892.M30 – 501st Expeditionary Fleet – Compliance: 501-17

Shuriken fire flew at 1st Squad’s position in a glittering torrent. The hurricane of monomolecular disks riddled the facade of the manufactory in their thousands, shining like fish scales in the sunlight. Sergeant Nerva cursed. The lithe xenos warriors had outmaneuvered them at every turn, always a step ahead, while the forces of the 501st expedition floundered in the wake of countless hit-and-run strikes. 

 

Glancing around the shredded ferrocrete pillar sheltering him, Sergeant Nerva caught sight of several black armored warriors moving into position, long-barreled cannons gripped in their hands. They wore ivory masks that bore a warped resemblance to the skull-faced reaper of antiquated human myth. A stream of Eldar shuriken forced him back behind the pillar.

 

“Command, Sergeant Nerva, 1st Squad. Under fire in district three, xenos light infantry with heavy weapons, support requested. Engaging.” 

 

A voice of granite and steel came over the comm net.

 

“Your request is acknowledged Sergeant Nerva. Ave Imperator.”

 

The only warning was the brief sound of a rotary motor spooling up. The Eldar position disappeared with a howling roar of explosive detonations. The kinetic force of the gunfire ripped the lean xenos to pieces, catastrophic overpressure from the hundreds of explosions blasting them out of their armor and rupturing internal organs in an instant. As suddenly as it had started, the hail of death ceased. Thunderous footfalls echoed through the ruins, breaking the brief silence. The massive form of Venerable Nidon smashed through the wall adjoining 1st squad’s position, storming the Eldar like an enraged bear. 

 

A handful of the alien warriors had survived the devastating barrage, however they were incapable of mounting any form of defense in time to stop the Legion assault. Venerable Nidon raised the right fist of his Contemptor Dreadnought chassis and activated the heavy flamethrower contained within.

 

“No mercy for the alien.”

Thanks everyone for your support, hope you enjoy the narrative pieces, let me know if you want me to continue writing my little fluff bits alongside the models. Also any comments or critiques are much appreciated, they really keep Flint and myself going and help us stay motivated for this project. Don't worry if you haven't heard from either of us in a while on this blog, if we have to abort it we'll make it official, otherwise just assume that our lives are busy throwing the kitchen sink at us and we'll be back after we've sorted the chaos out. Well I know you guys have been clamoring for paint, so here are the first 5 Marines from 1st Squad. No fluff today, sorry I just don't have the energy, I'll probably write some when the whole squad is completed. Anyways, let me know what you guys think, comments and criticism are much appreciated as always!

Yessir, basically trying to do 30k on budget, so there's gonna be a good amount of FW stuff mixed with stuf from my bits box or stripped down form old armies.
