Hi guys,

After lurking for Emperor knows how long, I decided to start posting my work here. Since I have been playing and collecting Ultramarines for 20+ years this is what you will mostly see here.

So without further delay:

WIP venerable dreadnought

Need to finish the base and highlight the blues all around.

Arms are magnetised of course.

Bonus pics of my librarian, counts as Tigurius as the current model is not so awesome...

Last bit for tonight. Any guesses to what this is going to be?

And as a true Ultramarine, I always drink from this...

Good night everyone!

hahahah Kongou, I had it made recently. I just love this mug.

@Pearson73. Thanks for the welcome. I hope I will have enough willpower to go through with this blog...

@Kriegsmacht. Thanks for the vote of confidence but these eyes need more work. I just have limited time and I need to call them done for a while or I will never truely finish a model.

People around here know me for sloooooow painting...

For today I still work on that large oval base. It is going to be used for my knight Errant/paladine with magnetised weapons of course but progress is slow so no pictures at the moment.

I am also constantly working or some older miniatures and refreshing them or bringing to higher standard (which is not so high really, just nice tabletop quality) so pictures of such minis will pop up here and there in between updates.

Question for everyone: Are the pictures' sizes ok, or do they need resizing to something smaller?

Hi guys!

Some more progress on the dreadnought and the knight today. I highlighted the blues all around  and completed the base of the knight.

All the necessary pinning is done. Since cork will probably not hold the knight with a strong bond, I decided to do some heavy pinning to carry the load.

I hope the blues look fine. The dreadnought's colours are complete I think. Now I need to freehand battle honours and markings.

I really am afraid of doing any weathering and colour damage on him so until I get more confident I will have to leave waethering out.

EDIT: Typos

Hi again! Another update for the knight.

As I promised, both weapons will be magnetised.

More to follow!

EDIT:

Any ideas on what to do with the 4 right arms of the dreadnought? I want to do some easy free hand like this,

but I want to have something different on each hand.

Has anyone done anything similar?

More progress on the dreadnought arms.

I still do not know what to do with the assault cannon. Maybe some kind of meander?

I hope you like him.

For the moment I have left the knight on the side. He needs a nice black undercoat and I must take out the airbrush for him.

Until then I have started work on a couple of bikes. It is going to be a 5 man unit with 2 plasma guns and a combi-plasma on the sergeant. Why no grav? Well because the models where done and left on the self before grav guns where a thing... But I learned now, magnets on bikers even just to be on the safe side!

Of course comments are welcomed.

Hey guys thanks for the comments.

On the matter of the colour of the knight I have absolutely no idea. I quite like blue and gold (no kidding and you paint Ultramarines?) so house Terryn is one choice.

I also wanted to try something different like yellow and black as this is a fantastic opportunity to leave blue and gold if only for a single model, so house Hawkshroud?

I don't know, maybe even (wow careful there extreme idea incoming!!!) house Griffith. The only thing that is certain is that there will be markings somewhere proclaiming the allegiance to Ultramar.

Hi people,

This week has been slow due to having both of my ladies (wife and daughter) ill. Since I am taking care of them painting is not progressing as fast.

At the moment I am working on the 2 bikes with the plasmaguns. Basic colours are almost done as well as shading.

Since my daughter felt better today we decided to take some pics of my army, only fully painted or acceptably painted minis to see what I have after all these years.

Not a lot as it seems...

The army is in various levels of painting from 2nd edition till today. I have started to update some models but then I do not make progress on new models so there's that!

So... Mitsman's army.

I have not added up the points but I am going to do it these days as I never asked myself how many painted points I had.

I hope you like what you see!

Is that a Master of the Relics with a beakie head in front of your drop pod?

Great stuff, love the army as a whole - very retro looking if you like with the green grass, trees and all time UM blue.  The integration of the newer models with the older ones seems very seamless :)

Thanks for the good words guys.

@infyrama. Yeap you got it. He is the master of relics with a beakie helmet and a scanner on the left hand. I just love this model and the slight conversion.

@Kriegsmacht. Yes, the markings on both the new rhinos are all freehand.

Some more info on the army:

The drop pod with the round base was made of paper and plasticard before the plastic drop pod was released.

The Damocles command rhino was my first attempt ever to paint a model with an airbrush. Well the blue is with the airbrush and the rest with brush. The XIII marking is custom made.

The plastic drop pod is my first attempt to do any kind of weathering. I messed up a bit on the other sides but I think the photo side is nice.

The veteran with the chain halberd is an custom made honour guard but also serves as another bolter veteran if I need one.

All three new rhinos, the 2 mormal ones and the damocles, can change into razorback and/or predator with magnets.

The second tallon needs more paint... :unsure.:

Back again with more goodies.

First some wip of the bikes I spoke about. Both have plasma guns to accompany the sergeant with his combi-plasma for some serious firepower.

And now the finalised models. The sergeant was done earlier this year but I finished his base and some freehand now with the other 2.

Snazzy!  Are those White Scars Bike Squadron bits?

Hi Vel, which bits do you mean? The bags and boxes? These are partly metal parts from oooooold bikes and partly plastic bits found in the ravenwing boxset. The sergeant's wings are the old metal wings from the chaplain bike when you could do bits orders from GW :biggrin.:.
