Knightsword's WIP Thread - count-as Bjorn Fell Handed and Chapter Master page 9

Got my hands on a Shadowspear box. Love the idea of most of the units but not so keen on some of the models. That being said, there are so many conversion opportunities with these models that I can't wait to explore.

 

First one I did was kitbash the Phobos Captain to look more like Sergeant Telion so that I can use him as a count-as model and the Captain as I see fit. The bolter is a combination of one of the Reiver carbines and the Captain's fancy gun. Probably the most hair raising bit of cutting I've done so far as I had no spares of the Captain's gun. Overall I'm happy with the pose and it definitely looks more like Telion.

Made a start on the Lieutenant. Anyone else think that for someone with the Knife Fighter special rule he doesn't have enough knives? I thought this so I raided my spare Reiver bits and pinched the slung bolter from one of the Infiltrators.

Not had time for painting the last week or so but managed to start kitbashing the first of the Shields of Dorn honour guard which will be named the Praetorian Shield Guard. They're armed much the same as the Chapter Master with fists, shields and underslung bolters.

Spent ages trying to get my hands right handed power fists for this unit but in the end I had to butcher a right handed lightning claw. Just need to do some minor green stuff now that the main belt and tabard are mostly sculpted and then attach the zinge industry flexible ammo belts.

Are you a big Shovel Knight fan? Dual-wielded shields reminds me of Shield Knight, a supporting character in that game.

Honestly I'd never even heard of Shovel Knight till you just mentioned it. There's a bit influence from Mobile Suit Gundam: Thunderbolt where the featured Gundam has 2 shields (it can also carry another 2 shields for a total of 4 which gave me an idea for a Techmarine in Gravis armour with 2 extra shields on the servo harness, but I don't know if i'll ever make that).

It looks like I'm leaving none of the Shadowspear characters unconverted. Next on the chopping block is the Librarian. Since I'm wanting to run him as a count-as Tigirius sometimes I've given him a force stave. Getting the hand swapped was a bit of a faff.

Also not too keen on the hooded head for the Librarian so I used the spare from the Conquest mag libby.

Also starting work on some Veteran Intercessors.

Nice conversions on the Vanguard Captain and Lieutenant! I got a real headache converting my own Captain and I really don't know what to do with the Lieutenant. 
Now I really wonder what you will do with the Suppressors :P

Thanks Majkhel. The only things I've thought of for the Suppressors is that I don't want to do them on the horrible flight stands and that the smoke launcher just looks silly. I'll probably cut the little fragstorm launcher bits off of an Aggressor backup and put one on each side of the autocannon or on the outer side of their lower legs instead. Or maybe even replace the autocannons with DW frag cannons.

 

Where's the bolter from on your Phobos Captain by the way?

It's from the Intercessor's multi-part kit, made the Stalker variant.
I also do not want mine on the sticks. This will either require making them landing on something (which is not bad) or some leg-cutting/filling to make them standing on something (which I would prefer, but it will also be harder to achieve).

Progress on the honour guard. I figured if the Chapter Master is standing triumphant over his opposite number then his honour guard must have beaten their counterparts too.

I think the Chapter Master should be posed with one foot pressing down on the Necron's right wrist, preventing the xeno from castrating him.

 

Anyways, your base decoration idea is great! I hope to see the completed model soon.

Been a while since I had some hobby time. Working on a Gravis armour command squad to accompany my soon to be made 1st Company Captain (count-as Tor Garadon). Still not keen on the look of the auto boltstorm gauntlets so I've just ordered lots of pairs of Calgar's fists so that I don't have to bash bolt pistols and power fists together anymore.

Kitbashed Tor Garadon into my first company captain, Praetor Alcaeus. Calgar's power fists are so close to being the same size as the Hand of Defiance, all it needs is the knuckle duster bit so I'm just waiting for that to become available on a bits store.

Will probably swap out the base for more dead Necrons to keep with my basing theme so far.

I've had more hobby time in the last 3 days than I have had in the last 6 months, and I don't understand how this has happened

So I've decided that I'm never using the stock auto boltstorm gauntlets on the Aggressors ever again. I will now just use Calgar's fists instead. They just look so much more, I don't know, "mariney" to me.

Next time they'll be normal Aggressors though rather than my shield bearing Honour Guard so I'm going to have to get rid of the Ultras stuff rather than lazily hide it behind the shields. Speaking of shields, here are some more of the Praetorian Shield Guard.

The poses you have done on these are great. I feel your captain needs to be looking down at a defeated necron just as the light in its eyes flickers out. Very triumphant!

The parts arrived and the Captain now has a second hand of defiance. I still suck at green stuff but I like how it's turned out. I filed off the shoulder icon so that I can paint it and then add some commissioned custom icons at a later date when they're finished.
