MadGreek
Mmm, DC with packs and bolters. How do they work out in game for you? Havent tried them out yet! Have 2 more to add, then a Chaplain with a jump pack, fist and bolt pistol (as well as his usual wargear). The thinking is that 8 bolters and 2 bolt pistols (hammer guys - deliberately modeled with one handed hammers and pistols for that option), on relentless, and jump packs, will provide a very manoeuvrable fire platform to lay down hurt on mid level toughness opposition. Putting 2 hammers and a fist in the squad (including the chappy who will bounce around with them) also lets it take out / threaten heavier armour. The chaplain also gives re-rolls (always good to have). And if anyone charges them they are fighting 10 DC. Or you could just charge them first... Just seems like the kind of unit that would not be fun to deal with if it was coming the other way. Is this a legal loadout? I believe you have to trade the pistol away for the Fist. Trade Pistol for Bolter, trade Pistol OR Chainsword for the Fist.

Eh, the Chaplain has neither a chainsword nor the choice to trade one for a Fist so he has to trade the Bolt Pistol for the Fist: Hidden Content OPTIONS: May replace bolt pistol with one of the following - Boltgun…free - Power fist…25 pts So you can't have the Fist and Bolt Pistol together, it has to be Crozius and Fist. Actually, you can't trade the Crozius away for anything. Edited October 13, 2016 by appiah5
SM1981
Just checked the codex, and you are right! OK so new plan. They'll be supported by a Chaplain with a fist and his usual wargear. Still, the idea remains the same.

Slothysaur
Finally got around to working on my vow (and posted the vow picture back on page 3)http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325877-from-rage-to-salvation-2016/?p=4511289Another man from the squad has been finished sans eye lenses and base. Going to get the whole squad to this point and have an eye and rock party. Enter a progress potato pic. Dont-Be-Haten
Good news! I'm getting a good bit accomplished today on the Drop pod. The Interior will be finished soon, only thing left is hazard stripes on the hatches and edge highlights along same said hatches. Then it will be time for assembly and my vow will be complete! Xenith
Death Company done. Now on to the Chaplain. I have a lot of time for these guys. A question though, why bolt pistols with the hammers? Bolters are the better choice as they never get +1 attack anyway as the hammer is a specialist weapon.
SM1981
Because I over looked that (Doh!)... Looks like arms will be being switched out in the near future.
Tyriks
Are there any left hands holding bolters out there? I made the same mistake with my dc pf, but realized afterwards I couldn't have done it differently anyway.

Tyriks
Alright, second vow done. I'm pretty surprised I got them painted so fast. They'll need a little touching up and highlighting the metallics since the wash kind of dulled them, but that can be later. Right now I'm more concerned with just getting enough stuff painted that I could potentially field a full army that is actually painted, haha. Pic 1 http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee443/Tyriks/IMG_1183_zpspkscjjcb.jpg Pic 2 http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee443/Tyriks/IMG_1185_zps50xjy9dt.jpg I'm contemplating a third vow. I might be pushing my luck though, haha. I have a lot of partially painted models because I rarely want to sit down and paint something start to finish. Xenith
Unique, tyriks, I like it. On another note, I'm never again painting more than 5 models at a time using the new super detailed plastics. 10 is torture to hit all the detail. Basic marine squads for me. appiah4
I'm terribly burned out on blacking out weapons and crap on my devastators. I REALLY wish I hadn't glued the arms on, at this point I haven't been able to make myself finish the last two models for the last few weeks. I'm busy idly assembling a land speeder and some Death Company instead. It's hopeless..

I'm busy idly assembling a land speeder and some Death Company instead. It's hopeless.. Know how you feel bud, keep at it. Repainting weapons black sucks the life out of me. As a reprieve from unit burn out, I'm considering making individual models for a while, as opposed to squads, and build up units that way. It will be an interesting experiment. I already have an idea for my next dev squad...
appiah4
I try to do that myself.. I enjoy painting Captains most, and now I have 3 of them.. And I have one limited edition Captain awaiting assembly/paint.. It ends up being fun but counterproductive..
Charlo
If I do any sort of Dev squad, It'll be just two Grav Cannons to go in a Rhino - I think all the other weapons (other than the under-used Plasma Cannon) are a bit useless for BA. Mine is a squad I built with magnetized heads in 5th Ed; 3 MLs and 1 Lascannon. It's a classic utility squad. It may not be the best loadout but I wanted to get the Dev squad covered.. I want to finish the Demi Company before year end. Xenith 1 Back to top
