Second Test Scheme. I wanted an excuse to do the Sons of Horus colour scheme without doing an whole SoH army, so this was a good excuse to try it out.

Im....not a huge fan of it as it is. I like the basic colours, but I think I'm going to modulate the colour a little more with the airbrush on the next model to give it a little more contrast.

Excellent work. Does this Van Saar ganger have a name?

Not yet. Any ideas?

Knowing how small and fiddly these kits are and seeing how much detail you packed into it is very impressive.

Thanks. Yeah I have to say I'm pretty impressed with how detailed the Van Saar kits are

I like that colourscheme, and very impressive work on the eyes and face!

Thank you :D

The blue schem is definitely better here. It's strinking, it's vibrant. Also it ties well with the base.

Sons of Horus color scheme is hard as it tends to be dark, and flat, and ultimately - bland. Perhaps try to make it more vibrant some additional green tint? Or liven it up with more striking red and yellows?

Doing more tests on my Van Saar.

To clarify, the grey/blue ones are a commission, the sea green are my personal Gangers.

I took my original test model and I changed a few things to really make him stick out. First I redid the reds, modulating it a little bit to give it a brighter hue. Then I changed the base to a rusted out one using FW and MIG Productions weathering powders. I also used a little Orange Rust weathering powder from Forgeworld in recesses to give him a more rusted out look. I also used some Nihilakh Oxide on the gold and silver parts, which works well aesthetically in my opinion, but I feel it could be a little messy right now. I also thought about using some oils to give hims some grime here and there, but I think that would be overdoing it.

I also did similar things to the Blue/Grey Ganger as well.

I changed up the yellows, gave him some more rust and also gave him some verdigris.

Both looking amazing. While the first guy is more traditional in the green I think the grey/yellow is and absolute winner

Thanks.

I have more green guys coming up. I modulated the colour more, and personally I prefer that colour scheme.

Excellent work on the Van Saar gangers.

Thank you!

For me, a definite improvement on the Son of Horus Ganger  I like he contrast and brighter hue. The base looks kinda messy from this angle.

Thanks.

Yeah the base is supposed to be messy, its Necromunda!

Good job on the new guys. Is that a Tau skull embedded in the shield's boss?

Thanks again!

Nope, its the Van Saar symbol, basically a skull with multiple spider like eyes.

I just went through this entire thread and you sir are an AMAZING painter, holy :censored: man! Everything looks wonderful!

Thank you very much :biggrin.:

They look fantastic! The weathering is adding a lot and really making them look necromundish.
Love the shield. Have you treated the surface of the  "field" with some color or varnish? I love how it distorts the shape and color behind it.

They look stunning, really amazing work!

Thank you kindly :smile.:

I just went through the entire thread looking for mold lines, I didn't see a single one good job. You are a very detailed modeler and painter.

Thanks.

Yeah, not a fan of mold lines. Took me about 2 hours per model to build and sand off all the mold lines.

Time well spent IMO

Nope, the field of the shield was the easiest thing. Just glue it on to the painted center pieces, and done!

the shield already has a slight bluish hue to it.

Its more of a green bluish tinge.

Van Saar love their greens :biggrin.:

I love how these have a cyberpunk AND gothic feel. Best blending of the two I’ve seen so far.

Thats Necromunda my friend.

It's a delicious goulash of grimdark and cyberpunk violence

Very nice, you really are capturing their eyes extremely well indeed! I can't paint that fine in those areas for toffee.

Thanks dude!

I'm just ok at it. There are some people out there who are so good at it that you would think it was done by a computer designed for micro surgery!

Finished Asterion Moloc, Chapter Master of the Minotaurs.

Back in 2016, I did some Miotaurs Tactical marines and posted them in a separate thread. A little while after that I sold off my entire painted and unpainted Minotaurs force. Recently I painted the Chapter Master of the Minotaurs, and I decided to try out a different scheme for him.

For one, I modulated his bronze armour with the airbrush while I wet blended the armour of the Tac marines using a brush. The amount of verdigris used is clearly another big difference.

In any case I'm putting the photos for them here to consolidate all my photos in one thread.
