Hi, I’ve read through the thread but just want to check something, hope I haven’t missed it.

I’ve built and painted 2x death Company dreadnoughts with fists instead of claws, is this now a ‘bad’ choice rules-wise? Everything is plastic glued on so there’s no way I’m pulling their hands off, I’m just anxious to know. Thanks for any clarification you can give

Depending on what you charge the fist version might still be better. Rerolling wounds when you wound pretty much everything on 2+ is not as big as an additional point of ap, unless the target has invulnerable.

Quick DC question.

Has the Codex fixed their Thunder Hammer issue? It's highly annoying you have to replace the Chainsword AND gun option for a Thunderhammer when literally every other Thunderhammer user can have both (like a captain)?

Feel like the 12 points for a fist and the 2 shots from a Bolter is better in nearly every way (although 3 dmg straight up is nice and all).

Thanks!

Doubled in points? Really??

yep. But the base cost for the furioso is 42 points cheaper.

And Blood Talons look awesome this codex.

Do Furiosos get any Ven Dread stats like BS/WS2+ or the 6+FNP?

The Datasheet of the BA specific units stayed the same for the most part afaik unfortunately.

I hate to make someone with the Codex do the leg work, but would anyone mind making a single post with al the points-changes? I may be missing something but as we all get into list uikeing that would be quite useful.

Thanks!

I suppose you could write + or - points, but its against the rules to post true points values once the book is out I believe.

This is a repost from Dakka. This should help. Anything else you need let me know. Points from Index to Codex are pretty much the same.

Couple thoughts:

-we can still use Index entries, right? So...what’s to stop us from using Jump Pack Sang Priests, the “older, wiser, better” Sanguinary Ancient, and others from the Index instead? Also, does that mean we can use the Index version of Shield of Sanguinius?

...half-jokingly, half-seriously, that flow-chart of what rules to use GW put out is sort of the Chewbacca Defense when it come to the above.

-DC Dread down 42pts that gets to re-roll To Hit and To Wound (and +1 To Wound!!!) on itself... :O

Removed content which is against the B&C rules

You can use options from the index, but you can't use different rules from a previous for a new datasheet for one that has now been updated.

Nothing stops us from using JP Sang Priests etc. as long as the Index is legal. However we can't use the 4++ Shield of Sanguinius. The psychic lore is completely replaced by the Codex one. Edited by Jolemai

What’s the deal with successors in this codex? I’ve been thinking about starting a successor chapter of the BA’s but I thought I heard/read something about some part of the codex basically being useless for the successor chapters and that kinda put me off a tad.

Codex entries take precedent over Index entries. So we can only use the wargear options from the Index. It's in that chart that's floating around on Warhammer Community that I can never find. So yes, you can still use Priest with Jump Pack, on Bike, and all the other options that are gone.

With Psychic Powers need to use what's in the Codex. Same thing with the Ancient.

Sorry, missed this one. Still the same. I still prefer hammer tho for the guaranteed 3 damage. I just have a hammer guy throw grenades.

BA: Loses options for Jump Packs on some characters even though Jump Packs are sold by GW.

DA: Get a whole new unit of a Lieutenant on a Land Speeder with a Twin-Linked HB & Twin-Linked AC because they have an upgrade sprue and to make up for the fact Sammael on the Land Speeder isn't in the codex anymore.

.....I really want to like GW but stuff like this is so stupid.

Yeah just saw it. Riddiculous. I only hope that GW plans to update the BA Primaris line first due to Dantes new position and stuff so we get replacement for everything we 'lost' quickly (i know i know, Index Datasheets yadda yadda).

To make sure I do maths:

Hidden Content

Now a DC Dread with Storm Bolter + Melta = 34.8 melta bombs?

Correct with Talons. -15 if you just want Fists.

What a :cuss -ing DISTRACTION CARNIFEX. Holy cow. Am I crazy or does anyone see the potential in Mongo here?
