This time I'm painting a sergeant with a powerfist in artificer armour. I will use the crested helmet to show artificer armour throughout my army.

I'm also trying to add more rust weathering and I think it turned out pretty good. Also trying the GW gloss washes on the metals for a more oily look. Also pretty pleased with it, the gloss wash is wonderful to wotk with.

I will be using him in a 10 man tactical squad for 30k and for kill team. Any ideas for a name for him?

Been fiddling with my Silver Tower minis in anticipation for the 1ksons releases. I was planning to use the tzaangors from the board game and bolster my horror squads with some split fodder.

Here are som pips on the different models, more or less color scheme tests:

Having 20-25 pink horrors in my daemon army would have me getting 40-50 blue and brimstone horrors.. hmm i wonder if they release separate boxes for them anytime soon? Will be kinda pricey to buy silver tower boxes to fill that need :)

Update on my entry for the Call of Chaos IX

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn18/mperssonbmmseifer/20161205_133352_resized_zpsiww363am.jpg

I have more or less blocked out all colors and now it's time for shading and highlighting. Still haven't decided on what colors to use for the beaks, claws and 'wing horns'. Pretty fun model to paint even though its size makes it slight complicated to turn in your hand. Thank god its resin though, I'm dreading to paint my LoC in white metal :) And to finish my flying monsters I will probably be getting Magnus as well to go with my Fatey, LoC and Bel'Akor

Today i tried my hands at another color scheme. And so a Death Guard marine was born:

Still have some detailing to do and base to finish but it gives a general idea on the final look

I like him a lot. Death Guard can get too messy sometimes, but you've found a good balance between weathering and keeping large patches of the armour bright, with that dark battle damage providing great contrast. However, I'm not sure about the green part on his back pack, I feel like it diverts too much attention from his helmet, which should be a focal point. Maybe painting the eye lenses will change that, though.

Great job so far.

So I'm doing a bunch of test models to decide what army I should start collecting. I have a few boxes I want my new army to tick:

*first of all it must be fun to paint.

*I would love to have the color scheme work in both 30 and 40k without having to come up with fluff reasons

*I have been thinking of doing a heretic force to be able to run them as CSM with my daemons in 40k

*my daemons are tzeentch but I'm not entirely sold on the 1ksons

So I kind of enjoyed painting Death Guard but I'm not sure if I want to play them as an entire 40k army. So I decided to paint a Kill Team using the HoR rules for a small campaign that we're going to kick off next year. Following are some wip pictures which are about 80% finished.

First off are the two Plague Marines that are included in my team. The overall theme of the army will be based on older marine armor marks since I don't fancy the CSM spikey range. I used the FW torso/head to distinguish these from regular Death Guard marines and the rest of them are MkIII to keep them with the theme of the team.

And finally the leader, a regular Terminator champion. I decided to use the Tartaros pattern armor even though in the game he is using a regular Indomitus variant. I haven't actually painted a Tartaros before so I wanted to try it :)

I will try to finish these three chaps before I turn my attention to the rest of the team which consists of a chosen, a raptor, two bikers and 10 cultists

My wip thread has been very diverse lately. I have to many projects going at the moment *grin*

Anyways, my local club has started a slow grow 30k campaign where every body is starting with 500pts. So I took the plunge and right now I'm in the middle of painting a small list of Sons of Horus.

I finally found a good shade of green together with a gold that works to my liking, here's a snap of the models that are closest to being finished:

I still haven't decided on what color the bases will be. Was thinking dusty red/orange for a nice contrast but it might be to harsh?

This is truly becoming a wip log. Rarely do I post pictures of finsihed projects and I probably will continue that way. Because as soon as one project is done, we start with the next one right away don't we?

So I had an idea to start adding other Imperial elements to my Space Marine force. First thing to find its way to my door step was some Grey Knights. I started off with a Terminator squad

These are more or less done and are awaiting their 2 missing brothers along with a Dreadnight. With these guys I will pay extra attention to their bases and try for an autumn/snow effect

This will make a nice addition when facing my buddies Daemons

And next project is a contemptor dreadnought with dual close combat weapons. This model show one of my methods of giving some life to the black. I'm using what could most accurately be described as a brown/red glaze to 'shade' the black and give it some color.

Most of the metals have alot more work to be done on and the whole model will probably get some more weathering before it's complete.

Sweet models.

The DG is particularly nice. How did you do the weathering?

Thanks!

The DG weathering is done by sponge painting some dark browns/greys/blacks and then different brown enamel washes (I used AK Interactive products lite Rust Streaks and Streaking Grime)

He looks really nice.  I would go with a white skull on his head, though, as there is a fair bit of metal on him already and it should tie in nicely to the knee numbers.
