Evening folks!

First thing, here are my Terminators so far.

Second, every good story needs a villain. As well, I'm finally getting a chance to start gaming every now and again, so I'm going to need a painted Legion to destroy my enemies. So I'm going to start including the World Eaters of the 26th company here in our little buddy cop narrative plog as well.

Trying a couple of new things on this tester marine so feel free to let me know what you think along with any helpful things you feel like yelling at him happy.png

Now, the rest of my XII legion won't be quite this weathered but I wanted to see just how beat to hell I could realistically make one World Eater biggrin.png

Veteran Sergeant Caedo Vitus looked out across the embarkation deck of the Slaughter-Class Cruiser. Under the direction of legion serfs, groups of servitors cleared munitions and supply containers from the landing area. Warning klaxons sounded and set of amber lights began flashing to either side of the bay doors. The monotone voice of a female servitor echoed across the deck.
 
“Warning. Warning. Warning. Blast doors disengaged. Void protocols are in effect.”
 
Massive slabs of bonded adamantium divided like tectonic plates. Sergeant Vitus stood immobile; a massive crimson statue in growling Cataphractii war-plate. Behind him the other four members of Assault Cadre Primus stood, armored in kind. The sliding doors of the embarkation deck rumbled to a halt. Beyond them spanned the abyssal black of the void, laced with the pinpricks of distant stars. Sergeant Vitus spotted the ebony and ochre vessel first.
 
“Here they come. Stand to brothers.”
 
A Legiones Astartes Storm Eagle hove into view, upon its flank a clenched fist of black iron on a field of ivory. Thrusters angling downward, it angled into the landing area with a deafening roar. Heavy-duty landing struts deployed and the ship settled like a gigantic bird of prey. As the engines began to cycle down, the front assault ramp descended with a hydraulic whine. From within came ten giants in armor the color of their transport. At their head a massive warrior with a chainfist gauntlet on his left arm and a thunder hammer slung over his right shoulder. The squad came to a halt in front of Vitus and his men.
 
“I am Braerion Vaughn, Praetor of the 59th Company. VII Legion.”
 
Sergeant Vitus and his men slammed their right fist to their chests in salute. 
 
“Welcome aboard the Red King, Praetor.”

The IX Legion marches on! Sorry everyone for the relative radio silence, I've been super busy with life stuff as usual, as well as chugging away at the last five members of 1st Tactical. Should have some more updates in the days ahead, so long as I can stop being lazy and crank out some fluff. Let me know if you guys would rather have fluff with models, or just models as I can crank out models faster than I can overcome my laziness to write lol. Anyways, comments and critiques are much appreciated as always! Thanks for taking a look!

Brilliant, Heinrich! The plasma blaster is particularly great, it suits the terminators much better than the standard FW one. It looks much more like a heavy assault weapon, that would pack a serious punch in a boarding action. Excellent work on Caedo's thunder hammer. I was going to try to have my Praetor wielding an axe in a similar two handed pose, but ended up changing his axe for a spear.

 

The topknots look good and are a fitting tribute to the original art. If I could make a suggestion, it would be to try to add a bit of variety. The Ork Nob and WHFB Savage Orc kits both have several topknots that would look great on the Terminators.

 

More minis are always welcome! I always look forward to the fluff and enjoy reading it, but it's the minis and awesome conversions that inspire me the most :)

That's one nice hammer!  Reminds me of historical war- and polehammer heads, such as this. Even in its right place in the context of heavily-armoured melee... same goes for the hammer-sides of the chain axes, actually... I suppose you used the Ravenwing-Knights pick-weapons as a basis? GW really took the "knight" part literally, didn't they?

I'm not sold on the topknots, visual symbols of other legions (SoH, WS, etc...). But the conversions are absolutly stunning.

I really like that plasma blaster too, though the brass ejection ports look out of place on it. I'm also not a fan of the topknots, but then I think topknots on top of termie armor like that, regardless of Legion, looks weird. Otherwise, incredible as always. The conversion on the Vet Sgt's pose is really well done, especially the haft. ;) I also never thought about using 40k termie arms and sculpting on the lower Cat shoulder pad like that.

Would be great to get them all in one hit.

 

I say wait for the writing but don't force the issue. But then nothing goes down like the cool crisp freshness of a brother Heinrich painted miniature...

(For fluff purposes I'm calling it a Belicossa Pattern Plasma Blaster) As far as the topknots go I know Blood Angels don't usually make people think of them, but I wanted to blend the artistry of the Legion with the Savagery of their Baalite roots (It's freaking Mad Max times down there!). I was also inspired by this bit of artwork:

Thanks man! Also yeah, it always bothered me that Thunder Hammers basically just looked like big mallets, so I decided to model them on the much more functionally awesome warhammers of human antiquity.

Thanks Kage! Your Crimson Sons Praetor was the inspiration for the haft, never would have thought to use the cable maker that way without your example. As far as the Plasma Blaster goes, I decided to call it a "Belicossa Pattern". Basically it was an effort to reduce external power feeds that could get hung up in boarding operations and the cumbersome reload time of the screw-in cannisters seen on most plasma weaponry. Basically it works like a traditional magazine fed weapon, but instead of firing projectiles, each round is a single-use power cell that is ejected immediately after firing allowing for a greater fire-rate and increased reload speed, albeit at the cost of being more prone to overheating.

Those Terminators are awful, just awful. So bad infact that im willing to take them off your hands for free. Especially the one with the hammer.

Thanks BrotherJim! As far as the Night Lords go, I haven't made a showcase for them yet, I plan on revisiting them down the road and adding a few more units. I'll probably cobble together a thread after I'm done with that.
