space wolf
Griffon looks great. Its ok that the shield covers it, once its all painted, it will be the little details that adds continual interest to the model. These models are so full of character because of all these extra bits! Looks great! Thanks @Bergje1984 I got lucky this time with what I already had, otherwise I there would have been a lot of ebay raiding. 18 hours ago, space wolf said: Griffon looks great. Speaking of little details, I made too much green stuff for gap filling so added some little sculpts and a couple more purity seals. space wolf
Looks good! Small recommendation: when youre doing massive gap filling/plate building, id suggest mixing 50/50 green stuff/milliput. It still keeps the properties of GS where it will stay where you put it, etc. but its WAAAAAAY more sandable when cured. Youll be able to buff out the uneveness to a much greater degree. Knightsword
@space wolf I'll be giving that a go next time I have large area to fill/sculpt I have the latest Bladeguard Dread sprayed, just haven't had time to properly paint yet. In the meantime I got my hands on a Saturnine Praetor for cheap and had the silly idea of adding bits of Indomitus armour to it. I like the model apart from the massive pauldrons so had a play with the Indomitus Terminator ones. He's kind of reminding me of Gabriel Angelos' old Forgewold model. Tempted to re-do the arms and have him hold the hammer in a two-handed grip like the old Angelos model. Going to try and bulk out the hips a little with decoration to make it a little more proportional. My only annoyance with this is that the Indomitus chest piece sticks a little too much (can't see it in the photo), however I can't remove it now so will try and make that look better too. Lore for this chap is that he is exceptionally large even by Astartes standards and is one of the oldest living members of the Chapter. Due to his size a suit had to be custom made from the remains of an ancient Saturnine suit and recovered parts of Indomitus armour. space wolf
Not bad at all. If possiblr id recommend turning his head to one side or another. Itll give hima a little more dynamism, which IMHO is important because if how static the original model is. Knightsword
Agree on changing the angle of head. I re-did the pose to the two-handed idea. Had to butcher the Praetor axe handle for the handv to make it work. Some more filling and sculpting to do now. Knightsword
You can't really see it due to the tilt shields but I've filled and sculpted the Indomitus chest piece to blend in with the Saturnine body better. Also sculpted an armour plate below the Indomitus chest to make it not look like it's sticking out too much. Brother Christopher
As always, inspiring conversions. I envy you your zeal and passion for this kind of work. Also, I want to point out that your 'fix' for the storm shield was so good that GW stole it from you. Congrats - this fact (i.e. the design on the new Jump Captain) is only a testament to how good and, I dare say, necessary your conversion was.
