Your conversions are stunning, as always. The new new Dreadnoought is ace - the reasonable part of me tells me that it's a bit too much but hey, it's 40k!

But the JP Chaplain is something else. Man, I love and I'd love to steal your idea but it seems like a lot of work.

By all means steal the ideas, I'm thrilled if anything I make inspires others. The JP Chaplain was a lot of work, but only because the base AoS model came already assembled. If he'd been on the sprue then it would have been a lot easier  I do regret using the Terminator Chaplain chestplate rather than a normal one now but hey ho.

I've got some photos of the Dread with the shield, but didn't realise his damn finger had somehow come off mid shooting. I think I've now managed to fix the finger placement holding the sword and make it look less deinty (last photo).

Added a heraldic beast so that he matches the not-Bjorn and count-as Murderfang. I'm running out of easy to sculpt animal heads. Wish I had decided to add a fur texture at the time though.

All the magnets! I've started using these ring magnets on Redemptors and Brutalis Dreads because I can never get the arms to clip as shown in the instructions. I figured it would also be a good idea to magnetise the waist too, however this has proven a little frustrating. The magnet kept coming off the top of the legs so I tried gluing one of the plastic rings that seperated the magents in the pack to the legs and then gluing the magnet to that. That too seemed to ignore the glue so I'm now  making a blue stuff mold of the plastic ring to cast a green stuff ring to use for securing the magnet instead.

I don't know why super glue bonds green stuff better to GW plastic than it does another type of plastic, but at least the plan worked!

I am now debating taking the barrels of the heavy stubber and putting them on the bolters behind the shield and then sticking a larger iron halo on top of the Dread, but not 100% sure on the idea.

So I decided I wasn't happy with the shield and used what would have been the aforementioned iron halo there along with a failed cast of the Lion's sword to make a fancier version of the Chapter's symbol.

Still don't know if I want the stubber on the top or not...

Looking fantastic!

As for the stubber, do you have any plastic tube/rod you could stickytac in place to give you a rough idea of how the stubber barrels would look? I kinda of like the idea of having the guns behind the shield. Although if you're going for the more anti-flyer look the back makes more sense.

No rods unfortunately but I can place the turrent insitu with the shield and wrist mount to get an idea of how far the barrels would protrude. If I don't change the barrel length then they'll stick out almost 10mm, so I'd probably cut them down so that they're concealed behind the shield or only stick out a couple of mm. The lore behind these Dreads in the Chapter is more for monster hunting so I'm not hung up about the anti-flyer aspect.

Interestingly, I had the mental image of the barrels going through the shield, a bit like the Breachers ....

I could see that working really well with the Invictor, and truth be told that may now be on my future project list. I was thinking more along the lines of the below though.

On a separate note, I seem to have been demoted from Veteran to Novitiate and all my badges have gone so I'm guessing Brother Tyler has begun wrestling with the board's machine spirit for the rank and achievement overhaul.

Correct. The Ranks and Achievements will reappear as the machine spirits work through the data-spires

Stubber is now on the wrist of the shield arm and will for the most part be hidden behind the shield. Also used the lower part of the torso hatch to cover up the hole where the stubber would have originally gone. A few gaps to fill here and there but this one's almost done apart from basing. The basing elements are coming in a May issue of Combat Patrol in the form of the Hellbrute issues, although I will probably try to find time to paint him before that arrives.

First... you totally stole my idea for using the Stormcast drake rider as a wolflord conversion idea... that was mine I tell you, MINE!  lol.  secondly, the use of the knight helmets as armor for the Katars and the use of the reaver plates on the dreadnought are both bloody brilliant.  I MAY have to "borrow" those ideas one day.....

Borrow everything. If anything I make inspires anyone then I'll dead chuffed.

The Knight and Reaver armour was a happy accident. I had been trying to find extra Redemptor armour plates for those two but could only find the Knight and Reaver bits so took a gamble.

I have realised in all of this that the top half of the Redemptor/Brutalis chest hatch would fit over the shoulders pretty well as extra shoulder plating, so I'm going to try that on the next one.

Behold Venerable Knight pattern Dreadnought Leofwin. I've painted him! Well nearly, forgot to do some of the writing on the shield but that's now a job for another day. I need to figure out what to write on there anyway. I really need to work on my photography too  His base bits should arrive in a couple weeks as well, so he'll be fully finished by the end of the month.

So what's with all the different heraldry I here you (probably not) saying? Well I'm glad you asked and I'll happily clear that up.

Heraldic colours displayed on a right shoulder pad denote the Company to which a Battle Brother belongs. In this case the red and blue quartering are those of the Chapter Master's Honour Guard (Yes I have a Dreadnought in the Chapter's Honour Guard. The previous two Dreads have gold and blue which places them in the 1st Company). The Honour Guard uses the Chapter Master's heraldry, so if the Chapter Master changes then the new one's herardly is adopted by the Honour Guard. You can also see it displayed on the banner and chest shield.

Per Chapter tradition, a Battle Brother's personal heraldry may be displayed on their armour if they perform great feats on the battlefield in service to the Chapter. In this case the yellow and red quartering are this Battle Brother's personal heraldic colours. Another aspect of displaying personal heraldry is that when a Battle Brother is interred into a hallowed Dreadnought then they granted the honour of disaplying their personal heraldic icon over their Company colours on the right shoulder pad. This is why he has a Stag's head on his right shoulder.

They arrived, and as hoped, one Hellbrute makes two bases.

Going to do my best to make the areas around the Lascannon impacts and sword slash look molten. Now if only the good ole British weather would improve so I can prime everything, but as it's a bank holiday weekend I don't see that happening

Man that dreadnought looks amazing! Love the paint scheme. The conversion and modelling is fantastic.

Thanks  full props to kitbashpowerhead on Instragram for the inspiration. You should check out all his Dread conversions, they're way better than these.

Update on the bases, they did not go well  I ran out of textured paint and tried to find an alternative as the nearest hobby stores to me are a bit of a trek. Found a few guides on Youtube about using coffee grounds from bean to cup machines (which I dont have... YET) and reasoned that my peasant instant coffee would work all the same.

I figured that since it's already been roasted and then freeze dried that it would be the same in principle. Turns out it doesn't. Mixing the acrylic paint and the coffee went well and had a nice texture but then it took 2 days to dry to a point where it was fairly solid but still malleable (kinda like greenstuff before it's fully cured) after applying,  and then trying to paint on top or apply washes kept reactivating it. Had to admit defeat on this and spent over an hour trying to scrape it all off with a stanley knife. I'll be making said trek to the hobby shop soon.

Dear Sir, I am a fan of your creativity and craftsmanship. The models are quite over-the-top but have a great presence. The idea and execution are - as I've grown to expect from you - excellent. The added bulk somewhat improves the original design of Redemptors - probably because it brings them a bit closer to the silhouette of OG dreads. The modified sarcophagi work very well.

Probably my only criticism is the slightly rough-looking bit where the modified sarcophagus on the shield dreadnought (i.e. the 'torso' of a contemptor that you used) connects to the body of the Redemptor. Towards the top, there is a smal slit that I'd fill up.

@Brother Christopher Thanks for kind words and feedback. There are a few gaps that I had forgotten to fill after I started painting and hoped wouldn't be noticable once everything was painted. Do you mean the gap behind the tilt shield on the torso just below the circular grill?
