The Pounder
Celestine looks great! Funnily enough I painted mine blue and gold. Nicodemus Doloroso
Looks great, Lord Commissar. I really like the blue, unique and striking. WarriorFish
Thanks comrades! It took me enough years to settle on a colour scheme but better late than never It's a bronze rather than gold, that's on the sword hilt :) I wanted something a little different to the usual gold I'd go for, and a bronze is similar and I think being less "yellow" works better with the blue I have :) The Pounder and duz_ 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304937-the-lord-commissar-paints/page/21/#findComment-5329902 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Celestine is finished Now I can focus on the Stormies, I hope to get them finished this month all going well ready for a follow up vow Nicodemus Doloroso, The Ergonomic Enginseer, Arkaniss and 5 others 8 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304937-the-lord-commissar-paints/page/21/#findComment-5331822 Share on other sites
Banjohero
Wow such a cool model! Love the blue armor with the red cloak! duz_
Cloak looks great! WarriorFish
Thanks comrades! :D The colours work really nicely, and strangely it didn't take too long to settle on the scheme either - which is very unusual for me Perhaps the Emperor's hand was present... It's not too hard to paint which is the cherry on top, though perhaps it feels that way as I'm more used to painting halved power armour these days but I shouldn't get too distracted as I have plenty of Stormies who need paint duz_ 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304937-the-lord-commissar-paints/page/21/#findComment-5331869 Share on other sites
Expendable_Aquanaut
Celestine looks great! I especially like the helmet on the side of the base. Like she threw it off or something. I'm excited to see the stormies painted up. I think they might be some of my favorite models. WarriorFish
Getting there slowly, the base coats are about done: Once I get to the wash stage they'll start coming together :) Expendable_Aquanaut, duz_ and Arkaniss 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304937-the-lord-commissar-paints/page/21/#findComment-5332308 Share on other sites

Nicodemus Doloroso
Celestine looks great. Looking back at your pics from page one of this thread, your painting has come a long way over the last 20 years! WarriorFish
Thanks Nico, it's about 25 years now  I still look at that Russ from time to time, but the scale of the work is putting me off. I think I'll save it for when I've cleared the Stormies off my list as that will be a good point of progress on the (Guard) backlog. The tank must be Toughness 10 with the paint :P duz_ 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304937-the-lord-commissar-paints/page/21/#findComment-5333402 Share on other sites
Nicodemus Doloroso
This year is exactly 20 years of GW games for me, although I think it wasn't until late 2000/early 2001 that I started into 40K. I don't have any of my original models around anymore, but there's massive difference between those and my current projects. WarriorFish
As long as you're always improving that's what counts :) Of course the new fangled paints and such help a lot too - washes in particular :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304937-the-lord-commissar-paints/page/21/#findComment-5333906 Share on other sites
Expendable_Aquanaut
Discovering washes was a lifesaver... also, I'm excited to see the stormies finished up. I've always wanted to do some inquisitorial themed ones. This might inspire me... because what I need is more guard projects... WarriorFish
They're better than the previous ones, and miles better than the old inks for coverage - liquid talent indeed :P My Guard have a strong link to the Inquisition (as do all my loyalist armies), so the Stormies straddle the line between Guard and Inquisition so the red works neatly there (aside from being the Inquisitor Lord's personal colour). You're right in that you need more Guard projects ;) Stormies would be a great addition and let you play with your theme in different ways :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304937-the-lord-commissar-paints/page/21/#findComment-5334956 Share on other sites

WarriorFish
Solid progress has been made, they're almost to the finish line Plasma worked out quite well in the end but I can improve on it next time, I'll know to pay close attention to the gap to ensure it's smoother. It's good to start getting my Stormies together finally, but there's still plenty more to come! robofish7591, Expendable_Aquanaut, duz_ and 1 other 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304937-the-lord-commissar-paints/page/21/#findComment-5346603 Share on other sites
duz_
Looks great I found a trick with trying to line up the power cables: Big bulldog clips manage to hold them in place fairly well and if you use plastic glue it went get stuck :tu: WarriorFish 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304937-the-lord-commissar-paints/page/21/#findComment-5346615 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Stormies finished, looking forward to getting them on the table!
