Kalrath
Thanks mates. Glad to have you aboard! For short, yes, it's 40mm square base. The Design's based on the original conversion from WD117 (pgs 40 & 41) https://www.games-workshop.c...White-Dwarf-117 In the back I took a few liberties. I didn't like the original model. hushrong
Your Ultramarines look fantastic! Love the paint jobs you have given them and love how you have the old WD for inspiration. I love looking through those whenever I get the chance. And thanks to your avatar picture I read all of your comments in the Captain's voice. Kalrath
Make it so! Here is a WiP shot of the Land Raider Next step will be metals. At this stage, without the metals, I'm not too sold on the black of the lascannons sponsons. What do you guys think? hushrong
Make it so! Perfection. The land raider is looking sweet! It has the great paintjob you've been giving your army and it is awesome to see a classic mini get some TLC. The black on the sponson is good. I think it is a nice way to break up so much blue on a larger tank. Bjorn Firewalker
Your work on the Land Raider MK1 is good, but DAMN is the thing TINY! And it's expected to carry ten Marines or five Terminators? Augustus b'Raass
Very cool. Excellent work on the conversion too - you wouldn't be able to tell at first glance. Razblood
Beautiful, just beautiful. One niggle however, the broken track on the back of the LR stands out quite a bit, did you consider doing a repair or just leave it as damage? Kalrath
Hadn't visited for a while, so hadn't seen your comment... Thanks! Yeah, it stands out a bit, but in the end I decided to keep it as was, and preserve a little of the story behind this particular model. When I got it, it was in a really bad shape, glued with HUH all purpose glue (or similar), some parts had been melted and deformed, and it had a quite thick coat of paint on it. This guy was Dark Angel's green, but when I started striping it, I found out that in previous lives, it had been in service of the Blood Angles, and prior to that, Space Wolves!! He now will live on as a Venerable Ultramarines Mk1.5 Land Raider Proteus Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/313765-old-dogs-new-tricks-space-hulk/page/9/#findComment-5039561 Share on other sites
Augustus b'Raass
Wow - all four original Codex chapters have had this Land Raider. But you didn't answer Razblood's question! Kalrath
Indeed! I did consider repairing it but in the end, decided to leave it as damage and thus preserving a little of its history. I know... I'm gettin' sappy... and old.. er! Kalrath
Taking this Blog in another direction now. With my Deathwatch army in the pipeline, I want my vehicles unique, with a more high-tech look than the current Rhino. I had the idea of using Clouseau’s Rhino from 15 years ago, but it’s wasn’t quite what I wanted, so decided to design one based on his model, but incorporating some aspect of the current one and also some other models. The goal you ask? Resin Printing! No to save on money, but to have something different. Even made the hatch holes compatible with existing bits: And here it is with a coat of primer: The turret and the tracks are not of my design, but looked different enough from the current model, so I decided to modify them to fit my design. Detail of the door. Redrawn from the Blackstar: Before going any further with this guy, there are a few other things in the works. I my mind, fliers dot really fit 40k scale games, so, I'm redesigning a Corvus to make it a Skimmer! Kalrath
Can I post filthy xenos here? I remember back in the day this was a space marines only forum. Has that changed? I've been painting my Eldar and thought I'd share them here. Yay or nay? Kalrath
Well! in that case! Here's what's just off the painting table: Next up will be the Autarch, Farseer and Warlock, all riding the old bikes Still need to figure how I can take better pics with the mobile... Might have to change the background. I don't think I used to have this issue with theUltras..
