Dang, so much for that idea. I thought it'd make for a cool story of this orphaned Astartes awakening in a Galaxy utterly unrecognisable as the one he remembered, the last of his forgotten kind and surrounded by strangers with ulterior motives.

Sangi, your idea reminds me a bit of Futurama. ^^

1k years later, a lone Astartes awoke to find the galaxy at war against itself. With the help of his new friends:

- a renegade navigator, who now works as a mercenary, name: Elyla

- a mad tech adept, who tried to become immortal by consuming the blood of younglings, name: F4RN-S-W0RTH-2.0

- a sole, strange xenos construct who is constantly heralding the end of all things and enjoys every illegal activity, name: The Allbender

he tries to survive the struggle of the eternal war.

:tongue.:

I figure a few of these caskets would be conserved on Strela or Jin (whichever becomes the Suzerainty's capital, I'm inclined to say the latter, as it's rather isolated galactographically, and allows for a Razing of Strela).

I've thought a little more about Icarion's downfall. Perhaps Alex engages him after he cripples the Emperor and uses a telepathic link to reach whatever's left of his brother (even as Icarion has run him through and carved his chest open... the image came to me, so I had a go at writing it down and it just got heavier). That, coupled with Alex's death, cuts through and breaks Icarion's spirit completely, so he implores the Emperor to soul wipe him because he knows what the alternative is.

Child of Vengeance features a lot of seppuku, so that imagery's been on my mind a lot.

Gentlemen, congratulations are in order! For it was this day, one year ago, that this thread and the project began in earnest. I'm not sure what the typical lifespan of a fan project, but I am enhearten that not only are most of the original crew still making appearances, but we have slowly grown with new additions, like Meros and Drak. Since outlining our goals last October, Book 1: Insurrection has steadily taken shape as we have completed the first two chapters and our first legion, with another one on the verge of completion.

On this day, I would also like to take care of two administrative matters.

The first is addressed to BotL members who managed two legions. Some of us have found the task to be daunting and spreading thin our creative juices. So, to these members I ask, does any of you wish to relinquish control of one of your legions? I will be the first to say that though I am found of the Jade General and the Warriors of Peace, I simply do not have the time to properly attend them between them, the Halcyon Wardens, and the project itself.

As such, I officially offer mastery of the XVIIth Legion to anyone else who desires so, on the condition that they build upon the foundation I've established.

The second task concerns the Ghost Walkers. I have spoken privately with Depthcharge, and he agrees that his enthusiasm for BotL has long since waned. He has happily agreed to stand aside to allow someone else far more invested in the project to take the slot of the XXth Legion.

As such, the Ghost Walkers are being removed from our canon as of this day. We've already have had several requests throughout the year for a new legion addition, but before we share that information to the 40k world, I want to ask the members here: does anyone want this open slot?

Again, congratulations to us, Brothers of the Lost. I hope by this time next year, we are well into Book 2!

I suggest kelborn as he is a very active member even as he came too late for a legion slot, so give him the place of the ghost walkers. I am sure that he will create something which make us proud.

If Kelborn doesn't want, I suggest the observer with this project

http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/322490-beneath-terra-inquisimunda-the-xith-legion/

But as Kelborn is more invested.into the.project, he has my vote. And my sword.and my axe. And my bow

And chakka. And of course my help and support

The Botl is living

Pride for the Brotherhood's birthday. As for the Ghost Walkers being lost, it breaks something, but I'll admit it doesn't really surprise me. Regarding leaving responsibility of a legion, once I get Yucahu's new fluff done I'm not averse to giving the IV to Bluntblade. A new XX legion must be found, and history must be remade anew to fit Coch'ise neverbeing and the existence of a new Twentieth...

What about… Mihran the Paladin, father of the Dawn Bringers, lord of the XX who should have been lord of the IV, whose sons should have been those of the Sumakutaa? Not entirely convinced by the idea, but having primarchs whose legions have been accidentally switched can be a nice thing to play with.

So, you tell me, there is place for a WHOLE new legion?

Yes. Right now, the XXth is a blank slate. For the next day, we will hear requests from within this group and, if the slot remains open (which I doubt at this point), then we'll expand the invitation to B&C.

At least that doesn't give us too much to alter, except for one exemplary battle with the Scions.

I have to confess I'm not sure I'm the right person to take on steering a Legion completely (seeing as I don't have a grounding in the game side of things), but I'm happy to help develop fluff as I've done elsewhere on the project. Helping to create fluffy elites for the Dune Serpents was really interesting, so I'd gladly take on that challenge elsewhere.

I have a framework for a Legion if needed, short version is their world refused to reject Catholocism, and are psyker (miracles, yaaay) oriented. Basically the opposite to the 'serkers.

Happy birthday to the BotL!

If Kelborn doesn't want the XXth I would be both happy and eager to offer the services of one of my two "spare"/"side prohect" lost legions, the Black Guard and the Undying Sons, whichever the group would prefer. Both have all the basic framework and a fair bit of their fluff written but they aren't so far down the line that converting them to this 'verse would be difficult.

And congratulations to everyone who's made it this far and to the founding father(Simison) for steering us this far and to the Sanguinius, Kelborn and blunt for keeping the worst of the marysuing in check.

Well darn no more Ghost Walkers.

And i wrote such a good story anout Niklaas murdering a bunch of them. And i had invisioned a scene where he goes all World War Hulk on Cochise. Oh well.

I think we should take applications and have a vote on who gets to fill the spot.

Doesnt really matter who it will be... Theyll be nothing left but

ASH AND DUST!

The undying sons sound interesting, mind telling about em?

The Undying Sons are a legion who(like the Alpha Legion) have twin primarchs, Alhur and Mazad(which is a bastardised variant of Ahura Mazda). However, unlike the AL they are quite open about the fact. Both of their primarch's are pyskers and were tutored by Magnus when discovered. The world they grew up on, Media, is a world where the veil between the warp and reality is thin. The culture they're based off is the Persian empire, especially the Zoroastrian and Mithraic religions. The legion itself specialises in fighting pyskers(fighy fire with fire) and deamons although they also fight more conventional battles. As a consequence of this specialization and due to the custom of their homeworld, for each compliance a warrior takes part in, he adds a new name to his own name and upon joining the legion adopts a new name for usage so that no one except him knows his actual name. In canonverse the legion fell because they saw the fall of the Imperium and a gradual victory of Chaos caused by Lorgar and Mortarion so they attacked those two in an attempt to stop that from happening. However, they failed and retreated to Media, dropping the world's defences and allowing Russ and co. to virus bomb them into oblivion, as they had failed and further bloodshed would only weaken the Imperium more.

By contrast, the Black Guard are a legion who give zero :cusss about "civilians" and when a civilization chooses not to surrender they go to war with the entire civilization and treat them all as enemies, not stopping killing them until they either surrender unconditionally or they're all wiped out. They have a particular specialism in attritional and biological and chemical warfare. Around 2% of them become pariahs following implantation and these pariahs, while effective, eventually get killed by their bodies and minds consuming themselves as they try and control their powers. They also have a sideline in searching for ways to make themselves the biggest, toughest mofos around by melding their gene-seed with that of other legions and new chemicals etc. Their homeworld is a former penal world which is utter hell. Their primarch believes completely in the purity of humanity but believes pyskers are degenerate witches and hates beaurocrats.

Hmm. But with the ghost walkers we lose a real chaos legion. Didn't they end up as tzeentch worshippers? If the new legion is on the suzeraintiys side, the insurrectionistd are heavily weakened.

To ne honest I am against a vote here. Let simison decide. Sometimes democracy leads to awful results "brexit", "trumpageddon". He knows best which legion would fit. If we vote cause we find a legion cool and then the legionuser jumps out again, we would have a problem as we are the next time deeper in the storyline and the legion more tied in than the ghost walkers were at any moment. And as you can see on niklaas response even that meant some work to be lost.

So what now? I would say no two legions anymore except for those we already have.even someone as creative as simison has to admit thst 2 are to much. And what I read skalpynok too thinks on leaving the void eagles in other hands (good he will wants to do the dawn bearers).

So what now? First come those on the project who work on it but haven't had the change to make a legion. Lord Thorn, SanguiniusReborn, Kelborn, Bluntblade, Meros and Drakzilla spring to my mind. If those guus don't want the job, we should ask in the bnc. The observer, Mrunoriginal, Xerxes( don't know if it was his name), wolfpack and this cool plant alien primarch guy spring to my mind.

Edit: But damn, I like your concept for the undying sons Sigi^^. You should mix elements of both togheter as we already have 4 pariah legions but the we kill everything mentality of the blackguard is cool. A psychic legion who kills everythin would be something cool. Exploding heads everywhere. Think of the possibilities when they fall to tzeentch.
