Slips
Hmmm It looks like a pretty normal Off-White to me. You could try mixing some Brown or Sepia wash in small quantities into white? Hopefully its a bit less finicky then the ceramite white Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307780-the-xiii-legion-ultramarines/page/9/#findComment-4153007 Share on other sites
DuskRaider
It's the base color I use for my Death Guard, built up to Pallid Wych Flesh (then chipped to hell and back). Remus Ventanus.
One more almost done. I need to do one more touch up with blue, and highlight the rest of the legs with silver. Remus Ventanus.
Going to try and make a marble effect on that, not sure how it's going to go though. Dantay VI
The marine is going to be a big obstacle to that, are ou going to remove him from the base before painting? Dantay VI
Thats good, it'll look pretty impressive as marble. I took the lazy way out & did mine as green painted concrete. Remus Ventanus.
Still looks good! I chose marble to eventually match GUILLIMANS base, which I plan to make battle damaged. I'll be using the recipe Judd provided to me on his thread, because his looked ace. Remus Ventanus.
Anybody know where if FW makes that helm on the left? http://www.belloflostsouls.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/blogger-image-436704006.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307780-the-xiii-legion-ultramarines/page/9/#findComment-4159318 Share on other sites
Remus Ventanus.
A slight little update. Im trying to make an eikos lamiad model until he actually gets a model. I used the SM captain model with a different head. I want to cut that combi boltgun arm off sinse he lost his arm in the battle of calth, but we will see how it goes. He is still very much a WIP. Oh and the hair....dont ask I also added a plume to the lieutenant. Remus Ventanus.
My attempt at mud on the feet is a tad strong, will have to brush some blue over it. Ishagu
Definitely too strong. If you want a simple yet effective mud onto armour, simply buy some Agrax Earthshade wash, and apply it around the feet of the models :-) Also, shake well before use and apply by dabbing on the appropriate area. SkimaskMohawk
You could also try Stirland mud for basing and just get it on the feet and uh, bell bottoms of the armour. Looks like mud Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307780-the-xiii-legion-ultramarines/page/9/#findComment-4185004 Share on other sites
Remus Ventanus.
Ok thanks man. I like the color I acbieved I just went way overboard on it. But I'll give one of your suggestions a shot, as it likely would be better and easier Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307780-the-xiii-legion-ultramarines/page/9/#findComment-4185008 Share on other sites
Ishagu
Well, the Mud can make basing quick and fast, and it can look ok if some of the granules are highlighted in a lighter colour. Alternatively you can use sand and pva to create the earth effect on bases. Aa for creating muddy armour, a wash is the easiest way imo, just don't go overboard :-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307780-the-xiii-legion-ultramarines/page/9/#findComment-4185010 Share on other sites
Remus Ventanus.
Ah ok. I should point out the picture does make it look twice as thick as it is Irl, but still to think for my taste. Also, I made my first attempt using greenstuff. I made lamiad a half porcelain face and then green stuffed his arm to make a leather glove Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307780-the-xiii-legion-ultramarines/page/9/#findComment-4185015 Share on other sites
Relict
Use FW weathering powder to dirty the boots and greaves. I typically dust them lightly to produce the effect that the legionary has been marching for some time. You can also try adding some white spirit to create a muddy effect.
