July… ETL is on, ETL is going strong and the Casual Challenge is fully in support of the ETL! I do encourage everyone willing to pledge their ETL minis for the Casual challenge as well! And with that I, Nevindar, hereby opens up the thread for the month!

Any and all models pledged in the ETL challenge may also be pledged for the Casual Challenge. Note however that the ETL have a 3 month deadline whereas the Casual Challenge will still have the 1 month deadline. This makes for a great way to divide up your total ETL pledge in…. eh… Manageable Chunks? ;)

We all know how this works by now, pledge some models to paint this month, build your armies, and enjoy the opportunity to stick it to the Traitors/Loyalists. Full rules can now be found in the Hall of Victors thread - where anyone involved so far should feel happy to post their full army shots!

There is something important still in effect this month that I have been lax in enforcing. Pledges should be completed before any additional models are pledged and models need to be pledged to be counted for the casual challenge.

As a basic reminder, every model you pledge to paint is worth points. Once you finish the model and show us you earn points for your faction. These are always safe, so there is always an incentive to keep painting! The scores are as follows -

Infantry - 1 point;
Large Infantry (terminators, bikes, rapiers without crew etc.) - 2 points;
Monstrous infantry - 3 points;
Vehicles and Fortifications - 6 points;
Lord of War (including Primarchs)- 10 points;
Warhound Titan – 15 points;
Reaver Titan – 20 points (still hoping to see one someday!)
(If you feel like painting a Warlord Titan for the Challenge… We can work something out)
Building pledge is a quarter of a point for the model pledged, and if the model is also “upgraded” with a paint job in the same month it will receive full points for painting but none for the build itself.

So brothers, sisters, post-humans and machine creations, for the Emperor or for Horus let's see some pledges!

Well, I failed to complete last months challenge. So, I'll take it through to this one:

1 Ordo Reductor (loyalist) Thanatar!

As I'll be using oils on it this month, I'm going to throw in the following additional items for my Alpha Legion to keep me painting while I wait for the oils to dry:

Autillon Skorr

5 Tactical Troopers

5 Tactical Support Troopers

Right, I've finished my EtL vow 3, so now can pledge stuff from vow 4

I pledge a unit of 4 myrmidon destructors with photon thrusters, a unit of 3 myrmidon destructors with conversion beamers, a magos Ordinator, an Arlatax and a praetor

Basically all the undercoated stuff.

A few days in and this is my current status:

Thanatar is now chipped and varnished with Klear:

Now for the oils.

And my Alpha's:

Airbrushing stage now done. Will be doing these while waiting for the Oils to dry on the Thanatar

Well, thats my magos, arlatax and praetor all done.

Considering that I only have 5 models left for my current EtL vow and only one of them is actually fully built/undercoated I'll have to pledge him.

I'll pledge painting Ferrus Manus (been putting this off since April).

Edited because I didn't want to double post

Roughly 3 hours of progress on Ferrus Manus.

Well, I'm on course to fail my vow, but I'm so close! My Thanatar is oiled and just awaiting Weathering Powders along with base and final varnish.

My Alpha Legion bods are in a similar position. They're now awaiting their weapons followed by chipping, basing, powders and then varnish. Here's where they were a few nights ago:

I went a bit mad this month and decided to rebase all my previous Alpha Legion on 32mm bases, so that has taken up a chunk of my time. Lets see how far I get by the Weekend.
