+Betrayal at Calth: Conversions and Ideas for the New Box+

Recommended Posts

That Contemptor has me worried. I really hate it but can't afford to do nothing with it. I have to step up my converting game or find a "how to" to make it look like less of a static weird robot.

I changed mine to look like this:

Very easy to do:

-Slice off one leg with an exacto knife or even clippers

-Pivot slightly backwards to give it a sense of movement, and then greenstuff over the cut.

I also removed the head and replaced it with one from the Cataphractii kit so the dread would look as if it was turning, but using the aforementioned technique of separating the body and legs you could achieve something very similar.

And since I'm here, I may as well present to you my master of signal:

Thanks for looking!

Those are really nice Contemptor conversions guys. I'm saving your pics and sticking them in my "inspiration" folder (read techniques I steal). Thank you both for sharing.

Cool Master of Signal Squig. The bionic hand really makes that model unique.

Grand Master I really dig your thousand sons and am sorta jealous of how well your upgrade kit looks compared to the Sons of Horus. I am curious though, a modeler and painter of your obvious skill doesn't drill out holes for his guns? I once read an old WD where this contributor..Adrian something, an Ork player, said,"If ya don't drill out yer barrels yer gunz don't shoot!"

Been drilling out my barrels ever since. lol. All joking aside, beautiful models. Very nicely done.

@Malakai - Unfortunately, when it comes to my 'hobby pie', modelling and painting are much smaller slices than background and gaming for me. As I'm not particularly astounding at the former two, I sort of just coast on the bare minimum.

I was just looking over your stuff again. You don't give yourself enough credit. Way more than just a gamer. In particular your models are weathered without being overly done like so many models I've seen from 30K gamers. I'm looking forward to following your army if you'd be kind enough to post more pics.

Not much more than some Weapons swaps but here are my Lernaean Terminators ready for painting.

Volkite Chargers and a Conversion Beam projector :D

Excellent! Just waiting on the delivery of some Volkite Chargers for me to complete the very same style of unit. The Conversion Beamer is very nice too; is that the one from the Predator Executioner? If so, yay! I have one spare!

No it's off this guy

It was looking forlorn in my bits box so I hacked it up and cobbled it together with the heavy flamer arm from the B@C box.

Cheers

Haha, okay, okay, I'll drill out my bolters :-) but, thanks for the kind words. I tend to be my own worst enemy, I'll constantly go back and criticise my own work. Nice to hear your work is appreciated!

Now, onto Calth and what to do with this dreadfully posed Contemptor...

Been playing a bit more with the dread.

The legs are just the most concerning part. I'm gonna have to go to the hobby store to get a different attachment to re pose the legs... They are the absolute worst

One of the best & simplest conversions I've seen to alter the B@C Contemptor is to remove the axle which joins the legs to the crotch, drill out the resulting holes in the groin & glue in beads so that you can rotate the angle the legs join the pelvis (recreating the joints in the FW Contemptor) - with the way the legs are posed, just angling the legs out can create a much more natural pose.

Not sure if these count entirely, more kitbashey than just chopping up the BaC box.

VI Legio Veteran squad, with power weapons and a flamer, and Sgt with CHOOM!

Trying to find a balance between just slapping SW bitz on the MKIV kits. These guys weren't too tough, being vets I figured I could push it a bit further, it will be interesting to see how the Tactical squad I have queued up shakes out.

Terran Born Sgt. He's meant to have a power sword, but I got him mixed up with the Tac Sgt who has the Chainsword. I have also since the pic sourced a power plant for him.

Autek Mor: The Maimed

Autek Mor: Lord of the Morragul Clan

Long time stalker first time poster :P I'm not 100% sure if posting these images will work but I'll try anyway. This is the BaC praetor dude converted to be Autek Mor of Clan Morragul, Iron Hand :P
I converted him myself but didn't paint him :)
