Post Your Primaris Marines

So, I'm not a big fan of Primaris, but seeing some of the awesome stuff people have done with them (including the Duke08 and Guiltysparc), I had to give one a shot, right?

Here's Lieutenant Khamadael Bayne, Raptors Chapter. Still need to give him some insignia and company markings, and maybe take some better photos, but man, what one model can do. Now I'm really struggling not to pick up some Intercessors and start an army...

I even wrote a piece of fluff for this dude:

Theron Grath was taken from Terra as an adolescent to join the ranks of Legiones Astartes. His flesh-transformations and training did not finish until after the Great Heresy was over and Lord Guilliman was rebuilding the empire with the help of his demigod brothers. Grath was re-directed to Archmagos Cawl’s secret project to become a Primaris Space Marine.

Due to a clerical error, so common in the Imperium’s vast bureaucracy, Grath was implanted with VIII Legion gene-seed and put through the inhuman procedures to forge a new breed of warrior. All the while his Mechanicum tormentors were convinced that he was just one of the XIX Legion which remained loyal to the Throne. The flesh changes incurred by the transformation, such as pale skin and dark irises, were deemed perfectly normal for a Raven Guard.

And so, when time came to wake loyal Primaris Astartes up to aid the reborn Lord Guilliman in his task to battle the Archenemy in the 41st millenium, Theron Grath was alive again. It did not take him much time to find out how different he was from sons of Corax. During his time in the Unnumbered Sons’ ranks, he would grow more and more alienated from his supposed brothers.

During a battle against the forces of Chaos, Grath found himself separated from his unit, and vastly outnumbered. He fought valiantly, but the enemy’s numbers were to great and eventually they overpowered the Primaris marine. Instead of killing him however, they captured Theron and took him as a prisoner. The Changer of Ways’ machinations were underway, as the extraction bore all marks of a planned action, and so did the events that followed. Theron Grath was subjected to torture and interrogation that, while extremely painful and bringing him to the brink of death, made him realize that a Raven Guard would not have been able to take that much punishment. His faith in the Imperium also wavered, as no help would come to rescue him from captivity. He would pass out from the pain, wake up to more torture, and repeat the cycle for months.

One day he woke up to find himself in a cell empty but for his suit of Mark X armour waiting on the floor covered with dried blood. The armour was no longer black. It was painted in midnight blue of a Legion lost to Imperial records, but known to Primaris Astartes from battle-scrolls describing the forces of the Archenemy. Night Lords. The moment he saw it, he knew it was true. Whoever or whatever being wanted him to find out his true heritage, succeeded. Grath set off on a journey to the Eye of Terror to find his true brothers. It took some time for the VIII Legion warband known as the 65th Company to accept this outsider. When they first met, Grath was nearly killed on sight as the tall Primaris silhouette came to be known as a priority target for the traitorous forces. The fact that his midnight blue armour bore the red-winged skull and bolts of lighting, saved him as it inspired curiosity in the grim warriors fighting the Long War. After being subjected to torture again, he was allowed to present his knowledge and tell the story of Archmagos Cawl and the secret of Primaris creation.

While he was accepted into an understrength Claw consisting of the warband’s worst warriors, his gauntlets were painted red as a death sentence was declared. He would never be seen as a true son of the Night Haunter by his brothers, but he would be given a chance to prove his worth in fighting the minions of the False Emperor. Only in death does the Long War end.

Although Brother Grath is a Primaris Marine, the time spent under the corrupting influence of the Eye of Terror, combined with insufficient maintenance rituals and tech-menials’ lack of knowledge about Cawl’s latest inventions, he counts as a regular Chaos Space Marine rules-wise. He can replace any model in a Chaos Space Marine Squad. His boltgun’s statistics are the same as a regular Chaos boltgun.  Replacing a Chaos Space Marine with Brother Gratt does not change the model’s point cost.

If you follow the link in the text, you'll find that the model was meant for my friend Vincent's 65th Company of Night Lords. The things you do for people who got you into the hobby years ago. ;) He hasn't been very happy with the recent progression of storyline (Primaris in particular), so hopefully this model will make him like them a bit more. :)

Your friend should be thankful that there's a DA helmet on his rack. Usually when the DA show up they kick Night Lord booty all over the place.

Excellent looking traitor otherwise. :)

Absolutely gorgeous Mantisisizzz (whatever the plural happens to be). My only nit is that with paint jobs that awesome, you really need to do the bases. They're just crying for it. :)

@RA: Sweet Lamenters. Did you have fun with those shoulder pads?

That is some beautiful freehand, the "simon" on the ammo feed is a nice touch as well.
