I appreciate your compliments and I know what you're saying on the grey but I reserve that for elites. The blue helmet designates LT status so I might be able to use it but I'm concerned if I do then I start to have to many different color schemes going on.

I might consider a darker blue for the skull to help set it off but for now I'm going to leave it. I might give a test head a shot at a later time.

Maybe a solution to preserve your scheme but help with the image of a blue skull-helm would be to have bone/white/grey painted on top of the blue helmet. Things like the white hand of Saruman, or Emile-A239 from Halo. The contrast/pop will look great to bring out the skull grimace of the face mask, and it fits with the Shock Troops fluff.

That's not a bad idea... maybe if I put the gray of the armor on the skull it would work out... I'll give it a shot.

I was almost done with the LT last night but I built the base up wrong. I'm going to have to scrape away some material so the model is more centered. A minor setback but I can have it fixed this weekend.

Next up after I do that will be to finish my Phobos Librarian. He's actually pretty far along but I had stopped because I wasn't loving the cloak at the time. Now that I know I want to do the gray to tan transition I'll add that on and push forward. Sword is done, base coats are done, base is done. It's really just highlights, shading, and details that need to be picked out for it to be completed.

LT and Intercessor escort are done. I'm waiting for pictures because this week I should have something arrive that ups my photo game.

I did get my Libby's body assembled and base coats done.I need to start picking out details so while a lot of him is done, I think I still have more than half way to go. Also not sure what to do about his skin and eyes. I've thought about giving his eyes the purple glow like my helmeted marines. For skin I'm not sure if I should leave it gray like the RG or go for an actual skin tone. If I do go for skin I think it'll have to be darker to it doesn't blend in with the camo cloak.

Also painted up the underside and power lines that no one will ever see:

I was waiting to post this until I got my Macro Mats in but I don't know when those are showing up so....

ETL vow of a Phobos LT complete. I also painted up two intercessors to get my Kill Team up to a 5 man squad. This does give me two Sgt's now so I'll have to paint up another 5 regular intercessors to balance the forces.

This is the only reasonable and responsible conclusion

I almost finished the libby tonight but couldn't figure out why he wasn't sitting on the base correctly. After looking at the model online I remember I cut the rocks off his feet. Going to have to work up a new base for him with some elevation so he can stand... :unsure.:

Still need to make more bases. Until then I've started on my Phobos Captain. Gray armor is done and highlighted, blue is base coated and i picked out the steel details so I could attach the right leg. I'll paint over the seems to hopefully fill them in.

Took a break from painting to work on bases. I made one for the Phobos Libby and also started on one for my Redemptor. I was originally planning to have them look clean and nice but the poses on some models mean I have to provide elevation changes for the feet. I'm going to start adding more battle damage to the bases so my HQs don't stick out like a sore thumb.

I finally got around to making the base for my Phobos Libby and it worked perfectly. He's all done now and ready to sneak up and smite.

Here's a shot of my base in different stages, I love seeing how it comes together from looking terrible to a finished, polished project:

Trying to update less so that my updates provide more meaningful progress. I'm getting pretty far on my Phobos Captain. I need to highlight a few things and get his base figured out. My original though was to have him standing on his Servo Skull but I'm not sure if I still want to do that.

Thanks for the compliments! Photo dump time. I got my Macro Mat set today and played around with it. This was using whatever lighting I could find and my DSLR (that I don't know how to use properly). I need to get some better lighting and then I'll be set but even with what I had the photos look great compared to my phone and my desk/hobby area. Very happy and glad that I finally got a set of them. Even better that I won them as a 'pick-your-gift' item from my work for finding a couple security vulnerabilities in our network :biggrin.:

I'm getting close to finishing my Phobos Captain so I figured I'd get my Redemptor ready to prime. I plan on running it as-is or as an Invictor Proxy since the profile is the same.

Like the macro mat, what brand is it? Got a link? Phobos Captain is looking good!

It's from TableWar: http://www.tablewar.com/the-macromats/

On sale right now, I think shipping was $10 to get it to me. I'm happy with it.

I got my redemptor primed, it's amazing what putting on the gray undercoat does for transforming the model. It will probably sit for a week until I can get my air brush set up to base coat it. Until then I'll probably work on my AT stuff... and I'm trying really hard to talk myself out of the AI stuff... I really liked the little bit of x-wing that I played and think that type of game in 40k would be awesome, plus the models look amazing.

Got the airbrush out tonight. I'm getting faster/better at base coating. Got the Redemptor and it's base base coated along with the base for my Phobos Captain. I was also able to get the grout and wash done. My plan is to get the Redemptor feet and legs done first so if a game happens I can proxy it in a try it out while I finish the body and arms.

And as a bonus my Redemptor base is done.

I really love how these bases are turning out, but the battle damage makes me think I need to start weathering my models. I'm nervous about doing that because I've never attempted weathering before so... gonna have to do some research and grab a test model I think... Any thoughts on how I should go about it?

Looking good, as ever. And the bases remain awesome.

One small question - did you mean to leave the grip of the captain's carbine unpainted? It sort of blends into his gauntlet and looks a little unfinished.

Good eye, and oops! I didn't even notice I missed that. I'll have to touch it up and thanks for letting me know.

I must be getting old because I've noticed that on the last couple models I've missed a couple details like that. I almost missed his purity seal as well but caught that.
