Just a quick Warband fluff update, Im off for a 12 day cruise to Norway later this month so I shall be away from the miniatures that distract fluff progress. To this ive set aside a small notebook and moved over all my current fluff notes etc, im hoping to come back with a Warband History/Origin story and some small parts for each squad like I did with the Warsmith. So I haven't given up expect some Dyslexic riddled fluff next month!

But for now models models models.

So FW didn't turn up today and was super busy at work doing overtime but I did manage to put together my generic 1st of my generic Raptors for the last of my Raptor Claws. These guys are going to be a mix of the Raptor Kit and MKIV kit so they are not as corrupted as the Bleeding eyes claw and not as uncorrupted as the Shadow Hawks claw. Didn't take pictures as hopefully will have the whole squad done soon.

 

On a didn't plan it but it happened, Zaqar's powerfist just didn't feel like an inherited artifact from an Atramentor termie with just that paint scheme. So remembering I had an hourglass left over from a battle wizard kit, I filled it down to a 1/4 of the size and stuck it on. Once I clean it up and gap fill I'll post a picture of the Fist of Condemnation!

 

Hopefully bits tomorrow and I can build up the Raptor squads and a Terror squad before messing with the Bleeding Claws Kill team to make a multi purpose kit (Raptors/Warp Talons).

Look what turned up today (also say hi to the mock up Sorcerer!)

So here is what I call the Raptors Decent into Madness! My three current Raptor types 1 for each Claw in my Raptor Talon Formation going from Untainted to Warp touched. Shadow Hawk in Void Hardended MKIV Assault armour, A Mix of MKIV/Raptor Kit for my standard Raptor Claw and 3rd Ed Raptors with new style lightning claws (with a side bolt pistol) for my Bleeding eyes (Warp Talons/Raptors)

I hope you guys like them the fit my need and add a nice splash of variety I was afraid I wouldn't get. Now ill answer the question likely to pop up:

Q: WHAT THE is that on the Bleeding eye Raptors Claw?
A: Well due to the need for one unit to be used possibly as winged possessed (In Age Of 40k games)/ Warp Talons or Raptors, I wanted a not fiddly unit to work for all three so im going with if its not needed then its out of ammo or turned off... lame I know but hey fancy GK style bolt pistol is just cool and two will be pinned for Flamer/Melta swap outs.

So I hope you guys like, hopefully get the Terror Squad done tomorrow mostly at least.

Thanks glad that others think so too, I wanted to replicate the unorganized state of the Legion with hints of salvaging armour.

Okay so bar a CSM backpack ill pick up tomorrow and as awaiting a basecoat ive not stuck to bases here is my Terror Squad Chosen Team.

As you can see nothing terribly special ive tried to get a nice mix of bolters and CC weapons, some not MKIV bits have been added for that salvaged look. The bolter astartes have a shortened sheaved blade from the MKIV kit on the back. The leader has a custom bolter which is just the combi bolter with the alt weapon nozzle cut off. I just need to tidy some parts up and add some battle damage before basecoating and then adding to base.

Next model will be the sorcerer so I can move distractions aside and move on to the Raptors now I know what each should look like.

Last update I can manage today. So a few updates.

First Zaqars new Power fist detail

Also forgot to add these Handcuffs from the Bloodreaver set, helps give the impression these guys like to torture victims.

And finally my Sorcerer, Made from Krannon as a base and then a few additions. Hes holding Zaqars Daemonblade and will be painted in Sinners gauntlets, pretty much going to be treated as his but he thinks his long game will play out only Zaqar is pretty sure he can play chess 4 steps ahead. The plan for paint job is skin cloak and the skulll to be glowing with magic.

Stole the idea for using Krannon from Kaptain Von over in the Murderers Call hangout thread thanks for the idea.

Picked up some weapons CSM backpacks and a possessed winged backpack today. The idea is to magnetise the Raptor Lord incase I need a DP version for a game so swap out his helmet a new jump pack tada DP.

I've got a week until I'm on holiday away so the aim now is to have built:

1 Sorcerer (pretty much done)

1 Raptor Lord

7 Bleeding Eye Raptors

7 Raptors

5 Terror Squad Marines (just add backpack and stick to base)

 

So I'm pretty confident I can not that goal in a week if all goes well, and if possible spray them silver then spray 2 coats of blue.

Thanks KBA, once ive got this immediate list done I will be spraying it silver then adding rubble before a paint job but its on my to do list.

 

10 hour work day today so um yeah no real progress though the MKIV/CSM Raptor Claw has cleaned up legs (removed arrows and lightning) glued to bases so should hopefully get them mostly if not fully built tomorrow.

Hey all we are running on target for having the list built and hopefully sprayed before the end of the week.

So first lets take a look at 3rd Claw Raptor Pack

First the Huntmaster and Pinned Specialists

And the rest of the Pack, I tried to get some more dynamic poses as the kit is great for it.

Here is the current built ready to spray then base fully (eg add to base or apply rubble to clean up base)

1 Sorcerer Lord, 1 5 man Chosen Unit (Terror Squad) and 7 man Raptor Squad.

Well ive tried to get a nice blend of Night Lords with a hint of CSM so they stand out compared to the other two Raptor packs ill have. I haven't yet added skin flaps as that can be done later but I hope you like them!

Just had some sneaky time to fiddle around and I may have just finished the magnetised Raptor Lord.
He does need some Greenstuff bat wings to the helmet and I'm going to go for a flayed face stretched on his shoulder pad but he is at least built for the most part.
I've pinned the head and jump pack so I can swap for a warp Talon jeans and possessed jump pack to field him as a Daemon Prince if needed. (I'll put this bits to one side and work on them in more detail later)

So tomorrow's job will be to finish him up and post pictures and then get to work on those 3rd edition Raptors.

Good morning!

Okay so today is spraying day but before that lets get up some pictures of Lord Huntsman Ukur and the Bleeding Eyes Raptor Pack.

Lord Huntsman Ukur aka the Nostroman Strangler (With Claws of the Black Hunt. The Head is pinned and backpack magnetised, I didn't realise the head was so high on the pin until upload so DW it looks normal when I pay attention)

I tried something new flipping the pins for the flayed face. Works well so will do it more in the future.

Daemon Prince mode these are placeholders at the moment for when I decide to full embrace this option (could it be Ukur has a secret that Zaqar doesn't know of?)

And here come the Bleeding Eyes Pack!

And there you go that is the list finished ive already warned my opponent with the group picture and the message
"We have come for you!"

Hope the Space Puppies are prepared. Anyways lets get a spraying so the can stand in Midnight Clad in minimum.

Surprise! as today was just a basecoating day ive got a the story so far picture and I may have revisited a certain cruiser

Remember the Murderous Class Cruiser? Well Venomous Intentions is almost finished so thought id share it now in Legion colours (no lightning as I think its not practical fluff wise)

As you can see I added a little etched brass but not anything overkill. I hope you like!

Hey, good question and my answer is.... Depends on the backpack from the kit, all are fairly easy by some are alot easier than others.

 

Some like the two I decided chaosfied are just a few spikes which if you cut off and file down you have a battle damaged JP.

For a full loyalist job some would require the turbine ring to be replaced or Green stuff to cover the spikes once filed/cut. The wires with a little greenstuff smooth over work would be fine and the part that joins to the back of the marine could easily be covered or Green stuff'd to look more loyalist.

Hey all no photo updates today, been manic trying to get ahead at work so my 2 weeks off doesn't impact them so much and getting sorted for my Norway Cruise.

I do have some bad news well maybe a blessing in disguise, I had a friend look over my current fluff lore and this is what he said to me:

"Wow your Dyslexia makes your writing flow jump all over the place still doesn't it"

So of course I gave a defensive "Hey!"

"Im not saying your storyline is rubbish but your writing feels fractured and its hard to pin the feeling of a character because of it, to be honest I would see if you can find someone who can take your ideas for you and get them to write your short story for you. Writing is just not your thing mate sorry!"

So yeah ouch burn... but ive always known its one of my flaws hence I took A-Level Literature not Language, Do as I say not as I do. So the writing over the Holiday is a no go. Instead ill focus on relaxing so I can come back renewed and crack on with some painting.

The Sorcerer has had some paint added so I can get more of a feel for the model, so expect him to pop up first. Also although I have a mass backlog to paint! My club wants to go to Nottingham at some point to join in a Sigmar doubles tournament so the sorcerer will gain Shadow Daemon allies! (Khorne Daemon force) I hope to get some units that work well for Sigmar/40k and 30k when the next book comes out.

So sorry if anyone was looking forward to more fluff but ive been told its better this way

More BFG stuff please!

After painting that there is a likely hood I will do a BFG (I know ill be doing Adeptus Titanicus then Epic in the future) project in the future as it was fun to paint.

Okay so here is the last post ill do until im settled back in after my 12 days cruising Norway!

The Sorcerer is 98% done I just need to add the physical warp lightning bolts and then paint the glow for them.

He turned out better than expected as I wanted a hunched Sorcerer forced to carry Zaqars Daemon blade, ive used the DV Lord Krannon as a bassis and just add minor tweaks like the arm, head and backpack. Added a few notches in the now Skin cloak and added a hood to give it character.

Im still unsure on the green eyes but it was to match the magic being used on the charred skull. I hope you guys like it!

I have returned! And the Sorcerer still has no name.

 

I've also decided to cull some of the Warband so I can focus on the miniatures I want to before taking a break from Night Lords to do some other projects. (Vikings/Daemons/Grey Knights).

 

Sooo! Dropping the other two Heldrakes Conversions (mainly due to the hate that formation gets and I'm not competitive) and the two Squads of Cultists. Now I know that it makes my force a bit more focused and Raptor heavy but I can always revisit after.

 

Progress wise needs a little cleaning up but the Sorcerer (please send in name suggestions) now has 3d Warp lightning and the Terror Squad has a few layers of paint on them mainly skulls and legion icon so far.

Welcome back! Shame to hear you are pulling the reigns on the NL but I look forward to seeing what direction you go with these other forces.

 

As for the sorcerer which power do you prefer to use or like more? That could help me think of a name.
