+++E Tenebrae Lux V - Realm of Chaos Strategium+++

Recommended Posts

Perhaps to alleviate the burden that is the wait for the final report, may I direct you all (and especially Marshall Matthias) to this post in the Realm of Chaos?

Well, I'm glad I found that stormbolter in my bits box ;)

But in all honesty, I think we both had more models planned yet we both seemingly struggled this year. Congrats to Carrack for getting that vow completed too - that stubbornness to stay true to your vow, why, it's almost a bit... Dornian.... ;)

So whats everyone's post-ETL plans? Me, I'm taking a long Age of Sigmar shaped break. Got two lots of the Bloodbound from the core to paint, plus some other bits and bobs. Of course, once I'm getting bored of that the Call will likely have kicked off so I'll have a scrabble around for something I want to paint that is points inefficient and isn't more cultists.

hobby vise, experimentering with silicone moulds and resin casting of my own sculpts everything from my obliterator to my defiler/chaos knight upgrade, then building and finishing my sons of horus before going back to all the 40k awsomeness i have lined upp ^^

@ThePsycho: yeah, half the joy of these events is finding what works for you. If doing say five 200ish point vows is what works, awesome! It's one of the reasons I like the Call, I can use it to test myself if I want to and calibrate ETL vows accordingly.

Hell, I should have broken my first vow down this year. That's a tip for future years: if someone dies on the day the event starts, schedule an extra couple of weeks on to the duration of the first vow.

BOOOOOM! You´ve been made Marshal Matthias´ female canine companion, Carrack!! With a church-on-a-tank, no less! Hahaha! :p ;)

I Slave to Darkness vow to add a church on a tank to my Word Bearers for this years call, and also a Relic Predator with the flamer turret.. And a Knight ;)

Post ETL plans? Paint Space Wolves build Cytyfight board on a budget and maybe some oldschool Realms of Chaos esque scenery for Path to Glory games. Then start planning my Call to Chaos vows.

I definitely want to see that terrain! :tu:

I'm already working on CSM models I couldn't get done before the end of the ETL, in preparation for Armies On Parade.

In the next year I hope to add a knight (like everyone else, it seems!), a greater daemon, finish off my dreadclaw conversion...more beastmen, more cultists, more noise marines...

MOAR basically.

Oh and the headless Doomrider that Teetengee inspired me to do. Perhaps do that for Call of Chaos.

Ill do a thread just for my 'broke ass gamer with no budget scenery'. Got some mantic deadzone buildings kicking around as well. Maybe some Necromunda/Gorkamorka/Fallout scenery needs making. Jeez Im gonna be busy.

Hello Chaos - It seems someone has a Penance Vow:

Penance Vows:

I, Carrack, vow that I will complete more points of models painted to the best of my ability than Marshall Mattias, by the completion of ETL. Failure, as unlikely as that is, will result in me donating 50$ to a charity of his choice, and worse, having to live with the fact that I lost to a Templar.

So not my best work, but I finished Captain Macar and my first vow. I had better expectations for this model which I mentioned earlier, and this ETL, but life kept me busy.

@Carrack - Very nice 330 pts there. Its a shame that you lost to a Templar by 5 whole points.

Marshal Mattias' vow a Land Raider which he finished yesterday was 335 pts.

Under normal circumstances I would feel shame at losing by 5 measly points, but dang, that's a nice land raider.

I'll be taking a break myself, got assignments coming up, although I'll likely keep at least one passion project on hand. By the time the call comes around I might be representing it with said passion project... a Daemon Prince and Maulerfied/Greater Daemon and Soul Grinder converted from the Everqueen's new model

I would like to point out that our strategem thread is about 30 pages more than the AOD forum...just saying. Chaos has far more love...and cookies...

And Khornettes!

Stop it Im hungry!!!!

Think Im gonna find a cafe thats open for my bacon fix.

LAST UPDATE

The last update is done. Please check your status to make sure it's correctly represented in the second post of the first page. Let me know if there is a problem.

Firstly, thanks to Captain Semp for running the competition again - your efforts are well appreciated as ever; many thanks thumbsup.gif and thanks to all who tool part as there have been some fantastic completions this year (esp Team Chaos) and some of you guys really impress me with your dedication to the Dark Gods, with this thread a great read and great to see peoples completions come through cool.png Despite me personally only managing 229 points, by Khorne they were a hard earned 229 points every one, and every little helps, hey?

Hobbywise for me up next, hopefully this has kickstarted me into getting a bit more painting done! Now I have finished my Chosen (which in fairness run as CSM) I will either go onto my Cultists or, more likely, Hades Rapiers.

Cheers all, thoroughly enjoyed smile.png

Thank you Captain Semper! I can't imagine all the work that goes into an event like this. The ETL is always one of the highlights of my year. thumbsup.gif

As for future hobby plans, I bought Space Hulk back when it was re-released as something my wife and I could play together. I never ended up getting the models put together or painted, and even stole a bit or two for some other projects.

I'm going to put together a Chaos Terminator band matching the equipment of all the Blood Angels from the game, just for fun. Why should the Sons of Sanguinius get all the Genestealer killing fun?

Yes I wanted to say a big thanks to Captain Semper for running the event again this year - I don't know how he does it - but I'm sure glad he does!

I also wanted to say a big heartfelt thanks to everybody in the Chaos community. The warm reception offered to myself and my army really motivated my confidence in my own ability, and I went on to do things I didn't even think were possible. The ETL has been a resounding success for me; I really couldn't have done it without you guys :)

Whether helping me out with points, a spot of painterly advice, general banter here in the stratigum or by commenting in my thread, all you folks really helped me to get this one over the line, it has been my most successful ETL ever; if not my most successful year in the hobby at large!

I'm really happy with my chaos forces, and happy to have found my home here on the B&C.

Future wise for my hobby, well there is a lot I want to do for my Black Legion. I need to finish the rhinos and the Landraider. I would like to add some deamon engines and some proper deamons aswell.

But I need a break from power armour for a little while. I was seriously considering an Autumn themed Wood Elves army, and or an un-dead Empire army... I just want to work on something really bright and colourful and pretty :)

I'm all grimdarked out after all my chaos forces. I don't expect I'll be away for long though; these side projects never last too long. Once I've gotten it out of my system I'm sure I will return, bigger, better and stronger than ever!

Thanks again dudes, has been a real blast!

For The Ruinous Powers, and the Chaos Forum! Death to the False Emperor! Glory to Chaos Eternal!

Let there be dancing

I failed miserably this year. My master thesis killed all of my hobby time and enthusiasm. One year of spawndom for me I guess.

And congrats for all your fantastic competitions! Especially STD! You're a beast!

Always Call of Chaos to redeem yourself Aasfresser?

@ BrotherJim: That's great to hear, buddy! I can totally get behind your words about the B&C. You did great, and your army look fantastic! Let us know where we can drool over your undead emprire!

@ Aasfresser: Master's theses have priority over everything! Also: don't forget Chaeron! He's just as much a beast as STD, with 15000 points killed.

@ Augustus- to be quite honest mate; I really just struggle to find the right words. I love the B&C. It's been my home on the internet, ever since I discovered the Internet. It's my happy place.

I'm probably going to put some thought into finding the right words over the weekend. I wanted to post all my completions but I'm feeling guilty; about the fact I haven't gotten back around to finishing them yet.

But I don't want to paint anymore. No more painting. No more painty paint. No more building. No more. Rest now. Victory. Sleep. Plan. Consolidate.

Yes I will let you know; no worries

...

I second that. Thanks heaps, good Captain, and in fact everybody for the experience. I only contributed a humble 485 points, but I enjoyed the ride a lot anyway and to see our community grow from strength to strength was amazing. Thanks, everybody!
