They probably have a meeting whenever the squad is sent from each chapter.

The meeting wouldn't be mandatory (though encouraged), because as the chapters became extinct, nothing was really done about it until they were finally FORCED to. (Then again, maybe the squad from the wiped out chapter just stayed there, so they represented their dead chapter from that point on?).

But beyond that, I'm sure that the squads and the primary command staff (like the Sanguinary Priest, Chaplain, and Librarian), along with the Sergeants from each squad would have their own meetings, where they would elect one of their number to act as the leader.

Also, the ten that each chapter sends don't have to go all at one time. They could just send a guy whenever a few die, or rotate people out over time. So maybe it isn't even a squad, just ten selected space marines that go and form a squad.

Either way, it would make sense for the chapters to maintain some form of communication.

I had wondered about that. It'd depend on the circumstances, I think. Maybe the parent Chapter recalls the squad for some reason before they're all wiped out or disbanded, or maybe the squad vows to live and die as the last of their kind doing their duty. If the latter is the case, I suspect some sort of memorial would end up getting erected for them at some point (or I'd hope so - I like the idea of it).

Yeah, I see more of a rotation, but since we're meaning to leave it relatively free, each participating chapter might have their own methods.

I also like the idea of a kind of memorial, a bit like the Legio's death shields

Hey Thorn Massive thanks for whipping up the shoulder pad for me. You have some serious talent with Inkscape (whatever that is :3). I also like the idea of the memorial kind of thing (thinking maybe a shrine erected on a world guarded by a battle brother or two, World Engine style)

Here's the cliff notes for the Silver Sons:

  • Primarch................. Sanguinius
  • Founding Chapter... Red Sentinels
  • Founding................. 14th
  • Homeworld.............. N/a (Fleet based)
  • Organization............ Codex adherent (except Death Company)
  • Grail Wardens.......... Third generation Grail Wardens member, contributes one squad.
  • Crusade Forces....... Fifth company plus two eighth company squads, three storm talons, three storm ravens and ten razorbacks. Battle Barge Deliverer and escorts also attending.

That is what I intended with my previous proposal regarding the main situation.

In this specific temple there could be a shrine or something like that to honor the fallen librarians, etc. A huge temple including graves of the fallen brothers, who gave their lives while defending the rift. Their bodies and blood make the temple a holy ground, weakening the forces of chaos.

Thorn (I don't know how to do the "o" correctly, sry): those look incredible. If you have the time could you do one for my Dark Knights chapter? That would be awesome! Something reminiscent of their chapter badge (the dragon)?

as well as writing are own stuff about the events, are we going to write any campaigns were all the members fight alongside each other (and everyone writes 1 "chapter" in the campaign or something like that) becuase i feel that would be very fun

I agree, but that raises an interesting question. Have our chapters ever fought together? Obviously during the Red Crusade, but sicne then and since the loss of the Grail? And if we have, have we ever all come together for another great campaign? I'm thinking we might have done during the Battle of whatever-the-planet-with-the rift-on-is-called, but I don't know about since then.

im cool with nothing happening since then until maybe some recent occurrence as the Archangels are isolationists that have only recently come out of thier isolation. But even then we can either write about their original battles together or maybe something has happened. Like for whatever reason they belive the grail is is some sector or whatever and alert the other chapters. obliviously they dont find the grail, but they do find Chaos/Xeno etc

Woo, I spend half a day away from the computer... ^^

First off, don't worry about the ø, I really don't mind :smile.: (If you absolutely want to, in windows its Alt+155)

You're welcome for the shoulder pad. Inkscape is a freeware vector image creation software.

I'm sorry, I haven't read up on the World Engine, so I'm having trouble seeing that in my head.

Sorry Olis, I'm not sure: how are the Silver Sons going to integrate into the project ? Is their fall going to be linked to the Grail, or are they just a "regular" Grail Warden chapter, but fall independently from the rest ?

I like this idea for the shrine, actually being linked to the temple-keep and helping in the protection (even if it isn't true, the Grail Wardens might believe it)

I can give the Dark Knights' badge a try, but I'm generally unwilling to take requests, especially outside of projects.

This might be possible, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. I'd recommend we get the general outline ready, then write one story each. We can then think about doing a big big campaign or something with several people taking part at the same time, but that's some distance down the line.

Most of the chapters weren't part of the red crusade. That was when the relic was created and the wardens were made.

The relic being lost is when most of the chapters come into play

^ pretty much this, but the successors can probably still send squads to the Grail Wardens before it's stolen ?

I think it might be a good idea to decide what dates the Red Crusade and the theft of the Grail happen at. This will help us have a few clearer ideas.

Also, are EesiOh's Archangels going to take part in the Red Crusade ? Or are they going to descend from one of the more veteran chapters ?

They're just here to make up numbers - they won't be protagonists. They're a regular Warden Chapter, much akin to the Red Sentinels and the Crimson Host. They'll become extinct of their own accord, independent of what happens in this thread.

There are many possibilities concerning this temple. :)

The whole planet could be covered with several shrines or something like that to prevent the spreading of chaos.

But to be true, they don't help very much. Their are still mutants and heretics lurking in the shadows of the temple. What about some mutants, former servants of the original chapter, who still lurk inside the depths of our temple? By now, they were no threat for the wardens but with the recent events, they start to attack them. Hearing the call from inside the rift, they try to do everything the voices tell them.

Does some of you know the game Until Dawn? The wendigos could be a good pattern for those mutants.

Thorn, you don't have to. I didn't knew that you only create those for projects, etc. It's ok. :)

I like the idea of the fallen temple, besieged on all sides by Chaos yet still guarded faithfully by the last of the Wardens. Cool stuff.

If we want to name this planet, we could call it Golgotha. It's the naame of the place where Jesus was crucified, and thus would have some ties, perhaps, to the sacrifice of those who died to keep the rift closed. It's the name of the planet that Avalon orbits at the minute, but I think this would be far more worthy of it. I only picked it originally because it sounded cool, here it would have some relevance. It sounds fairly ominous as well.

And do we have a date for the Crusade and the loss of the Grail yet?

Edited by Sir Perfluous

Alright, so this is what I've got so far:

The Carmine Cardinals, the Knights Resplendant, the Crimson Knights, and the Sanguinary Crusaders all took part of what becomes known as the Red Crusade.

During the crusade, they fought back the tides of chaos to the world of Golgotha. During this battle, a rift opened. This would doom the entire campaign, and so Librarians of the chapters got together and put their essence (or whatever), into an object (it can already be shaped as a grail, or the grail can be made around it). The grail would have to be constantly protected, because if it leaves the world, it's power fades and the rift reopens. However, Golgotha is heavily corrupted. Chaos mutants, mutated wildlife, left over cultists, and warbands constantly attack the temple where the grail was stored. So the four chapters swore a pact (adding their blood to the grail [unless the blood was the blood of the Librarians?]). So long as all four chapters lived, they would send men to guard the grail. So were born the Grail Wardens.

Centuries later (or a thousand years later, which would be better?), two of the chapters had stopped providing men. Reasons aren't really known to the other chapters (but maybe the men at the temple know. I mean they would still have men there until they died or returned).

At first this wasn't seen as an issue, as the forces of chaos had been kept at bay.

But eventually, all communication from the Temple had ceased. The last communication said that there was an unknown traitor in their midst, and that they needed more men urgently. The enemy had strengthened.

The chapters that still existed sent a force to examine the situation while they gathered to hold council (all that were left). They had decided to find the chapters sired by the missing ones, that their blood was still bound by the oath. They sent out to get them.

Meanwhile, the task force sent to Golgotha arrived to find the place ransacked by mutants and horrors (not the daemons of Tzeentch, but like horrible things). They reported back that replacements were no longer enough. The grail was gone, and the planet was lost. A fully fledged crusading force would be necessary. They put it forth with the utmost urgency, for the rift had not yet reopened, but would soon. If it did, the sector would be lost once more. They also found one survivor. A member of the Knights Resplendent. (This whole part, in my head, is dark and eerie like a horror movie... with space marines).

At the same time, the Black Hands warband and several other cultist armies and warbands attacked the whole of the sector. The rift slowly began opening again, and more worlds were lost.

And now we are where we are. The new chapters have been brought in (Sir Perfs, the Crimson Host, the Red Sentinels, the Silver Sons). The original chapters that survived are also gathering their forces.

Phase One: Gathering

Phase Two: Securing the System.

Phase Three: The retaking of Golgotha (maybe the task force sent died, or maybe they left, either way, a good place to start a quest would be to start where the events began). (Or even, the original task force sent reclaims the temple and has to hold it with the one survivor (who might be one of the traitors, or one that remained loyal from the chapter) and the retaking of Golgotha is what saved them.

Phase Four: TBD

the Silver Sons (unless you wanted them to be added later?)

They're not part of the original group, definitely so considering they're descendants of the Red Sentinels. The Silver Sons are a part of the later grouping of Grail Wardens.

Fixed.

What about the rest?
