Okay, how's this?

The Steel Legion

Numeration: The XVIIIth Legion

Primogenitor: Nomus Sardauk

Cognomen (Prior): The Silent Chorus

Allegiance: Socius Sollicitus

Valuing knowledge and reason above all else, the Space Marines of the Steel Legion fight with inhuman synchronicity and precision. Connected together by an advanced neural network the Steel Legion systematically devastates their foes through a potent combination of espionage, sabotage and overwhelming firepower. Theirs is not simply a mission to conquer the galaxy as with their cousins, but a quest to re-learn the scientific wisdom of Mankind's past to secure the future of the species. Logical, efficient and possessed of a relentless curiosity, Nomus stands apart from his brother Primarchs due to the bionic augmentations forced upon him in his youth, leaving him emotionally muted and viewed as inhuman by the Imperium at large. However it would be an all too human need to understand and be accepted that would lure Nomus down the path of treachery, only for unforeseen horrors to prompt betrayal once more.

Warning. Tangent ahead. You have been warned

So I was intrigued today as to how swapping over to the datasheet format would impact the look of the 30K army lists. I also wanted to get a little ahead of the game so when it comes time for us to switch over to 8th I'll have a layout ready to go. Anyway this is what happened when I followed the examples we've had so far and applied them to the humble Legion Tactical Squad. It's a little... busier than I'd hoped (btw all weapon profiles/power ratings/rules are pure guesswork and supposition at this point save when directly copied from previewed sources). Anyway I wanted to show you guys the direction I'm leaning towards right now so you can give feedback/suggestions.

Well, it looks like unit entries will take up the whole page now. I would replace 'Loyalty' with 'Loyalist'.

But surely Loyalist would indicate only one side? Whereas the Loyalty can be replaced with Loyalist, Traitor (Insurrectionist) and Suzerainty (in our case). In the same way that Legion would be replaced by a specific Legion.

Having completed this visual experiment I'm hoping that FW will make a summary page for the weapons so that units with a wide variety of weapon options won't take up the whole page.

Grifft, would whether FW do that or not affect what you can do?

It would certainly influence my decision. The issue is mainly going to be for units with lots of options. To put it in context I was able to fit both of the previewed datasheets (Rubric Marines and Intercessor Squad) onto a single page in basically the same space as the Tactical Squad. I think that it's too busy for the units with lots of options (I dread doing the Totem Guard weapon options :P), but I also really like the idea of having everything written in one place. It's something that I'd like to aspire towards doing, but aesthetics are a major consideration.

I won't be making a decision until I see some more datasheets, at least. Especially the character ones because I want to see if they list every single weapon option available to a character or not. Because if they do certain character datasheets are going to drag on forever.

BTW Kelborn, I noticed the Predators summary in the "Here To Start" thread needs to be fully filled out, might wanna get on that brother.

Predators (under construction)

Numeration: The XXth Legion

Primogenitor: Andezo Sambedi

Cognomen (Prior): Arcane Blades

Allegiance:

[summary will come soon]

Ok guys, it happened.

I'm quoting from the recent N&R threads:

What is a primaris space marine?
new generation of space marines. Blended primarch, custodes, and space marine geneseed. Bigger more powerful, but more specialized when compared to tactical squads. The entire primaris squad is all trained in the weapons.

Ultimate Founding...
New Primaris Marine Chapters! + they will be other existing Space Marine Chapters. Even existing Space Marines can be adapted and made into Primaris Space Marines.

What is Mark X Armor and what happened to Mark VIIII?
Mark X of Armor is new but didnt give a lot of information about it.
Mark VIIII is a mystery.

This was discussed in the latest Q&A on warhammertv. So in canon, we will be able to upgrade our beloved characters and forces into Primaris Marines, slowly outdating the old minis. Though I like this path way more than simply and immediately exchanging charismatic chapters like the Wolves with bland Megamarines.

Another thing which was quoted from Atia's blog:

https://img4.hostingpics.net/pics/301623atia.png Sanguinius might be back. Nearly the entire Emperor vs Horus battle might get retconned.

Now we can go all bonkers and create the weirdest :cuss: we can imagine with our project. We can do better than GW. ;)

Still a better story than Twilight though. :P

?!?!?!?!?!?!?*

*This is a coherent as my thoughts on this have become in 15 mins.

I KNOW, RIGHT!?

Having read some more reactions to the idea elsewhere I'm calming down a bit now. On the one hand his death at the hands of Horus was defining for both him and the Blood Angels showing them at their best but also bringing out their worst as a consequence. However he does draw a lot from influences that have themes of rebirth so it wouldn't be completely out of character. So I'll say I'm uncertain at the moment, if it happens the writing will be absolutely key so as not to annoy me royally.

On the other hand: Fingers crossed for a huge Sanguinius model in plastic!? :D

I am split in half.

The fanboy in me is beyond ecstatic that I may be able to field Sanguinius in all of his glory in 40k, representing true nobility as the Blood Angels crusade against the enemies of Mankind.

The writer in me is furious and terrified. Sanguinius' sacrifice is a cornerstone of the entire setting and one of the key pillars of the Blood Angels' character. To have him come back is in serious danger of cheapening his original sacrifice. That and I'm not sure I trust GW to handle this potential rebirth well.
