Not to hijack the thread, but do you have any experience with those, Liberame? Ordered soome consecrator ones and wouldnt mind knowing whether to get excited or skeptical :)

Ohh now those do look nice! I'd be interested to know how you get on with this vendor, if the experience is good they may well be getting some of my hard earned cash...

In other news I managed to squeeze a few hours painting in over the last few days and got this

With him done that's Squad Gorgonzola finished (sort of they will be getting a drop pod but I'm holding fire on that till the ETL kicks off)

As ever I welcome any comments, suggestions or questions.

I am wondering how good the 3D print will be. I will definitely try to come back here with results of the Consecrator ones.

On topic - the doods look absolutely awesome PP! Question regarding the decals, do you pre-varnish the decal spots or not?

Hi and thank you all for the comments and likes it really does help keep my motivation up.

The black armour with thebred robes makes for a very striking command squad. The robes look stellar and great job on the high lighting!

Thank you, technically Angels of vengeance wear black robes but as you say the red on black looks striking and I'm deviating a bit from the official by retaining the red helmet stripe so...

Amazing work Possum, total success there! Your free hand is really well done! Congratulations man - this is a strikingly beautiful force you're building there!

Thank you very much indeed your consecrators were a huge influence, so I'm very pleased you like.

Cheers I'm very interested to know how the printed pads work out. Yes I use Johnsons Kleer (also known as future in the U.S.) its an acrylic gloss furniture polish, but its just about the same as the GW 'ardcoat for a fraction of the price. When the weather and time allows I'll be poppiing a coat of matt varnish on these boys which should  matt down any shine left over from the gloss, decal, micro set, mircro sol, lamian medium process. In another thread Brother Stobz suggested using nail varnish remover in place of the micro sol I intend to give this a try soon as nail polish remover is a lot cheaper than micro sol.

Right guys! Shapeways delivered today, 2 days ahead of schedule. After unpacking, those things look awesome. Crisp detail, clean surface, no rastering as per low quality 3D printing. Definitely worth the money. I will be posting images etc in my thread once I get home, wash them in soapy water and prime them. I will add details about the print quality selected etc. First impression though - definitely worth it!

B&C link to my thread if you cannot find it, expect update around 21:00ish CET

Hi So the ETL's start date is set and I'm planning on using it as a motivation to really press on with 3rd company. But in the meanwhile I've a few loose ends to tie up. First of those was my current dev squad is a mixed bag of 2 las cannons and two missile launchers not awful but not quite as dedecated as I would like so to that end I did these:

And now for a sneek peek at what I'm planning for my first ETL vow

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/tasciovanous/002_1.jpg

There are going to be 5 more bolter wielding dudes joining the M.L. Devs and perhaps a rhino to carry them around then I'm planning on getting some resin based goodness for my company veterns.

Greeting brothers,

I took on a new role at work and its proved to be a real maelstrom, with a team suffering from seriously low moral and a whole raft of legal compliance stuff that is all new to me to juggle alng with increasing work load. Oh yes its flattering but not always the most fun to have a reputation as a turn around leader...  Still I think we might be on our way with the worst of the crazy hours and huge work load. so I've taken a few days off and am looking to get some traction on my hobby projects that have been neglected for the last 2 months or so...

With that in mind I've made an out of comp vow in the ETL having missed the entry date and I've got some progress too!

This guy is one of my personal favorite models in the space marine range so I hope I've done him justice even if this one is a fine cast number with all the issues that can bring.

Welcome back! that maelstrom known as work can be a pain to pull yourself from, a nice update to return with.

Yep isn't it just but a few days away to clear my head is helping, and is great to be back I've missed the encouragement and camaraderie of this virtual rock!

Sweet Chappie!!!

Thanks I was going to swap out his bolt pistol for a plasma pistol but then was too shy in case it looked like a poor copy of your version of this chaplain...

So another day off and more progress damn but it feels good to get my hobby mojo back.

Todays offering is

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/tasciovanous/Dark%20angels/003_7.jpg

Septim rounds out my dreadnought compliment nicely, I'll get the assault cannon arm painted up for him soonish but I canned the missle arm as I just dont like the look of it and hanging around in the backfield shooting stuff just isn't how dreads should go about business, I see them as angry and unencumbered by caution!

Also it was my birthday on the 9th of May and my friends being the top draw nerds that they are bought me these little beauties, a bit of a distraction from my compleating a battle company by years end goal but a cool distraction I feel.

As ever comments, criticism or questions very welcome

Sweet Dread!!! :tu:

And never be afraid to copy and use others ideas and methods to create your own version of awesome :P  Yours looks great on the bigger base (32mm?), I am going to copy that when I get around to sprucing up my greenwing....

Good to have you back PP :smile.:...

Cheers mate its good to be back and back painting again.

Good to see you back! Real life is rarely considerate of hobby life

Great looking Chap you've got there, the red on his loin cloth pops right out. Dread looks sweet too, especially that purity seal.

Thanks, I not quite out of the woods at work yet but a few days away has helped restore my perspective a bit and I'm glad you like my latest additions.

Sweet Dread!!!

Cheers brother, I said that this one rounded my dread compliment out nicely but well maybe just one more...

Fine advice as ever, I'll now go back through your thread and shamelessly rip off every good idea:tongue.: and yes all my stuff except the limited edition web store captain and the very first tactical squad is on 32mm bases It is odd how much bigger it makes then look one day I might get round to finishing the bases properly....

Yeah, it's amazing the 32mm hasn't been an option before, sooo much better looking. I am planning on giving all my Independent Characters at least a 32, I won't be redoing my regular dudes though ;)

Another thing I love about you work, that Comd Sqd! I have the same loadout (four shields though) sitting in the to do list ( for over two years :dry.: ), I am totally stealing the diagonal stripe on the shield when they get done. Cheers in advance

I was not sure about the 32mm bases at first but I'm a solid convert now. As to the stripe I'd be flattered to see you put that on your command squad.

So I'm back to work tomorrow so hobby time is likely to suffer a bit but I'm determined not to let it fall off altogether. In the meanwhile I've finished my drop pod so that my out of comp vow done, next up is going to be getting my /land raider excelsior finished then the Rhino Primaris after that? who knows at the moment most likey the  M.L. devastators but maybe another Rhino if I've not lost all motivation to paint tanks by then!

And yet another delicious paint job from you PP. I hope work doesn't kill your paint mojo

Beautiful detail with the red and white hazard stripes, the weathering is subtle yet still catches the eye

Thanks mate Really appreciate your input, and I'm glad to say Work hasn't killed my mojo off just yet.  I've not managed quite the whirlwind of pent up hobby frenzy of last week but I do have this.

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/tasciovanous/Dark%20angels/003_8.jpg

Now this is a WIP but I could do with some input, I'm dithering about putting a final extreme highlight on or just tidying up the panel lining and weathering it up a bit (I like my stuff to look fresh off the battle barge) there are also a few details to finish up properly.

So help do i give it a final highlight? or is it best left at this stage but neatened up?
