I'm throwing together a small Scouring list for ETL V using the BA in Book VI - Retribution. Thematically, it's the Flesh Tearers; they aren't completely codex compliant yet as it's early days, so that's the basis for using the Heresy rules. It's capped at around 1500pts at the moment, although I'm prepared to raise or drop that amount. Anyhow, as far as the list goes;

- Small, battle-hardened squads; worn down by the Heresy, comprised of veterans.

- Assault orientated; plenty of chainswords, inferno pistols, CC weaponry.

- Assault cannons for days?

HQ

- Samael Tyrus - Legion Praetor - 265pts - Master of the Legion: Pride of the Legion, Artificer Armour, Iron Halo, Inferno Pistol, Heavy Chainsword, Legion Command Squad (115pts - x2 Legion Space Marine Chosen, x1 Legion Space Marine Standard Bearer, x3 Heavy Chainswords)

- Lexicanum Cassiel - Legion Centurion - 150pts - Artificer Armour, Consul: Librarian, Psychic Mastery: Mastery Level 2, Inferno Pistol, Heavy Chainsword

- Chaplain Aelius - Legion Centurion - 120pts - Artificer Armour, Consul: Chaplain, Inferno Pistol, Heavy Chainsword

Elites

- Apothecarion Detachment - 110pts - Brother Valens - Legion Apothecary (Artificer Armour), Brother Vitus - Legion Apothecary (Artificer Armour)

Troops

- Tactical Squad Maxentius - Legion Veteran Tactical Squad - 160pts - x1 Brother-Sergeant Thracius - Legion Veteran Sergeant (Artificer Armour, Inferno Pistol), x4 Legion Veteran Space Marines (Legion Vexilla, Veteran Tactics: Furious Charge)

- Tactical Squad Seneca - Legion Veteran Tactical Squad - 160pts - x1 Brother-Sergeant Aetius - Legion Veteran Sergeant (Artificer Armour, Inferno Pistol), x4 Legion Veteran Space Marines (Legion Vexilla, Veteran Tactics: Furious Charge)

Keep in mind this isn't really planned for usage on the tabletop; it's more a list designed to work to my benefit for ETL V, whilst keeping it thematically sensible for the Scouring. I've entertained the thought of another five-man Vet Tac Squad, or throwing in an Assault Squad instead.

I like the list only question why the heavy chainsword on your librarian? If it is modeled that way why not just call it a force weapon and add some snippet of fluff explaining the different style of weapon. I personally love the look of the two handed chainsword my wolves praetor has one counting as a paragon blade. Otherwise it feels like a fluffy elite detachment from the early chapter maybe add some "baal" predators for a armored element as that seems to be their favored method of warfare in the fluff.

Apparently, my Macbook decided to die mid-sentence, so I lost my original response. I guess that's what happens when you purchase hardware that's designed to degrade as rapidly as possible.

As far as the Librarian goes, I wanted to give him a Heavy Chainsword to tie him in to the rest of the army, however I could just as easily give him a Force Axe. I'll probably wind up using chainaxes on my Veteran Marines as counts-as chainswords, so having him run a Force Axe alongside one of those squads might look alright.

I could definitely throw a Baal Predator into the mix, though.

so how are blood Angels in relation to other legions in the game right now? Are we as outdated as our 7th edition counterpart?

It seems that the days of revelation will get better when we get access to cheaper assualt squads until then I was wondering how people feel about other ROW we an use. The coolest one so far seems to be pride of the legion as veteran tactical squads sound like a pretty good unit that's synergies with our rules. Any ideas on how well a pride list does with our rules?

Pride does fine with us. 2+ to wound with power axes is nice. Plus you can always hilariously massed hand flamers/ inferno pistols.

Our other RoW honestly feels crap. You have to lose loads of guys just to get FNP5+? BOO.

Should have been 4+ and had a few more buffs.

It would've been fine if they didn't count as destroyed and non-scoring once they got said FNP, making the survivability boost pointless. And as stated already, as soon as assault marines aren't horrendously overcosted, Day of Revelations will be great.

Odds on there being a change to the points in the new book?

High.

They've been mentioned in the past by Alan and such that they understand they are over costed, especially in the Heresy environment with all of the big guns.

Jump packs being 10 points a guy is just too much.

Hopefully them and Destroyers (mayyyybe breachers) will be given a reduction.

That said though - with the buffs we get from our Rite and legion rules, Assault marines are almost worth their current points... Almost.

Odds on there being a change to the points in the new book?

It was stated at the Weekender this year that they are definitely receiving a change. I think it was Andy Hoare that stated it would be a points cost reduction but my memory is pretty bad.

Hopefully them and Destroyers (mayyyybe breachers) will be given a reduction.

I remember asking Andy if Destroyers would get a points reduction or change also and he said no. But like 3 of us asked at the same time so maybe the weight of that did some work (or if any more people have been asking there or at other events). Although Andy is now working on specialist games instead of Heresy, so if there were any changes since it was probably Alan Bligh's work? Depends on when the book was finalized and sent to printers I guess.

Yes, at the same seminar their response was "what's wrong with breachers". It's time we admit 30K can be just as wonky on internal balance as 40K, they just tend to undershoot rather than overshoot, and super friends/formations not being a thing keeps it grounded in sanity.

Can't remember if it is limited to infantry squads, but an attached siege breaker to a squad of assault cannon attack bikes could be absolutely brutal!

Big weight of fire to deal with most targets be it infantry or AV.

Hoping sky slayers are heavy weapon bikes and can take heavy flamers, so I could even do this with Jetbikes :D

Gone with a little extra flavour in this list, it's day of revalation, but not all in if that makes sense, any ideas, please post up there!

http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323858-blood-angels-3kb-day-of-revalation/

Can that take assault cannons? I don't think heavy flamer is an option for blood Angels mate.

Sadly not an option - as the only guys to get heavy flamer Jetbikes currently are Salamanders through their special rules and we can only get assault cannons by swapping out a heavy flamer!

BRRRRRRRRT indeed though.

It also makes it feasible to now equip a 10 man Squad with Combat Shields if you're going the CC Route or as 10 Man Meltabombers.

Can basically get combat shields and an apothecary for the price of what they were before! I am hype!
