Conn Eremon
Recently, I've been thinking of about a DIY Inquisitorial Cohort, inspired by Dark Apostle Thirst's rather entertaining stuff. I have a barebones idea for my own, but I was curious to see what others in this subforum might have of their own. I wondered how in-depth my vigilant brothers and sisters might have gone in crafting lore for their bands. So this thread really isn't just for me to introduce what I have been thinking about myself, but to get a feel for what you guys are thinking about. If you were making an article, like the Indices Astartes but potentially in a very different format, what would you expect to see? What would you want to see? How different is everyone's view of the Inquisitors and the Inquisition? Where does everyone's resemble the others? That sort of thing would be great to see to help me build up the lore of my own, and could help others as well. Anyway, with that out of the way, here's what I've been thinking of: The Inquisitors Von Wulfenwald Inquisitor Ordin Furst von Wulfenwald and Inquisitor Astrid Furstin von Wulfenwald, of the Ordo Hereticus. This pair had plagued the seedy underbelly of Sector Tenelux for nearly half a century when working separately, as lone wolves unleashed upon the wholly unsuspecting. The warships and immense archives kept by Inquisitor Ordin were powerful tools in his hands, the man's careful planning and knowledge-base serving him well in keeping the upper hand and earning him the title of the Brother of the Watch. The Huntress earned her own name much more quickly, using her connections higher up the Inquisitorial chain of command to earn herself a place at the trigger of Exterminatus. To her, a world must suffer greatly for innocence to return, and corruption can only be rid of by war. And so when the two had wed, marrying their resources together, life in the Sector had reached a boiling point. No long-standing cult or conspiracy could stand against the two working alongside each other, and they were uprooted and hung one after the other. Though Ordin moderated the extreme puritanism of Astrid, still many worlds felt the toxic lash of Exterminatus flick upon them ever-lasting scars, where the worlds were not burned down whole. But as it is always so, and Inquisitor Ordin had expressed this very sentiment on occasion, for every force enacted there must be an equal or greater reaction. When this reaction revealed itself, it rose like a leviathan from the deep, sweeping aside all before it like mere flotsam. Its very gaze, even from so far away, burned the sensitive mind of Inquisitor Ordin, whittling the unconquerable pair to an unprotected one without even initiating a preliminary attack. Despite the misgivings of Lord-Proctor Linus Feld of the Ordo Malleus, the Huntress would vent her wrath through the devastation of an entire sub-sector. But no matter the sheer material power that she would unleash upon this enemy of her mind, still she would only ever hear his laughter. Father Mehman
Bravo, Conn. Bravo ! Thoroughly enjoyed that, Brother! I guess I could throw my hat in and take a shot. This website makes me feel comfortable enough to share some of my backstory (as the AM IG forum will attest). Funnily enough, my Inquisitors are also wed ! Well, let's get to it! The Inquisitors Steinar and Genevieve Hodson, Ordo Hereticus and Ordo Xenos respectively. Their meeting was chance and their bond instantly strong upon one of the blasted Black Ships. But, Dear Reader, who has time for beginnings and the past when the present is hot and full of death? Picture it, if you will, a planet in the Triedes Sector, Pacificus Segmentae; the planet’s original name lost to the aeons. There is where you will find the Inquisitors busy about their work, acolytes, Scions, etc all waiting for the word to infiltrate; sanctioned with extreme prejudice. Stood upon an outcropping a few metres into a small mountain path, Inquisitor Hodson, Ordo Hereticus, surveyed an unmarked building in what looked like a field of war-time detritus. Fyceline fumes and smoke from fires still burning hid much of the destruction but the Inquisitor was certain- the heretics still lived. Hodson returned to his retinue with a look a rapturous joy and his wife, Genevieve, Ordo Xenos, instantly put her hand over her mouth to hide her own joy. Still smitten after all these years... Steinar began his speech and it included his thoughts to the whereabouts of the oily, sleazy cultists. When he was finished, his topmost advisors came to him and they began their normal group “think-tank” of sorts. Genevieve knew what they were playing at, those men with their plans made with sticks and sand- they were stalling for time. Each platitude made towards the Inquisitor’s great courage or foresight bought them long soliloquies and time for his wife to find the truth of the matter. Minutes later, the skirted Inquisitor cleared her throat and placed her hand on her husband’s shoulder. Genevieve whispered in Steinar’s ear and the two crept towards another part of the outcropping, allowing indigenous brush to mask their forms. Their interests piqued, the retinue followed their Inquisitor and waited for orders. Hodson got onto his haunches and explained that his last point of interest had actually been bombarded by the Astra Militarum’s artillery just as they were climbing the mountain path to their present position. He then pointed to a non de script building to the north and proclaimed that was the building of choice. His wife then gently moved his arm clockwise to show the actual target: a strongpoint in the heart of a once-city flying a flag to the dark god Slaanesh. A nodding of heads and other assertions met his steely gaze. They had their target and no thanks to anyone but Steinar Hodson, Ordo Hereticus. Well, and Genevieve Hodson, Ordo Xenos. Conn Eremon
Nicely done, Mehman. You know, a couple of the Inquisitors done in the Liber Cluster were married too, I think. Perhaps that idea is a rather common one. :D Ah well. Anyone else got tales to tell?
