so first up is building a few devastators and assault marines to complete my Skyhammer. I will also try to build a couple of librarians. Below is two libbys, one on bike and another with jump pack, kitbashed from a mix of assault marines, grey knights and ravenwing bikers. They won't win any modelling contests but they will do for my army. I also have a couple of inquisitors to assemble and the Death Masque box arriving soon. I will wait for everything to be assembled before I start painting them though.

Edit: I will try to take a group photo for everything that was part of the ETL V if I get the time this week

Back again from my 40k hiatus. Real life, computer games and some blood bowl mania has kept me from these forums and the 40k hobby in general. I still have a few minor obstacles to overcome before I can resume my building and painting of the Iron Tenth.

And i can't wait: I have the prospero box, the Deathwatch box and a bucket load of FW goodness waiting to be cleaned, assembled and painted.

Updates with pictures will follow shortly!

Ok, so I've started painting a few new models for my IH force. One being from the Prospero box and the other is a praetor

This is just a standard MkIII marine straight from the box with no additional parts. He's pretty much done except for shoulder markings

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn18/mperssonbmmseifer/2016-11-05%2014.09.49_resized_zps7kychrqk.jpg

This one will get his hand done when I decide what weapon to run him with smile.png. He has a bit of work left on him, namely the face, leather straps and sword arm. I might even be changing the power sword for a power fist or similiar heavy hitting object

Next on the workbench, a Cataphractii terminator. I'm doing the leather straps grey/white as I want to keep the force looking quite monochrome. Only place where I'll add color are for eye lenses, other lights/lenses and energy weapons
