The arrival of the transport aboard my ship left me uneasy, my discomfort well known amongst my crew. An hour earlier another had arrived. I hadn't greeted the occupants of the latter, as they had not graced me with their presence. They were waiting for this ship, late by a standard hour. No doubt a deliberate way of annoying me. But then the owners of the ships were both able to get under my skin as much I could get under theirs...

The engines finally shut down. It was an ugly craft, designed to do ugly things. It was squat, box like and painted a dull colour. The sight of the crest on the side made me remember who they were, and who I am. We are Inquisitors, each representing the three major Ordos. Tensions were always high when more than two met, even if they're from the same Ordo. The fact that we three hate each other deeply and have each threatened to kill the other just made it worse. But the situation is desperate. Forces are gathering that we three can not stand against alone. We must put out differences aside.

For now.

The first crafts belly yawned open, and a woman stepped from the darkness. Her armour was similar to mine. Old, personally tailored to her body. Her face had a few newer scars upon it, but she still had that look of smug arrogance I've come to detest. Behind her stood a group of former Guardsmen who threw their fates in with hers. Their regiment doesn't exist any more, spent in a war that was barely important. Having met those individuals, I reckoned the Holy Imperium could stand to lose a few scum like them.

The occupant of the other craft was revealed, her single remaining flesh eye looked at us both with scorn and undisguised contempt. Her minions looked no better. Unkempt, with a Laiss Edited by Aqui

My own bodyguard. Remnants of an Imperial Guard regiment, the Rashnan Valkyries. Only six remain from a regiment of five hundred. An all female detachment, the males of their planet were mostly sent in other Guard groups and never came back. The population was women heavy and as a result a new Founding was created. Now destroyed too. Their planet was reduced to ashes by a Chaos incursion five years ago. It's most likely these women are the surviving members of their homeworld. Their bitterness has made them resilient, brutal and effective. A melancholy has enveloped them, but it never stops them from performing their duties to the letter. They were given no choice but to fall under my command, something which has embittered them further, but it matters not to me. They will do their duty, until their deaths...

Commander (formerly), Janeth Ruspaten, Rashnan Valkyries

Formerly Commanding Officer of her regiment, she now acts as an adjutant to Inquisitor Wegener. Her anger at the fate of her homeworld and her regiment nearly consumed her. Ordered to fight against Chaos Space Marines in close quarters combat, the Valkyries didn't stand a chance. Losing over three hundred troopers to the initial bombardment, she cursed her leaders and ordered the remainder to make a tactical retreat, but never got the chance to turn. Anticipating the move, the enemy had dropped Raptors and a number of Helbrutes behind them. They were slaughtered within hours. Struggling to find a way to exist after so many had died, Janeth awoke in a field hospital, her battered body having been given extensive augmentation to live. Her spinal column was given implants to help her walk, her face was ruined down the right side, a crude mask hiding the extent of the damage. At the foot of her bed stood her future employer. She was given a choice. Follow her or be allowed to die. Seriously considering the latter, she was informed that the lives of five other survivors of her unit depended on her decision. Silently cursing the severe woman, she never the less assented. And regrets every day since. However, she continues to find a bargaining tool that will allow her to be free from her indentured servitude.

It's only a matter of time...

Lieutenant (formerly) Lita Emmerich, Rashnan Valkyries

Ruspaten's former second in command. A taciturn woman even before her regiments slaughter, she says very little since her new life began, preferring her own company. She is reliable and excellent at what she does, but like her former unit commander, yearns to escape and regain her freedom.

Sergeants (formerly) Elana and Jocasta Hotobuki, Rashnan Valkyries

Twin sisters who joined the Valkyries willingly, their parents having died years earlier. Their former ranks kept them separate for the most part, something neither was comfortable with. Having been indentured to the Inquisition, they refuse to undertake any mission unless they are together. Both are elite snipers, something that Inquisitor Wegener has used to her advantage many times. Unlike the others, they are both resigned to their fate, both satisfied that they are at least facing whatever comes their way together.

Privates first class (formerly) Lydia Bohsman and Akari Minoru, Rashnan Valkyries

med_gallery_51296_5089_13671.jpg

Both Bohsman and Minoru were part of a heavy weapon squad in the Valkyries and were expert in most types of weapon. Their preference, a Plasma gun is a trademark of theirs, their uncanny ability to destroy armoured vehicles known across the entire regiment. Neither have any wish to remain in service to the Inquisitor, but they have no wish to antagonise her either. As a psyker, she has the unnevering ability to know what they have to say before they even know...

The six stood behind their mistress, completely motionless. The other two women who met her were identical, save a scar here or there. Despite knowing that she was a triplet, it was still unnerving to witness the three of them. Theirs was a harsh woman, not given to much sentiment, but then, few were in the service of Him on Earth. That was beaten out of you early on. It was a luxury that was ill afforded and often times resulted in death. The six had no wish to die needlessly. They had seen more than enough of it years ago. Not only their Sisters in conflict had perished, but their entire world, naught but rock spinning in space. Each fervently wished that this mission would be concluded quickly. Wegener was usually completely calm, measured. But the need to gain assistance from her blood Sisters rankled deeply in her soul. Her temper was frayed, prone to fits of anger. Her abilities were more evident recently, her powers of the mind reaching inside them to root out little secrets and fears for her to consume. The feeling of pure ice in their veins when she was distant and the temperature of the room dropping severely if she was in close proximity was awful. Her withering look could chill you to the bone, and having seen the results of her power unleashed on her foes, it was far preferable to remain useful...

And loyal.

Please forgive the potato quality of the photos, but I'm just glad I actually built a few models. I've had hobby block for months and felt inspired today to post what I've done. The army list I have only has five of the six woman above, but I intend to change it soon to incorporate the last one. Next up will either be the Sisters portion of the army, or the Inquisitor triplets themselves. I haven't decided yet.

Hope you like them! :happy.:
