That bird is looking out of sight, man! Having a whole shot of your army gives me some inspiration as to getting mine done. One day there will be a large Death Guard Assault Squad with my name on it. That thought came to me as I am looking at your Bike Squad and thinking of things that don't fit some peoples' ideas of HH fluff. You know: Death Guard don't use Transports, Raven Guard don't use tanks, etc. I won't rant on your thread msn-wink.gif.

Anyway, let me ask you this: how different is it to paint a tank all grimy vs an Infantryman? Is there a steep learning curve to it?

After I source a Land Raider proper, I've got a Mk IIB to piece together. That will be my last endeavour before it's AoS painting time as power armour is a very repetitious thing to get done.

Painting the tanks isn't too bad you just have to watch keep two things in mind. When washing with oil (1) watch for spirit leakage and (2) do small areas at a time. Try to do a whole model and your stuck with either spending 2-6 hours finishing it or risk having to repaint. I've found that DG's rite of war lends itself to "fast attack" choices being excellent. Bikes and assault squad are awesome with move through cover and rad grenades!

Thanks Chaeron and Meh! It's nice to have regular visitors to this log. It keeps me churning out models, which is good because I need motivation to catch up on my paintinghaving never been fully caught up before.

I really do like a minimalist approach to Death Guard. I didn't even like the legion symbol on the doors at first but used them anyway just because I had them lying around. I've tried to keep ornamentation off of all my models save the command squad.

@Meh. Now that I've finished my MKiib, you need to get yours done as well! I'm looking forward to seeing a better version of my Mkiib on one of your topics soon.

I'm always bad at taking pictures of assembly. I get too excited and whirlwind it together. The thought of picking up a Fellblade has entered my mind and won't leave, so if I get one, I'll try to post a couple assembly pictures like an actual WIP log. Haha. In other news, still waiting for my darned bases. I picked up a cool magnetic flying widget for my raptor which is getting stripped to accommodate the widget and be more in line with my current scheme. Im still looking for a canopy for it.

So I've got a big update today! After wiffing with one base company, I decided to order from my old favorite and was definitely pleased. I also managed to get a new kind of flying base for my raptor. Here are some photos of the new bases and dusting!

I also received a Mkiv command set which allowed me to finally finish my command squad! Enjoy!

Gotta love the fire raptors. Those bases look very good!

Not sure about the practicalities of riding a motor bike one handed holding a banner, but it sure looks good. Have you ordered the new transfers to finish him?

Thanks for the compliments, everyone! I'll be posting new pictures of everything as they are newly based (Including some close ups of the contemptor). After all the basing is done, I'm wanting to go back and do some minor touch ups, seal them and call 'em good.

@Avalon - The white is fairly simple. I don't have any particular kind I use except for the purest white I can find. I start by painting the entire model so that every color is finished besides the white. Then I seal my model with flat varnish. I let that dry for a while then I'll cover the entire model in odorless spirits. I'll create a mixture of burnt umber oil paint and odorless spirits that has a consistency slightly thicker than a gw wash. I then paint the wash on the model which is already covered in odorless spirits. (In cracks/around bolts/etc Next, let it dry. (I have found using a hair dryer helps give more precise grime in the end.) Finally, working in sections I apply spirits back to the model removing the umber from the spaces you don't. ( Q Tips are miracle workers here). You end up with grime around bolts and in cracks and a nice stain over the white. (You can even keep some surfaces completely white if your careful.

Here are a couple shot of some newly based terminators (of all flavors!).
